hostel design polite english speaking staff (german owner) location of the hotel is amazing kitchen and nearby area waterfall
Uvita does not have much to offer very far from nearest beach
I did a short trip of nine days around CR. I stayed at hostel cascada verde at the end of my trip and it was the most spectacular surprise in this amazing country. Its owners and her super cute little daughter, the comfort in the bedroom, the location and its proximity to this awesome waterfall, make of this hostel the greatest I been to while traveling in CR. Don't expect luxury but you will find all that's needed to enjoy the place.
It had a big beautiful kitchen for everyone to use, beautiful lounging spots, and was apottlessly clean everywhere
It was a bit of a hike to the beach, though not terrible
the location is perfect. the owner send you after reservation a very nice email with details. the rooms are very cleam and open. the kitchen is well equiped the owner is very helpfull One of the best hostels I ever stayed in!
This place was great!. Do not hesitate to book like I did. I heard howler monkeys on my arrival but did not see them. Saw many colorful birds (Like the Chestnut-Mandible Toucan). The owner are very attentive to your needs. Floors are super clean. Uvita beach is near by. Nice bakery near by as well.
Only wish I could have seen more wildlife but that's my fault for only staying 1 night!
The location is great, Uvita itself doesn't have much to offer, but it's a great place to stay and do daytrips to manuel antonio, whale watching, corcovado. We end up staying 4 nights because we really loved this place. Julie is really soo friendly and helpfull, the kitchen is well equiped as well. The hammocks are really nice as well! And its just a 5 minute walk to a nice waterfall where you can swim, slide and jump off!
Great location within the forrest and an impressive hostel with extremely friendly owners. We saw a lot of animals during our stay, and just loved the place. This place have to be part of your trip in Costa Rica!
The owners are always available for any needs; they helped us a lot, also to change a flat tire. The Hostel is surounded by a wonderful nature and it's like to be in a remote forest although the town is just a few minutes away. Our best accomodation in Costa Rica!!!
Friendly, relaxed and relaxing. Great atmosphere as you are surrounded by polished wood, with huge open spaces and only tropical trees and their wildlife beyond. Really - there are many lodges and eco-places, but this one gives a great sense of space and openness.
The lodge is a good 20 min walk from the road junction (for public transport) and another good 30 min walk from the beach. This is fine if you know and pay for taxis or have your own car. But as the hostel is not the cheapest (for a hostel) and you may end up paying for transport, this is worth pointing out. (I'd come anyway as I loved it.)
Amazing hostel with very nice owners. Beautiful location and with nice views over the wood and ocean. Fully equipted kitchen with a lot of luxuries you dont see that often in normal hostels. You Should really check it out!
When I first got to the place Julie and Stephan make me feel at home right the second. The attention they give to others is very personal. I miss them and I can really say I love you guys; you are great! Keep it up. Jah Bless.
I didn't like the fact that I did not find Cascada Verde Hostel first!
Cascada Verde is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. It was more than what we wanted. Top notch facilities with wonderful places to sit all day and relax. Could not have dreamed of a better view and setting. Monkeys and fireflies are all around along with other wildlife and some very kind house cats. Bugs were a minimal issue
Be realistic, it's not a hotel with an air conditioner but here is a fan which really helps. The bed mattress was similar to a futon and every night made my ribs ache, but it seemed like a typical mattress that most hostels had.
Julie and Stephan know how to run a hostel. Everything was organized, clean, and comfortable. The owners, as well as other guests, are always available to answer any questions. We felt very safe and welcome here. The hostel is a 5 minute walk from a nice waterfall, $1 per person to get in. Playa Uvita is roughly an hour away (walking) and $6 per person to use beach (as native Floridians this was crazy to us!), so we recommend the 20 minute bus ride to Domincal (600 colones per person) where the beach is free to use. While Costa Rica is an expensive country to travel in, my boyfriend and I felt that this hostel was reasonably priced for what you get, especially compared with other places we stayed in CR. We definitely recommend Cascada Verde to other travelers. Thank you, Julie and Stephan, for a lovely stay.
Beautifull location, if you are living in a three. Great people, Julie helps you with everything, even in trying to spot a toucan. If you want to have a special stay, you should go there! It's clean, you can cook your own mails. SUPER!
Most rooms do not have their own toilet, but that's a luxury problem. Everything was very clean!
fantasic place recommended highly to families
Fabulous views of the jungle from the wrap-around veranda. Rustic but very comfortable furniture and hammocks. Well-equipped kitchen and plenty of sinks for cleaning up.
Techno music constantly streaming.
All of the communal areas were brilliantly designed and gave the opportunity for privacy or social
Our mattress was very hard.
like staying is a really cool tree house.
isolated: which can be good and bad
Excelente lugar para descansar
Waking up early in the morning and showering IN the Cascada Verde waterfall. Very nice Eco-environment, Julie is very kind and helpful.
My boyfriend and I attended Cascada Verde for a week-long stay for my birthday! I'm not an outdoor-sy girl; this was absolutely a whole new adventure for me, and I did a lot of research on a lot of hostels, and Cascada Verde was absolutely beautiful! We also had never been to a hostel before so the must-know's for new hostel guests, not just for Cascada Verde, but for likely the majority of hostels in Costa Rica: *NO toilet paper in the toilet-this is Central America... *Write your name on your food in the fridge or put it all in a plastic bag, and put your name on the bag *Early to bed, early to rise; there is a lot to discover and you can't do that while you are sleeping! :D *Be social-there are people from all around the world visiting in Hostels and all of them are very friendly *Your showers will be cold but refreshing-TRUST ME on this one :) *Bring bug spray. If the bugs love you in the US, they will love you in Uvita *After you use a dish, wash it, and put it on the drying rack *It's the rainforest, and at this hostel, you are in the center of it all. Revel in it! Julie and Stephen were there the entire time to answer all of my questions, the hostel was always beautifully kept, the cats that roam are adorable and love people, the waterfall is only a 5 minute walk away for only $1, everyday at 10:30am on until 11pm there was music playing throughout the hostel, you have to walk around the hostel barefoot (trust me, you'll want to because of the cold brick and wood, and your feetsies will be very clean because it is mopped daily! :O), taxi's in the area are very affordable, and most importantly, hammocks are always available! Being a very indoor girl from Florida, I abuse my AC, I work in the cosmetics industry, and I wear high heels almost everyday. Taking the leap and going on this adventure to Uvita, Costa Rica was a huge 180 for me.
Perfect place to relax. Beaches and waterfall are in short distance from hostel. The most amazing thing is the atmosphere. Everything we needed was there, staff is super friendly and was helpful in telling us about the best things to do during our stay. We saw lots of howler monkeys and tucans very close to the hostel. We had a wonderful time and can recommend everyone to stay here! One of the best hostels we've ever been to.
I'm not one for the "jungle" setting but my wife loved it. A little to shaded for me.The staff was friendly and professional and the guests were a lot of fun. Very friendly atmosphere.
The one thing that caught me off guard was how well you can hear everything going on throughout the entire facility. If you are a lite sleeper like me then I recommend bringing ear plugs. Or not and be entertained by the wide variety of sounds during the night.
One of the most unique hostels I've been to... nestled perfectly in the forest and close to the waterfall. It's immersive, the kitchen facilities are great, and staff are extremely helpful. Those hammocks were made of dreams.
Bed was not comfortable... worn down mattress... but I'll give them comfort points for the hammocks :)
