If you are a super light sleeper, I probably wouldn't recommend it as the walls are made out of bamboo so sound flows from every direction.
If you are looking for a place to play your music loud into the night and get tipsy with all your travel buddies, I wouldn't recommend this place either, as like I said, sound travels here and the majority of people are a mature group looking for peace in this beautiful environment which the owners do their best to maintain.
It is quite a walk from the beach. And a hot one :P which is the only actual bummer... the waterfall is only right around the corner though!
Slight hill and long driveway make a flashlight, car or taxi a requirement if coming/going in the dark.
I wouldn't say any of these are negatives, just facts to be aware of when weeding out places to stay in Uvita - there's an option for every sort of traveler here.
For me, as a solo female, this hostel was every inch perfect. It is the cleanest hostel I have ever been in, which I think helped to keep the bugs away and beds cozy (nothing worse than sandy sheets). The staff was very warm, respectful and eager to help with anything you wanted or needed to do. Although I was only there for a few days to conclude my CR trip and didn't make much use of the kitchen, it was big, open, adequately-supplied and organized. The creative design of the property was beautiful and extremely well-kept. A lot of thought was put into comfort with the spacious dorms, ample space to put your things, lights and plug-ins next to all the beds. There are two routers to reach everywhere in the building with pretty stinkin' fast wi-fi for Costa Rica! I was possibly a little too excited by the end of my trip to be able to settle down with netflix in the evenings. Just bring headphones to be courteous to others :) Will definitely stay here again on a future trip - and there will be one!
