Stéphanie was a GREAT hostess will incredible knowledge of the whole of Costa Rica. She was willing to help us with all our needs at ease and give us recommendations for places in the area. The grounds of Mar y Luz were absolutely stunning and we immediately felt at home and safe. The casitas are centrally located to everything you could need. We rented bikes and felt safe on the road and we were able to get anywhere without needing a taxi. You must visit Casitas Mar y Luz if in Puerto Viejo.

Location is nice because it is in the middle of the jungle but also only a short walk from the beach. Very secluded. The bungalows are small but nice and clean.

Rooms were not cleaned daily. Maybe because we only stayed two nights or we were the only guests? At least Stephanie gave us two new towels. The plug hole in the kitchnette smelled really bad.

Stephanie is a wonderful guest. She gave really good tips on where to eat and what to do in the area. Moreover the staff working there is also super friendly and very helpful. The cabins are super conveniently located, five minutes walk away from a beautiful and quite beach.

this is a great place. stephanie who runs is it a great host who treats her guests like family. she goes out of her way to visit and talk with everyone staying there. its in the middle of a rainforest with lots of tropical birds, monkeys etc. yet it is only 500 yards from a deserted beach and the main road. nearby are lots of restaurants and mini supers for food.

You can feel the real taste of Costa-Rican wilderness there. Roaring jungles just around your bungalow.

Mosquitos... there are special anti-mosquito nets provided for the every bed but it doesn't help. Huge waves were all 4 days we stayed there and didn't allow us to snorkel at all.

The location is great, the fact to be awake by the animals in the morning is just fantastic, the staff is helpful and the cabinas are very cosy

The area around the huts, gardens etc is very well maintained. The huts are lovely and bright. Location is good - between Punta Uva beach and Puerto Viejo centre. Staff - Stephanie was very helpful, checked in on us every day despite the fact that she wasn't very well. Assisted with booking trips etc - drove us to the Jaguar centre herself. Can't do enough to help and Marlon who lives at the property is very nice and helpful also.

Bed - this was very uncomfortable, could feel the springs. Not the cleanest - but the best is made of an older property.

Budget-friendly, close to the Playa Chiquita and Punta Uva

Need mosquito nets... we were all bitten up, which isn't surprising for the Caribbean, but we were mostly bitten at night in our cabin
