Staff was caring, good people and they helped us a lot.
Rooms on the main street are very, very, very noisy. The low cost windows just let al the trailer, motos and cars noise in. We had the upper room in the corner of the 2 streets and we asked to move.
Cute little B&B, clean, comfortable, giant windows with a nice breakfast. Nice view overlooking the cathedral.
inches from the street and VERY noisy. Street noise until after 10pm, starting by 6:30am. Not very restful
Great location, nice balconies overlooking the cathedral.
Said breakfast was included but there was a confusion with early checkout and breakfast was not preprepared for the room. Also had to deal with a young staff member in the morning who is a lot less professional than the regular staff (no customer service at all).
Proximity to the cathedral
Extremely noisy at night, very hard beds, brusque and disinterested staff, meager breakfast (no milk or cream for coffee, for example). Additionally, our room was on the third floor, so there were many stairs to haul luggage up and down. Above us, there were the sounds of animals scuttling around: very disquieting along with the very loud street noise (motorcycles without mufflers and other street noises long after 10pm. Finally, despite the hotel's claim of proximity to the airport, there was no shuttle service offered. We had to call a taxi. Travelers should be aware of these deficiencies and make their reservations with full knowledge that the print and photos are misleading.
The view from our room was lovely. The hotel is charming, and the staff quite friendly.
Considering we are in town, it's QUITE noisy with the traffic. Breakfast was very ordinary .
Staff was friendly
Comforter, pillowcases & sheets were stained. No towels in the room. The door might as well have been a screen since it was super noisy. The "window" in our room was a window to the laundry facilities used by the hotel. Musty room had obvious water damage on the walls. Not a pleasant stay.
Friendly receptionist ( young lady) when we arrived. She gave good information to us.
Shabby room. There was little bug's in the room. Bed linen and bed sheets were dirty. Even after reguesting,we did not get towel.
Clean, comfortable and quiet.
Good facilities and good location
It was noisy
Helpful staff, good breakfast. Room with king sized bed is available.
Air conditioner had some problems, but was not needed.
We liked the proximity to the airport and the view of the cathedral from the balcony.
The free parking is actually street parking which made us a little nervous. The room/bed were not very clean. The ac barely worked and we couldn't leave the balcony open because the noise from the street was so loud. Also, they own a restaurant downstairs and the breakfast was not very exciting.
After staying in so many dark hotel rooms it was lovely to have a nice bright room with its own little balcony overlooking the cathedral. Convenient for a cheap taxi to the airport and a short walk to the local bus station for taking a trip to Volcan Poas and other places of interest. Nice breakfast included in the room rate and staff were flexible about letting us check in a little early.
José/Chema and his wife were very nice and helpful, always around 24/7 and speaks very good English. The rooms are lovely, we stayed here again near the end of our trip and had a nice balcony. The shower is nice and powerful. The breakfast is nice and hearty (bacon/egg, gallo pinto/pancakes, toast, juice, coffee). The hotel also operates as a Pizzeria during the day. For the price the value is great. Alajuela is a better place to stay than San José, the hotel is nearer a lovely park where locals sit and chat all day, very safe. The streets have no signs but is next to the Cathedral so easy to be directed to there. There's a nice sports just bar down the road called Relax, which was busy opposite Pizza Hut.
Clean, comfortable rooms in a great location.
This hotel is cute, felt safe, close to the airport and overall the best value we have found near the airport, as we have travelled in and out from SJO quite a bit. The room was clean and comfy. Run by a husband and wife, they are friendly and helpful about where to eat, shop and park. The hotel is in a great location downtown, so you have everything close by...but may be a little noisey for some. We were surprised at how fast Jose had breakfast ready...so we could zoom to the airport. And how tasty it was too...pancakes, eggs, toast, and cookies...coffee and juice...all included!!! We are planning to stay there again next week when we fly back into San Jose next month.
friendliness and helpfulness of the husband and wife that ran the hotel
noise level - mostly from other guests but could hear everything that was going on in the hall way/ other rooms
It's only 5 US-dollars to the airport by taxi. Super fast WiFi. Clean. Helpful staff. Very cosy bed.
It was near the center of town so it was easy to walk around and find good, inexpensive restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Price for the value was good. I prefer local places over the chains.
We had a rental car and it was very difficult to find since we didn't have a GPS. The directions said that it was at First Street and First Avenue (Uno Avenida y Uno Calle), but even the police didn't know where those streets were located. They should have said that they were next to the main Cathedral and plaza then give the street names. Also, the town of Alajuela doesn't mark their streets so it was impossible to find the streets and distinguish from the avenues.
The hotel was only $57 per night. That's the only positive insight that I can offer.
Hard to sleep from all the street noise. Musty (old house) smell. The breakfast was horrible (cold scrambled eggs with something that slightly resembled ham, a dry pancake, cold coffee, and bugs in the sugar dispenser. The food was cooked & plated earlier & re-warmed in the microwave. The WIFI was really weak on the third floor.
Excellent location - very close to airport
Only soap bars in the bathroom - no shampoo or shower gel
Jose - the owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful
Room was not clean at all
Location and great owner's
Very very noisy. The sheets were dirty.
The location was perfect. The room was clean and comfy.
Birds in the attic. Thinnnn walls.
Close to airport, friendly staff
Noisy lots of traffic
