I visit costa rica every 2 to 3 months at which time I stay at Club Martino. I liked it very much my first stay and more with each stay. I recomend it wholeheartedly. Excellent value.
There is really nothing that I liked about this place. It was remote and secluded, but felt a little unsafe.
THE SETTING AND LAYOUT OF THE COMPLEX WAS UNIQUE AND WE APPRECIATED THIS BREAK FROM A TYPICAL CHAIN HOTEL SETTING.
GREAT breakfast with beautiful view was second only to great value!
Attentive, friendly staff Comfortable room Great location
I couldn't stay longer.
Location, Access and Restaurant food.
Hotel and Rooms were a bit tired and needed a refurbishment
Nice, clean, friendly, easy. Good food good service, berry accommodating. We will return.
We arrived in SJO late. Make sure you take a regular taxi. Should be 15-20 US. We let some joker try to help us save money and ended up costing us double. Just a helpful tip.
Beautiful setting and peaceful surroundings. Also enjoyed sitting on porch and conversing with family.
Walk uphill from lodgins to dining area.
Pool was nice, but water was really cold
I feel like the pictures gave a false impression that this was a nice hotel. It was old, dirty and broken down. I would not recommend it.
Great place to be near the airport. Very nice staff. Rooms are old but overall ok
This is a large and expansive site, with many more amenities than we had time to enjoy, especially the enormous pool area. The dining area is lovely and the breakfast was acceptable but not lavish (1 cereal choice, bacon/eggs on demand, good fruit, juices, toast and coffee). The room was reasonably comfortable and spacious. Bathroom facilities very good. Note that a LOT of walking is involved at this facility.
We ate one night in the restaurant, since the hotel is ~6 km from most of Alajuela's restaurant options. The waiter was the rudest and most impatient person we encountered in our entire trip -- when I ordered my meal he started walking away so fast that I had to call him back TWICE to provide the details that any good waiter would have asked for on his own (like how well I liked my steak cooked). My being female may have had something to do with it. The food was expensive for the quality, and very salty. I was also less than impressed by the rather unprofessional greeting we received at the reception desk by a young man who needed to sit up, smile, and actually welcome a guest.
Helpfulness of staff, grounds nice.
Very displeased after arranging for hotel shuttle for airport pick-up and double/triple checking flight/time/date...NO pick-up...!
Big property, free parking, spacious rooms, decor
ants in the room, everything weared and need to be changed or repared
Nice hotel, big clean rooms and close to the airport. They also agreed to store our dive bags for a week free of charge.
The staff is very friendly but unfortunately the reception staff do not speak english very well and they are also not what you would call organized. The shuttle pick up from the airport when we arrived did not work, when we got to the hotel the guy on duty did not know we were coming (or anything else about a reception job at a hotel) either. They also managed to send the hire car company away saying we were not staying there and had never checked in. We had rooms for 3 different nights and each time we came they seemed very surprised to see us. For anyone spanish speaking great place, but I would not go again just because it gets annoying after a while!
It was low season so it was empty but thats not their fault
Nice typical italian grand hotel, good italian kitchen
