The hotel is in the perfect location, so close to the beach! The pool area is cute - set in a beautiful looking garden. Laura at reception is the most friendly helpful person. Great place to stay in Dominical
The bed was not the comfiest we have ever slept in
This hotel is the perfect small town Costa Rican hotel. The rooms are small but the property is gorgeous. We spent about an hour each afternoon in the pool and were amazed by the wildlife that surrounds the hotel...scarlet macaws fly from tree to tree, iguanas sunbathe on the pool deck and we saw a bascilus lizard literally walk on water in the pool right in front of us. The entire staff is friendly and helpful, especially Laura who was very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends that travel to Dominical. But don't buy Corona at the Diuwak store...way overpriced. Stick with the local Pilsen or Imperial beer. Great stay in Dominical!
Only good thing about this hotel was the location.
Where to start. Not even close to the pictures and description that are online. This facility is the worst I have ever experienced. The hotel itself is old, rundown, dank and dumpy. The hotel staff only spoke english when it was beneficial to them. Any complaints or concerns and they didn't understand. The rooms were very small, outdated and smelled. The room door hit the bed every time you opened it. Not enough room for our suitcases and had to leave things in the car. Only one electric outlet worked, the other was hanging out of the wall. The bedding was old and worn, not comfortable or even of decent quality. The bathroom was rundown. The shower did not even have a place to put your shower necessities. And as far as toiletries included, it was one old bar of soap, and only one towel per person no hand towel, no facecloth. The exterior grounds had no lighting what so ever!! We were in complete darkness at all times in the evening. Each time we left knowing we would be retuning when dark, we would leave the ac on low (due to the high humidity)and outdoor light on. Every time we returned they would be off and we would be fumbling in the dark to get to our room. One evening I twisted my ankle on a hole due to the dark, in the walkway, of course the front dest didn't understand that. The restaurant was equally as bad. Don't expect a full breakfast as advertised, very limited selection. The food was only ok and was overpriced. The waitress was awful!! She was no where to be found when needed. However when she would bring the bill, she would stand next to me until I payed. She would stay and wait for a tip. We were refused lunch one day because we arrived 15 minutes before closing. Due to an emergency, we were forced to cut our trip early. When I explained this to the front desk she refused to give any kind of refund. I asked to speak to the manager, who I could see sitting at a desk in an office behind the front desk.
The whole hotel is really old and battered. The water in the pool looked disgusting and the WLAN didn't work in our room, which was located 20 meters away from the front desk. This hotel ist definitively not worth the ~100$ we paid for one night!
They let us check-in 2hrs early
Standard room was verry small and outdated. Staff was not so friendly
Nice surroundings, close to the beach. Food in the restaurant is really nice, friendly staff.
Pool was not so clean, rooms have a quite simple design.
Nothing. The only positive thing I can think of is that the hotel is fairly close to the beach, but not on the beach (not a beach resort!) and that there are several restaurants and shops nearby, which is convenient. Air Conditioning worked fine. The food at breakfast was not bad quality, even though there were other "issues" with the breakfast service.
Staying at Diuwak was an extremely negative and stressful experience for us. Here is why: First the staff tries to give us a worse room than what we had booked and for a higher price. The room was a dump: it smelled moldy, bedsheets didn't look clean, towels were stained, there were two large crabs (!!) in the bathroom, windows didn't close properly... We requested the room we had booked (premium). That one was a little better, but still: stained towels and sheets, mold in the bathroom, the mattress on the bed was so bad that you practically rolled into the "valley" in the middle of it when two people tried to lie in the bed, the electric shower fixtures looked dubious, hot water was on and off (not consistent), WiFi was wonky, bedside lamp was broken, the room was next to a laundry/cleaning facility of the hotel (the cleaning staff laid out washed sheets onto the bushes in front of our room to dry in the sun)... The water in the pool didn't look very clean. Breakfast was very limited: only a few choices, a "buffet" where a member of the staff put a few things onto your plate instead of letting you take your own serving in the desired amount... Definitely not a 100USD/night place! When we wanted to check out earlier than originally planned (because the hotel was nothing like what was promised to us), the staff treated us with arrogance and tried to trick us into ridiculous, rip-off deals several times. We had to call booking.com and ask them to help resolve the situation - in the end, we got part of our money back in cash, minus the amount the bank charged the hotel for a credit card payment (how is the hotel's fee my problem?). Do NOT stay at this hotel - it was the second most expensive place we stayed during our 3-week long trip through Costa Rica and it was definitely the absolute worst!
Close to beach and central. Staff were helpful and breakfast was good. Pool nice and clean
Our preference is smaller properties so this was not good for us. Dominical was busy when we wanted to visit so hotel options were limited. Price higher than what we got.
The pool and grounds were amazing as well as located very close to the beach
Rooms are a little tired but definitely still comfortable and well lit
Not a lot actualy
When we arrived and entered the hotel the receptionist didn't even look at me to welcome me and ignored me completely. Than when she finally chose to help me she said she didn't have the suite I booked available. Even worse, there was NO room available. After my reaction I really booked the room via Booking.com and had a reservation number she started to make phone calls and eventually found a junior suite of which she charged me more than my booked suite. The hotel smelled like a sewerage everywhere. We had to leave early and when arriving at the restaurant for breakfast at 6.50 the waiter told us the buffet would only open at 7 so we decided to wait. At 7 nothing was ready, they started to prepare the buffet at 7, so we were to late at our appointment. And the cherry on the cake was that the cleaning lady started to brush the floor while we were having breakfast, bringing lots of dust in the air. We noticed all other guests were also not happy at all which made the atmosphere really negative. We have travelled for years through Costa Rica and this was deffinately the worst hotel we have ever stayed in this beautiful and friendly country. Never again!
Pool and Jackie was very nice !
Furniture is old, bathrooms are not very good.
Friendly staff cold air con secure parking
Very dated cheap mattress poor wi fi
Location and the swimming pool
Very nice staff Comfortable rooms Good breakfast
Nothing, except for the poor girl at reception who tried to help us and also the breakfast was good.
We booked (and paid) for 4 nights but only stayed for one as this hotel was so bad. The hotel is old and rooms very noisy. The room next to ours had a connecting door with 3 adults and at least 4 small children in it. This was a room for max 4 people. We did not have wifi, hot water (when we turned the hot on nothing came out) and the sofa was too dirty to even put down a suitcase. Also the aircon leaked all over the floor. We reported our issues to the receptionist who tried to help us however her manager refused to speak with us.
Breakfast was good
No hot water, noisy, zero attention by manager to property or service issues! This is 2 stars at best - it was so sub optimal we left after 1 night even though we had to pay for the full four nights. Stay elsewhere ....
WE could have our campfire on the beach....
The dirty ness... No luxury at all Dominical is actually just a place for backpackers.....
pool roomy room equiped kitchen
loud AC, skimpy on towles (no beach/ pool towles), untasty breakfast, bathtub floor was broken.
Clean rooms, pool and restaurant. 1 block from the surfing beach.
Standard rooms were very small with no refrigerator. TV was so high on the wall that it hurt your neck to watch. Very small screen, but it did have good selection of US channels. Poor quality linens and pillows.
