Our trip was mostly rejuvenation, health and to access the volcano and hot springs. We went to Arenal park and hiked the trail to the Volcano. We saw a Capibara but most other wildlife is best viewed in the early morning. There were a lot of orchids in bloom along the trails. Going to EcoTermales Hotspring was the highlight. It's a gorgeous naturally constructed spa with layered pools, waterfalls all built with stacked granite rockery, bridges and pathways connect the pools, and there's plenty of seating, an open bar that serves the best mixed drinks. The restaurant served fresh healthy assortment of seafood and meats with veggie dishes with dessert at Lunch. The water was fed from the natural hotspring, which was circulated , refreshed constantly with fresh volcanic water. Attention to the holistic elements of nature were throughout. Stunning location with an abundance of wildlife and...
Stunning location with an abundance of wildlife and beautiful views. El Castillo is a small village but la Fortuna is an easy drive and features resteraunt, bars and shops. Plenty of activities in the area (hot springs, nature walks and Adrenalin activities eg zip lining, quad biking). Essence Arenal is a great place to stay. Be warned, it can rain rather a lot! Amazing and tranquil.
Amazing and tranquil. Lush Green, very lovely and great hospitality. Strongly recommended for families and people looking to enjoy nature with a relaxed break. Fantastic restaurant at walking distance.

El Castillo was a sweet little town that was very friendly.
El Castillo was a sweet little town that was very friendly. The views from the drive up were amazing. Great little supermarket but it's a bit of a drive up some twisty, turny roads. It's close to the 1968 trail which was one of the best hikes I've done since being in Costa Rica for almost a year. The birds were also unreal!
