We have lived in CR for 15 years and are well atuned to the general level of services offered in the country and what they cost. Thus, with the Mono Feliz we were extremely disappointed. Not only did we get a very poor quality cramped room with poor ventilation and a tiny bathroom at an overpriced rate, but the service was "amargado", i.e. consistently with an upleasant attitude. As well, 15" prior to the check-out time, we found that the owner had entered our room to start moving our things out since they had other guests coming in later that day. In all my years of travel around the world I have never seen someone do that and found it most distasteful. Maybe they were having a bad day, but regardless, our stay there was not enjoyable and we would not go back...you can do much better in Costa Rica
The location is decent if you like to go trail-running in the morning and not be right on the beach (nor close to it) with all the traffic and noise. The hotel feels a bit off the beaten-track and out of the tourism noise, but is actually quite close to good restaurants and good beaches.
