    Location and helpfulness of staff

Our room was neat but not terribly clean. The dorm fridge had not been cleaned in some time nor had the area under the beds and bedside tables. Small window opened into interior of hotel so no fresh air or breeze except the ceiling fan.

The staff at Hotel Eskalima was very friendly and attentive. I was at the hotel before I left Costa Rica (because it's only 4.000 colones for the taxi fare to the airport) and the night staff offered to make me breakfast at 5am!

Proximity to airport. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Everything was neat and clean.

Very thin walls- not sound proof a bit. The doors don't seem very secure- hollow core and not very strong locksets. Lack of AC or any air flow to first floor rooms makes them hot and stuffy.

Great welcoming and very helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms with everything you might need, close to the airport, great spa and massage, excellent value for your money.

The location is great if you are going to the airport, but not much for anything else, unless you have some business in this area.

The Staff was so friendly... we loved them. They helped us so much. The rooms were small but comfy. They gave us maps and directions that helped greatly. Thanks...

Stayed there one night because it's close to the airport. No other reason to go there really.

Has multiple beds in each room, makes it easier to book a group of travelers. Appreciate the washing and folding of laundry. Breakfast was really good.

A few minutes drive from the international airport. Cheap. The room is clean and the staff nice and attentive.

Extremely noisy during the night we stayed in, no window in the room (a window to the corridor does not count) and therefore, there is a weird smell there, the neighbourhood is not very nice but there is a pizza hut nearby so you do not need to be outside.

Staff, Yolanda and Marcella (sp?), were most helpful. They changed my room when I asked as there was a slight misunderstanding when I booked online. They were excellent. In my new room however, there was no toilet paper and I needed to ask for the refrigerator to be turned on. Minor complaints. I will stay here again and recmsnd it to friends.

Just as above. When showing a guest the room the staff person should do a quick check that everything is as should be to meet the hotels excellent standards.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Andres! Room was clean. Breakfast was decent. For the reasonable price, it was what I would expect.

Wifi was ok, not great. Towels were rough and bed was very hard.

The location of this hotel was convenient to the San Jose Airport. It was very easy to get a taxi early in the morning for a 6am flight. The taxi ride was 3000 colones (about $6). The room was relatively clean, and the traffic noise from the street died down later in the evening. The staff accommodated my request during booking for a quieter room away from the street.

I was disappointed that I did not receive the same level of service that others have stated they received in their reviews. Others had stated that the hotel staff had offered them a basic breakfast to eat before their 4am departure for the airport. No such offer was made to me. Also, during check-in I requested a taxi be waiting at 4am, but when I arrived at the front desk the next morning the taxi service had not been called yet. Although the room was relatively clean, there were noticeable amounts of dirt in the shower. Overall, for a one night stay to accommodate an early flight departure, this hotel was adequate and a good price.

the staff helped us with everything we needed. They really did for us more then we expected. We needed many inquiries and they did it for us and we got a good service from all of them.

The location of the hotel is in a very bad area. Not a place to walk in the night and even during twilight time is not a pleasant location.

It was really close to the airport. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly. We had to leave at 3AM to catch our flight, and the staff woke up and made us breakfast!

The walls were a little thin.

Very clean and quiet, mainly because the room was in a basement. Comfortable beds and excellent shower. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with maps and suggestions about places to eat and booking a taxi for us. We stayed only one night as a last night in the country.

Because it was in a basement the room did not have a window, except into the corridor/atrium. That was a bit weird but I would take the quiet over a window any day. Don't stay if you are claustrophobic.

I was only staying in San Jose for one night and Hotel Eskalima was the perfectly affordable and comfortable location i needed. I speak very minimal Spanish and the staff were very patient and happy to help me.
