Charming hotel. Convenient to everything I wanted to see in San Jose.
The building was very cute and clean. We felt really safe staying there, although we found San Jose a bit stressful safety-wise. The stuff gave us info about everything and were very friendly. They offered a free drink with our check-in. The restaurant looked really good although we didn't get to try it. Very good price! The location was also perfect. It's in the middle of the most interesting part of San Jose
good location excellent reakfast lovely bar outside with live music free welcome drink
Loved everything about the hotel and will be staying again soon.
The only downfall is the noise of trains hooting as they pass through from 4am until about 7.30pm. It surprised us the first night but we got more used to it from then.
A beautiful hotel with spacious rooms right in the center of San Jose. A great deal if you're interested in seeing what there is to see in the city.
WiFi was slow.
Close location to the city centre. Nice arrangement inside the hotel.
Close to the hotel there is a railway line. Fortunately used only a couple of times a day.
Location, Staff, Value for the money. , free internet, room with a balcony.
Proximity to the central part of San Jose.
We had very bad and strong smell (probably from plumbing system, but it was coming from somewhere in the floor) in the room. Hopefully our room was changed on request for the second night but the double bed was so unstable and shaky that even the slightest move of one person was waking up the other one. We couldn't sleep either. Walls are paper thin - you can here your neighbors talking (even in low voice) and making love. Others can hear you too! The trains that pass right next to the hotel blow their horns from 5 a.m. on. If you want to have some sleep, go somewhere else.
good breakfast cleanliness
Right by central avenue and things to do and places to eat.
We just got back from our first trip to Costa Rica. We stayed at the Fleur De Lys for two nights at the beginning and one night at the end of our trip. The staff was incredibly friendly and Cesar went out of his way for us-- getting us a beautiful upstairs room and giving us boxed breakfasts to take with us on our last day because we had to leave before breakfast began. Beautiful building, safe location close to major tourist attractions, great breakfast, live music, amazing art--we would definitely come back here. Thanks Fleur De Lys for an awesome experience!!
Despite not having our reservation, they honored my receipt from booking.com and actually upgraded our room. Charming building, excellent staff, and free welcome cocktail at the bar. Definitely an older crowd than what we were used to seeing on our trip.
Our reservation with booking.com wasn't sent to the hotel.
Everything! Appearance: Cute, pink Victorian house with wood flooring and just the most charming tropical and Central American decorations. Talk about character! Facilities/Cleanliness/Comfort/Quality of sleep: Perfect. The bed was no Tempur-pedic, but in the upper range of places I've found in Central America, especially for a budget hotel. Everything was kept meticulously, with free shampoo and shower gel. Everything is clean, pretty, comfortable, and well-functioning. Location: right off of Avenida 2, which runs through the heart of San Jose. Staff: Just the best. The absolute best. They'll do anything to help; they go above and beyond to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Alex, Jose, Jeffrey, and Maria are just a few of the people who made my stay so lovely that I had to come back when I returned to San Jose: and I even got a free upgrade to a gorgeous suite with jacuzzi! Value: unbelievable. The best :)
Honestly speaking, San Jose. My best days in Costa Rica were spent a) up in Serrapiqui (Heredia) doing a canopy/whitewater rafting tour and b) in this hotel. No kidding lol. If you're in CR, I'd recommend staying somewhere on the coast, but if you're in San Jose, then you *must* say at Fleur de Lys.
Good location, close to central San Jose Cosy bar area. Super nice staff, v helpful! Good value breakfast.
Wifi patchy and slow but generally ok.
Bit noisy with the trains but clean and comfortable and great breakfast.
Noise from trains
We loved the decor in the hotel--tasteful and beautiful.
Beds uncomfortable as per usual in CR.
I'm very pleased with the superior quality of the staff. They all extended themselves to ensure that my stay was most enjoyable.
Terrific location. Easy safe parking. Very good breakfast. Super bar with great pina coladas.
Trains start very early and hoot like crazy.
Breakfast, as well as dinner meals were excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean.
"Hortensia" room--no window for five days! On return to San Jose, stayed in "Heliconia" on the third floor with nice window and mountain/city views. . . much better! Would have preferred to have had a room safe for valuables.
Our room was clean and cosy, a little dark though. The breakfast was awesome - Gallo Pinto !!! The staff was excellent, always very friendly and very helpfull even with planning trips.
The train siren is an issue. It is very loud and it starts at 6.30 and passes every half an hour. But only on week days. During the weekend we slept safe and sound.
Great service price amazing. And food great
Good privacy in room. Lovely bathroom. Breakfast was excellent! Good proximity to local attractions/amenities. I felt hotel matched advertised website description.
Filtered water only available intermittently. Train noise may bother some. Some staff seemed unwilling to provide assistance, but I would definitely stay there again.
Everything was fabulous. A real jewel. It is beautifully decorated. Most important things like nice beds, linens, towels, pillows, nice bathroom and hot water. Superb breakfast. Thank you. I am an innkeeper also and will recommend this place to my clients.
We had a very nice stay here! The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. We also arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport (you can email them and ask for it). Julio, our driver, was very helpful and drove us to the bus terminal the following day as well. Overall we had a great stay and will probably visit again. Highly recommended!
The wifi was a little slow at times
Extremely quaint building. Good rooms and great bar and restaurant.
Trains start at 5.30am along with church bells soon afterwards. Not good for sleeping in.
