nice big room great location, just around the corner of the pedestrian zone with all kinds of Shops and Restaurants Breakfast on top floor with a nice view friendly helpful stuff Ayuda más si te hablas español

rooms facing the Main Entrance are very noise (Traffic) waterpipes should be maintained, water in the shower didn't have enough pressure

It's in a good location close to shopping and museums.

Bathrooms dirty. Showers did not work well. Everything was old & it looks like the management just does not care :( sad because you can tell that it used to a very nice place long long long ago !! We paid almost $100.00 per night also for Costa Rica & were disappointed.

Central location

Rude unfriendly unsmiling indifferent front desk staff. Wet bar in room unstocked. No instructions in room about how to use telephone. Dialing "0" for operator gets you a busy signal. So you have to run down to front desk where, when you ask how to reach hotel operator they look at you like you are crazy and tell you to "press 9". They then snicker when you thank them. Hotel Internet does not work. Old , worn out furnishings.

The location is exceptionnal, in the very heart of the city. Old style hotel very charming Valet Parking overall easy. Very nice bar and restaurant but expensive.

Most of the staff are not helpful at all, except a couple of young Ladies at the reception desk who are nice and always ready to fine a solution to any problems. Staff in the restaurant for breakfast are almost rude and not easy going at all. We stayed for 10 nights and had booked a superior room. But it was very small, old furnished and most of the utilities in the bathroom did not work properly. We asked to move to another room but the response was firm and was no way. Not commercial at all for a stay of 10 nights when you think most clients do not stay more than a couple of nights if not only one. Christian COFFINET Paris, Francia

The restaurant was very very good the hotel is located in the city

- The personal at the reception was total unfriedly and not very helpful and arrogant - the room was very dirty - the mini bar was empty, thanks alot for that! - the battery of the save was empty - the room was very very loud, located next to the room of the cleaing personal and the sound of the air fans behind the windows - really terrible! - no air condition in the room (and belive me this is really needed in Costa Rica) - it was the worstest hotel during my whole stay in Costa Rica - for europe/US conditions the hotel and room, maximum 2 Stars, but never never never 4 Stars!

Extremely hot in the room. No air conditioning!!! We left the hotel after first night.

Can't beat the location, dead-center of San Jose. Good restaurant with live music.

No air-conditioning, a fan that couldn't go at a speed that would actually move any air, and windows opening to a secluded roof-space which housed 8 air-conditioning exhausts. The temperature inside the room was easily 5 degrees centigrade higher than in the hallways or outside. We had a very uncomfortable night.

Excelente trato del personal, son muy atentos sin ningún tipo de distinción.

La ubicación del hotel es muy buena, puedes conocer las prinicpales atracciones culturales de San José sin tener que trasladarte en vehículo, ya que todo queda caminando

pour la 2ème fois dans cet hôtel qui est très bien situé mais un peu vieillot !!!! Chambre grande (supérieure) agréable

Ubicacion, atencion y precio.

La cama muy dañada... Como vieja... Y el baño no tiene respiradero efectivo... Expira olores desagradables de tuberia....

Es un hotel con mucha historia. Con un personal presto a atender cualquier necesidad del huesped. Tiene un excelente restaurante y muy buena ubicación. Permite a acceder a pie al teatro Nacional y Melico Salazar. También está proximo a la Avenida Central. Me gustó mucho.

Todo estuvo bien. No tengo ninguna queja del Gran Hotel Costa Rica.

Personal, Servicio, instalaciones, limpieza, confort, diseño, arquitectura, su historia, y ubicación.

Mejorar en cuanto a la disponibilidad de equipos de aire acondicionados en las habitaciones.

Buena ubicacion. Conexion gratuita a internet.

Het is echt een ouderwets grand hotel eigenlijk een van de weinige redenen om in San José te overnachten

De locatie. De kamers waren schoon en netjes. Het ontbijt met uitzicht op de bergen rondm San Jose is prachtig.

Je kon alleen met creditcard/ bankpas betalen en iet cash. Op zich geen probleem, maar ik had dat niet (goed genoeg?) gezien op de website/ booking.com.
