The place is the paradise, far from anything and really beautiful. The young staff was incredibly attentive and well trained.
That we stayed only one night and the effort to get in and out... mostly to get out, because it was a pity to leave.
You probably can't get much closer to Corcovado's eastern entrance! Although a tent with sea view is nice, I'd rather recommend one of the tents higher up. The surf IS making a lot of noise, so it's quieter up there and much cooler as well (but you have to make the "climb" each time). Besides, first thing we saw getting to our tent was a group of howler monkeys feeding in the trees around our tent (it's called Monkey Camp for a reason). I'd recommend staying at least two days if you want to go to Corcovado NP. There is a maximum of 6 persons per group (and a guide is mandatory anyway). If there aren't enough guides you might not be able to go to the park on short notice, which would be a shame really. If you don't want to have lunch or dinner at the lodge you need to bring your own stuff. Food was really good, but quite pricey (which is understandable given that Puerto Jiménez is 90 mins. away and the lodge is another 3km from the end of the road). Still, portions could have been bigger for that price (USD 25 for dinner).
On two out of three days our tent with private bathroom had no water, so we had to use the common bathroom anyway. I can understand that with a lot of people using (too much) water the tanks empty fairly quickly, but given you have to pay extra for a private bathroom, it was still a bit annoying to have to go down to the lodge to shower 2 days out of 3. They didn't think of at least offering us a small discount for the inconvenience.
Beautiful area, extremely peaceful and relaxed :) Good food! (Ask for an extra portion if it's not enough, they wont charge you) Very friendly staff
nothing at all
The ocean location
The bed was terrible! The prices are to high for what you get, including meals are to expensive and not worth the money
The location is great, the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.
Cold shower and the meals are a bit pricey - though it's understanable as it's very difficult to get things from there
Meals cost ... but i guess that's the price to eat at the ends of the earth !
Localization is wonderful, the guide Jim quite good and professional.
By the time we arrived the left us in the beach "just walk till you get the "hotel". No one help us...it ia strange they have a horse to carry our luggage but the guests need to walk almost 3 km..the heat was horrible and we had no water...by the check out was even worse...we did hiking for 5 hours in the middle of the jungle (was awesome!!) and the they did not help us to do the way back, we needed to walk for 45 minutes, was 35 degrees...the food is so much expensive(25 usd) for a meal that i sould not pag more than 10 usd... In short, the place is amazing due its localization but is a rip off!!
Loved the view and the cabins over looking the beach.
End of nowhere! Really long hike to get there. No air conditioning. Very humid, noisy at night from waves. Not worth all that drive. Saw less animals than in the rest of Costa Rica.
Stunning setting, lovely and helpful staff, delicious food. Paradise really.
Close to the Corcovado National Park. Remote from everything else.
Meals are a but small portions.
I spent 10 days traveling in Costa Rica, 3 were spent at La Leona and it was by far the highlight of the trip. The tents were clean, comfortable and had amazing views. The staff were extremely friendly and informative. Danilo was the best tour guide we met while in Costa Rica. The full day national park tour with him is a must!
