Score from 82 reviews Very good
Stayed here for a night with my partner and it was such a nice hotel, the infinity pool had a great view. Jacuzzi was lovely and warm. Food wa good but quite expensive. The room was clean but no air con as was advertised, but not so much of a problem for us..... The hotel is a bit out of the way, and ideally need a 4x4 to drive the only 10k dirt track road to the hotel, but then you wouldn't have the great views.
No air con. Really noisy music close by till about midnight
Incredible views in a remote location, outstanding value, very relaxing and quite, only 2km from Sky Trek the best zip line company in Costa Rica.
Beautiful place. Nice view. Pool and dining hall is spectacular.
Fan was too small in the room. Very hot at night.
Very nice hotel! Beautiful grounds and helpful staff. spectacular views from every angle! Close to volcano, national park, and many activities.
Public road on the way to the hotel is very challenging!
Views are great of the lake and volcano. Pool area is nice but small. Lots of tours on offer.
The room we stayed in was filthy. It was 'cleaned' everyday by the cleaners however they just made the bed and changed the towels. The room itself was crawling with ants and other bugs. On the first day we killed a moth and it left marks on the mirror. The same marks were there on day 4 of our stay which shows the room does not get a good clean. The decor is dated and could do with an uplift. We stayed for 4 nights and I only wish we had not stayed that long. There are so many nicer places we could have stayed in that area. We would not stay here again.
We had a spacious room with a balcony and a view on the impressive Arenal volcano and lake. It was clean and we had WiFi in the room. There's was a pool and spa, wich was nice. The food at the restaurant was good. We enjoyed our stay.
Loved the staff, the pool, the assistance with booking local horseback riding and fishing excursions. My kids loved the on-site friendly dogs and cat.
Bed ok but could have been way more comfy. Needed better quality towels:)
This hotel is atop the mountains in el castillo la fortuna. It really was a beautiful experience to be up there (although it was overcast at the time we were there so we couldnt see the volcano). The external and internal surrounds were just so pleasing to take in. The food was delicious in the on-site restaurant and the staff were super friendly and nice; also english was easily spoken. Tours easy to organise from here also.
THe beds were a little outdated and uncomfortable, although this is hardly a criticism as the hotel and surrounds were so beautiful. Highly recommend your transport driver knows where to go as this hotel is not in la fortuna centre but some 30 mins from town. Our driver was from San Jose and went past Lake Arenal, 45 mins in the wrong direction before we found the place!
This hotel has one of the best views of both the lake and volcano in the area. The open air hot tub was also great for relaxation. All the staff were very courteous and helpful. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Not much to dislike, except the VERY long and bumpy road required to get there.
The views are absolutely gorgeous and all the setting too. Rooms and the bathroom are normal, very big and spacious, although not of the last fashion. Wi-fi worked well. The balcony with the views of Arenal lake is great.
Our experience with this hotel did not start in the best way... Upon arrival I checked "how to arrive" information and as there was nothing alarming, just forgot about it. The map showed a road on the south side of the lake and it looked like 1 hour drive (we were coming from Monteverde). The problem is that to go there from Monteverde it would be either the paved road on the north of the Arenal lake or the unpaved road on the south of the lake (which neither the map, not the hotel said). Of course, we had no time to go from the north, so with all the detailed instructions by the locals we set around 4 pm from the south side. It still took us more than 4hrs and it was an adventure :). There were nearly no road signs, the road was a dirt and stones narrow path (other maps don't even show it, as we found out later), we had to cross like 6 rivers, including the last one which we reached at dark and it was too large to see where/if the road continued on the other side. So we came back several km to the first (and only) house to ask for advice how to cross that river and at which point :). Indeed, we found the continuation of the road. So much for the arrival information. Btw, I tried to call the hotel at least 4-5 times around 7 pm, to ask for driving instructions and nobody answered. If you don't arrive from Monteverde, but from Arenal, the roads are normal, you only have several km of the unpaved road. If the hotel had provided the necessary information, we would have not lost all the time and our impressions would have been much different. We had a dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was just OK. The fajitas tasted good, but were cold. Breakfast was also just acceptable. In fact, there is only a buffet for fruit and then you can choose between continental or American breakfast. Neither was neither abundant nor excellent. Just OK.
Really hard beds.
Nice location, staff really friendly, a good place to stay
The food was not so good compare to other place in Costa Rica, better to eat in an other place
the best view of Lake Arenal (and TWO volcanos) - amazing pool - quiet/remote location but doable with any kind of car. WE LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!!!
The surroundings and the view are beautiful. We really appreciated the kindness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the room. Food is also very good.
Awesome location--loved waking up and going to bed looking at Volcan Arenal.
Friendly helpful staff, lovely hotel BUT it is 8km down a dirt track. Very bumpy ride. I would have stayed in La Fortuna town if I had realised as you still get views there of Arenal.
8 km bumpy dirt track to get to the hotel.
View at the Volcano from the Room
Restaturant, food not realy good
The stuff was very friendly and helpful giving the advices about what to do in the area. We were welcome with a fruit cocktail which we enjoyed at the pool admiring an amazing view of the Arenal lake and volcano. The breakfast was very good and included in the room rate. The rooms were spacy, clean and air-conditioned equipped with a coffee/thee maker.
The hotel is located off-road and getting there takes a bit of time, probably impossible to reach without the car.
The location was perfect with great views. The staff very nice and helpful. The restaurant food/breakfast very good. All in all, we would highly recommend to anybody.
The mattresses were a little hard.
the view from the pool, from the room, from the terrace; the welcome drink, the food for dinner and breakfast, the surrounding vegetation and trees to the entrance to the hotel. we would definitely return or recommend this hotel.
the last stretch of the road was bumpy.
volcano view meals were good staff was polite
Junior room thin wall, could hear neighbours too well. Bathroom not at par, not enough light in room, furniture not comfortable, many ants in front of door, road to hotel very bumpy.
Lovely grounds and views. Quiet. Staff were all great. Best breakfast in Costa Rica.
The rain :-)
The views are magnificent Free welcome cocktail
Amazing staff, rooms, view, infinity pool, & location. Very pretty! Clean rooms with absolutely spectacular views.
Restaurant food was good but very overpriced. Captive audience I suppose. Pool area/Pool bar/Pool washrooms...all a bit run down & not quite clean...
Great views to the lake and the volcano. The pool area and the jacuzzi was really nice. The staff did speak fluent english! The place is far away from La Fortuna and a bit difficult to access, I wouldn't book this place without having a rental car.
