Uncomfortable bed and pillow
Anthony at reception was so friendly an helpful from the moment we booked. Location is very convenient, a few minutes walk into town and nice and peaceful. Room was fine with a double bed and bunks for the kids. Shelves for storage and a desk was really handy, plus having a fridge is always a bonus. Great, affordable choice.
Helpful staff and great owners; we didn't rent a car and Bernard gave us rides into town and to the bus station. Great breakfast; probably the best we had in Costa Rica. Location was quiet and out of Quepos just enough to be away from the crowds,
Not one thing!
Clean rooms, big bathrooms, good breakfast. Very polite and helpfull people.
Avoid the rooms on the ground floor, if possible.
The view Helpful staff Spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable Quiet
I couldn't fault this hotel
good wifi connection nice breakfast, coffee all day long. free parking space great location nicest and helpful crew, they helped us with any question we had and fixed us a shuttle to the canopy. we wanted to stay for another night it they easily agreed.
we had problems with hot water in the shower, so the next day we moved to another room and there was still a problem with the hot water... we got a room next to the reception, it didn't feel so private, and it was a bit noisy.
The host and his wife are a great people and very friendly and accommodating. They will advise you with any question you have. Wonderful breakfast (included in the rate). Free coffee, tea any time before 9 pm.
The property located in the mountains. Roads are unpaved and rocky. You MUST have 4 wheels drive car there, preferably SUV with 4x4 option. The room is very small for 3 people and looks like cabin, rather than hotel or motel. Very uncomfortable mattress and thin flat pillow. Water in the shower not hot, rather slightly warm
Superfriendly staff, clean rooms, very decent beds :D
Very friendly staff, helpfull with giving advice and arranging things. Spacious room with great bathroom. Warm blankets available (as it can get cold in Monteverde).
The staff is amazing. The owner is realy kind. So clean. THE place to go!!!
Very friendly staff! Great location!:) Very clean!
The weather was bad, but hotel has nothing to do with it:))
Actually everything was great when we stayed at Mar Inn for two nights. The place is located just next to the center of Monteverde town (2 minutes walk) where you've got some shops, groceries, restaurants. The staff was extraordinary friendly. It's a family business and you really feel comfortable from the very first step you make into this Bed and Breakfast! I would go definitely go there again!
Nothing to complain about!
The room was bigger than I expected, nice hot shower, comfortable beds. We were late for breakfast but they were so nice to still serve us a nice breakfast. The owner is very helpfull when it comes to information and booking activities.
- Clean - Good location - friendly and helpful staff
- a bit loud. The walls are thin voices/steps carry sound across rooms. Hotel next door has a pation next to the rooms at Mar Inn so it can get noisy.
My boyfriend and myself were so happy with this place we could not believe it was as it was for the price we paid. It's the best value for money I've had throughout a 3 months trip across Central America. 1. Anthony is super helpful, friendly and welcoming, plus he speaks very good English if your Spanish is not great. He can help you organizing all sort of tours from there. 2. The room was clean, spacious and aside of the basic stuff it also icluded a very large bathroom, hot water, a decent hairdryer, a safe, a fridge and plenty of crisp white towels (all things we got used to do without for that sort of price). 3. The location was perfect! Just 5 minutes walk from all the shops and restaurants in Santa Elena, but separated enough to be quiete. 4. The breakfast, included in our room fare was delicious and filling (best gallo pinto I had!) and you could choose through a few different options. 5. The free wi-fi worked perfectly in our room, I have to say it was the best and most reliable we've had throughout this trip. If you're looking for a party type of lodging, this is not for you (although you'll get plenty of options in the nearby town), but other than that I cannot fault this place and I'd recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
I have no negative comments at all!
Staff very helpful with finding tours and giving advice on what to visit. They are very friendly. Comfortable rooms and safe. Breakfast was delicious with pancakes and fruit and eggs. Reasonably close to Monteverde park and very close to downtown Santa Elena.
Parking was tricky with only 3 spots for all rooms, and cannot park in the street. The rooms were a little small but comfortable. No refrigerator or microwave in our room.
Mar Inn is in a quiet location, but close to the Center of Santa Elena (5 minutes walk). Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and gave us good advice on activities we could do.
Our door was next to the entrance and not well isolated. So it was noisy at night when guests came back from town. Rooms in the upper floor are probably more quiet.
- rooms are not very big, but clean - beds are decent - Anthony was very helpfull and friendly - nice pancakes
- shower was not very hot (but not cold eather) - breakfast was less than the standard gallo pinto breakfast we got in other places (but good and fresh)
We really like hotel "mar inn" and from the moment we got there we felt like home. Anthony and Tatiana were great hosts, they suggested tours that were great And made great breakfast with big variety of choice. The room was very nice and clean, the hotel is locate in nice area and very close to city center. We have no doubt that we will return to thia hotel. Was great!
We liked everything
The Mar Inn is a great value B&B because it is quiet but close to everything in Santa Elena. They serve tasty breakfasts and provide assistance for all Monteverde activities.
- anthony is a very friendly and helpful guy, he answered all our questions and helped us to organise the tours we wanted to do - room was spacious, had all facilities and was cleaned every day - very nice breakfast - very close to the center of town, must check out restaurant Morpho if you are there because of the excellent food and service!!
The owner and his son were very helpful in assisting us with booking our zip lining and horse back riding tours. The room was very reasonably priced and the breakfast was very good!
The man at the desk was very pleasant and helpful. He found information for us and also made reservations for tours and transport. Breakfast was nice. Enjoyed the rocking chairs on the balcony. Quiet location a bit above the town, but still an easy walk.
Great value. Room was clean and functional but not fancy. Free breakfast was excellent. Anthony was very helpful in arranging activities. Location was convenient except the last 100 feet of unpaved rutted road.
We loved how close we were to everything we wanted to do - zip lining, hiking, coffee tours, horseback riding, etc. Anthony was delightful and full of great advice about things to see and do and eat. He went out of his way to make our time in Santa Elena the best it could be.
The walls and floors are thin so if you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend bringing earplugs.
