Hotel Santo Tomas  

Staff was extremely Friendly and helpful. Hotel itself was great and had a nice pool, spa and gym. Rooms were Very elegant.

Friendly, helpful staff, with lots of smiles. Clean, well furnished and maintained rooms. Our nice balcony overlooking the pool area even had comfortable chairs and a table for a refreshing beverage.

The bar was not ever open! The restaurant was not open either. We, and many other guests, left the hotel to buy food and drinks. But, there was nowhere to keep your drinks cold (refrigerator or ice)

A town center location & noisy local roads/traffic noise was early and disturbed your sleep

Loved just about everything-the location is great and the hotel is so clean and well maintained-would stay here again when in San Jose

location, grounds, friendly staff. everyone was very helpful. the wifi was great. the drinks at the bar were wonderful. the breakfast hit the spot and the central location allowed easy exploration of the city.

Split week vacation 2 nights city, 3 nights beach, 2 nights city. On return from beach, hotel was not as accommodating with my situation as first visit.

The owner of hotel very personable & helpful with info around San Jose & beyond. These traits reflected in his staff.

If you come in late at night as I did the location can be unnerving. Once there very comforting.

We booked this hotel before leaving home for its central location in san Jose and decided not to organise the rest of our trip until we arrived. Great decision as on meeting the owner of the hotel he swiftly assessed our vague plans and organised everything for us including car hire and even jumping in the car with us when we left town to direct us through the city traffic and onto the right road. Thomas and his team could not have been more helpful. The hotel was extremely clean, welcoming and very much as described on booking.com.

Great hotel for the price. The owner thomas was very helpful, even drove me and my son to golf course. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Carlos the bartender was superb. Forgot credit card overnight at bar, and it was waiting for me at front desk, with no charges on it.food was very good. Just from walking around city, it looks like the cleanest and newest of any hotel. Will definetly stay there again.

The staff is wonderful and very helpful. We had a balcony room which makes all the difference because it is full of light.

Toilet was old and smelled bad. People sitting in restaurant talking loud and drinking in the evening, thank god for my ear plugs.

Location not so good at night.

Everything. I was greeted upon arrival by the owner, Tomas, an American man. He stayed and chatted with me while check in desk was busy. We shared travel stories etc. lovely man. Made me feel right at home. The jacuzzi and pool were perfect after a long bus journey to just relax. Beer was cheap. All staff were very friendly. Place was super clean and oh my goodness the bed was amazing! I wish I could have stated more than one night however I am on a bus mission to Mexico City for Dia de Los Muertos!

Your quoted rate was not honored!!!! The desk said, "rate was just to hold room reservation"....we were charged $48.00 dollars more for the 4 days.... YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT WHAT YOU LIST ON YOUR SITE IS WHAT THE HOTEL CHARGES!!!

I was very happy with the hotel. The staff were very accommodating and the room was quiet and clean. It was an excellent price for its location downtown, within walking distance of everything in el centro, and good advice/map from the staff.

The restaurant was not open for lunch, and the free breakfast didn't have much choice, but there are plenty of places to eat close by. This may be the case only in the off-season, I don't know.

The manager was very friendly and when he heard my husband was on crutches he upgraded us for free. He also got my parents a better room for the same price when they visited us. Also, one of our mornings we slept in past the breakfast time and they served us anyway. The staff recommended a great place for lunch down the street and even recommended a cheaper place for me to do my laundry instead of their own laundry service.

Waiting with our car in the street while one of us had to enter the hotel and ask them to open the parking area was somewhat annoying. However it was safer if it was open all the time.

I liked everything about this hotel. It's a small, cozy, family oriented hotel with great service and excellent food service.The staff was very attentive and simpathetic. The hotel owner was always around and making himself useful. Our experience was excellent. I would recommend this hotel and wilkl definitely stay there on my next visit to San Jose, Costa Rica.,

True of most of the places I stayed in Costa Rica, the showers could have been a bit up to date with a good spray. also, the room was quite dim, which I can appreciate given the new lighting requirements and low wattage bulbs, but a bit brighter would be nice. I like to read at night and it was pretty dim in the room.
