Beautiful setting with easy to enjoy gardens even in the rain; friendly, helpful staff; quiet location with lots of birds, frogs and other jungle sounds to help you fall asleep. Nice restaurant.
Walkway blocks were slippery and treacherous when wet and impossible to pull luggage over. Very little soundproofing between units; if you have noisy neighbours it ruins the serenity.
Loved having breakfast in the little garden. The restaurant was great, staff warm and wonderful.Food was presented beautifully.Jordan is a great host and was so good to us.
The hotel is situated about a minutes walk from town. Far enough away from the noise at night but still very close. The hotel itself was beautiful and it was surrounded by so much wildlife. Jordan was an amazing host and we couldn't have asked him for more favours and we are very grateful for everything that he did for us! The food was amazing too, and we would definitely return!
Excellent value and convenient location to surrounding attractions.
There was nothing wrong with this place.
The food was excelent, staff very helpful
The tub didn't work lighting in bathroom very dim
The food was great and the grounds and the pool were fantastic, also the owner Jordan was very nice and helpful. And I had a good massage!
The fact that there wasn't enough hot water to fill the jacuzzi tub, and the stairs at night needed a night light!
Room was comfortable, spacious and clean. Pool was well maintained and the food in the restaurant was good.
The room was street facing and next to the restaurant, so there was some noise and because the balcony let to the restaurant there was little privacy out in it.
I booked a room for 2 nights at 80$ they want me to charge a 5% for paying with debit card, I disagree because that wasn't on the terms and conditions when I booked. So they only charge in CR currency with the exchange they want. I'm from Costa Rica, I will not return there. Hot water is intermittent, Lot of noise from other rooms, the odor from toilets from other rooms are perceptible from our room
The price is great and the room was tranquil. We had the suite overlooking the pool and very much enjoyed our stay. It is close to Puerto and is only a couple minute walk. We will be staying again and bringing the children next time. They will definitely enjoy the pool.
The parking was the only thing that I had any concerns about. It is off of the main road but is not really secure and is very dark if you arrive back at your room in the evening. I would recommend a bit more light and some type of security. Not a big deal though, just don't keep things in your car.
The staff made this place. Two ladies in particular were very helpful and researched details of dentists nearby, speaking to them to arrange an appointment.
Lots of bugs and ants in room on first night. But this is expected as it's surrounded by jungle! No bad points really.
I loved the tranquil property design. They have a awesome pool and even a SLOTH GARDEN where sloths can be seen while you are swimming. The family who owns this place where some of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met. They not only provided the best service me and my family could ask for but they completed every request and question with the utmost love. The rooms are decorated with a romantic and Japanese inspired way with air condition! Cant wait to go back!
Liked garden and the pool. The staff were very friendly. Room size was big. Stayed in the double room which cost 40$. Loved all the wildlife and the geckos running around everywhere.
Wifi was only avail in the restaurant, not in the room.
We read some mixed stuff regarding the location, but do not fear it is not kilometres from the centre of town. The sea is basically across the road (not that you would want to swim in it there) and it is a 5 to 10 minute walk to the amenities of town, but it is non stop shops, restaurants etc on the way so you are not in the middle of nowhere. There is a good Soda just across the road which does well priced and tasty cakes as well as other things. Bike rental place a few minutes out of town (as you leave Lotus Garden, right, on the right side of the road, it is a small place run by an Italian called Ivan) and we would recommend the cycle to Punta Uva for a few dollars. We were greeted by the owners who were friendly and helpful, showing us the sloth in the garden, etc. We took advantage of a promotion and got a air con room for $5 cheaper than normal. We also saw the non-air con rooms which are much further back from the pool/reception area and not as well decorated. The paving slabs were very slippery in the rain, so perhaps having to walk more on these would be an issue; however we felt that for the increase in money the air con rooms were not really worth the price. Non-air con rooms were also bigger and still nice, but we didn't choose them because since they were surrounded by trees etc, we thought there would be more mosquitoes, etc at night. On the other hand, these rooms may have been perfect to avoid the bar noise at night. Bed was a good size and sleep was okay except the final night where loud music from a bar kept one of us awake till the early hours (never forget your earplugs wherever you go!). We had no humidity issues and the air con was very useful. Pool and gardens nice.
We were offered a room next to the swimming pool in the first place, but we realised it had a power generator or something like that in the wall, so they recognised sometimes it could be a little bit noisy. For that reason they offered us the one above it. At dusk we wouldn't recommend to be at the pool, it was full of mosquitoes in a second. Like other places in Costa Rica no mosquito nets were provided which we find odd. Only place we stayed on this trip that did not provide breakfast of any sort, and when combined with the fairly high price I think better value needs to be achieved. All that needs to be provided is bread and jam and that is the breakfast tick done and brings hotel more in line with competitors. The aforementioned paving slabs in a Gaudi-esque style were pretty but potentially lethal in the rain. Doors to balcony were not the easiest to open. Mattress was probably worse we came across in our trip and springs could be felt through it, pillow was also too thin so I had to use a t-shirt for head support. No wardrobe, however the bed frame came in very useful for hanging towels, wet clothes etc. I am not sure this was its intended purpose but it sure came in useful. This was one of the more expensive rooms we had in Costa Rica and was not one of the best, however it was fine. The room looked good, but there was a damaged floor which could easily injure someone. I stuffed it with paper to reduce risk of injury, but housecleaning removed this. Big whirlpool bath looked good, but only shower part worked, and there was no shower curtain. We suspect this is where the cockroaches came from as we had a daily visit despite killing the ones that came. We did see cockroaches in one other hotel on our trip and understand this is the tropics, so no problem. Sink was on a kind of ledge which meant washing was more difficult than it should be as you couldn't get your feet close to the base of sink.
Good b&b small hotel. Very well located walking distance to Puerto Viejo downtown where you can find nice restaurants.
They will charge you more if you pay using credit card instead of cash. They only accept Visa.
The bugs in the room
Swimming pool,,food was excellent,location,staff we're friendly
No Mosquito net in room,
Nice rooms, near to the beach, natural environment, friendly people
I wanted to be able to pay with my Debit card (BAC San Jose) that was something that disappointed me a lot because i thought that if a reserved in booking using my debit card certainly I was expecting to pay with it (no cash) once i arrive to the hotel. For me would be great you to include debit cards as a payment method.
The Lotus Garden is across the Stanfords one of the more beautiful beaches in Puerto Viejo, close to restarurants and the main avenue with local markets and the fun in the place. the town is quite small so is hard to be "away" from the important places, but the location is quite good. The staff speak english and spanish and are open to answer most questions, the restaurant is good. We were in the yakuza room, it doesn't have A/C and next to japanese pools that are not well maintained, we didn't see other rooms but yakuza was ok with private bathroom. Overall the hotel was fine, not bad.
Pools outside the room were not well maintained. There are several papers in the room stating that CR is not safe and keep everything in a safe box but our wasn't working, so we didn't understand what's the point with that.
We came at 10pm and reception was closed, There is no wifi at apartment, Jacuzzi didn't work
The only book for two night
Room smelled fungus, and musty ,no place where hunt ours cloth, no outlet where to use my own hair dry and totally uncomfortable
Everything. They were all very helpful and polite. Traveling alone in a foreign country for the first time , it was nice to be treated so well. Like family.
Having to leave.
Noise from the town, this is definitely a party town and if you do not party, you will not get a good nights sleep.
