A little hard to use the hot tub. It gets VERY hot. And was too hot to get in. (I'm sure though that they would have helped us with it if we'd asked, since everyone at this hotel was so helpful.) A bit far from Puerto Viejo, which is a plus and a minus. If you plan to ride your bike into town, you most likely will have to take a taxi back, since the time of year we were there, it got dark early. So plan accordingly. A taxi back, when we were there, was $10. one way. But most of the taxi's in PV now have bike racks which is a great thing over the last time we were there. Be careful too where you eat. I got food poisoning the first night, which take away one whole day of my vacation. (My fault again, though, since it wasn't one of the places the owner mentioned by name.) Note: Prices in PV seem to have really gone up overall since we were there 2 years ago. You feel that restaurants have one menu for tourists and one for locals. . You get better deals on the food eating at the sodas, etc, where the locals eat, and where the prices are posted for everyone. Also noticed more of a drug presence in PV, but nothing that overly concerned us. And where we were staying was completely safe. ..But these are not problems with the Tree House anyway. Just the area in general and things to keep in mind.
We were very close to a nice almost private beach. The hotel had bikes for rent, which was convenient. Nice kitchen. Very helpful and friendly staff. But unless you go to them, they leave you alone so you have your privacy, which was nice. Wonderful and romantic place to stay. It was everything I wanted when looking for a tree house to stay in. The watch dog came by every day to say hello, which was sweet. The circulation of air in the multi-level house always kept things nice and cool. The bedding was comfortable and clean, and the shower built into the tree was alot of fun. There is a also a little grocery store very near to stock the fridge. Happy about that. Great wildlife sightings too right on the property. A group of Howler Monkey's greeted us on arrrival, we saw bats, acoti, sloths, etc. right on the property. You feel you are out in the jungle, but you have restaurants near by, and the beach steps away. I will try to stay here again.
