The best bellhop in the world! He had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the city! All staff (except one) spoke excellent English and were smiley, helpful and friendly. The bed was large and comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The pillows were particularly luxurious! Breakfast was very nice and the restaurant is great. The 'wellness' facilities are an added bonus and it cost us only 30 Euros to privately hire the wellness centre (sauna, wetroom, jacuzzi) for the whole evening on Saturday. It was supremely relaxing! This is a gorgeous, charming hotel that I would stay in every time I come to Prague. Highly recommended!!!
On check in, I paid for the room in Euros, using my VISA. No problem. On checkout (to pay for extras) we were unable to pay with (any) card, either in Euros or local currency, so had to go out and get cash - with the same card. Apparently, there was an issue with their machine - it wouldn't accept any of our 3 (AmEx, VISA, Mastercard) cards in local currency but then the receptionist said she didn't know how to convert to Euros, or that our cards wouldn't let us pay in Czech currency? I'm not quite sure what happened there or what the issue was, to be honest. But my partner was very upset that the lady on reception made him feel like it was his fault. It was just one staff member, but it did put a bit of a dampner on an otherwise amazing stay and wonderful staff.
the bed was very good nice location
breakfast- very bad, not fresh. old smashed eggs and old ham
Very comfortable bed and lovely big soft towels
Breakfast rather poor for a 5star horel
Breakfast was okay, hot food was overcooked but staff were very nice.
Beutyfull bathroom with a nice music and sightseeing for Hradcany Castle
Noisy trams and AC with smell from hotel's kitchen
very close to Kharlov Most bridge
Car parking price 30€/night
Price was ok.
Breakfast was so-so. Showers in the bathroom are terrible!
The view from room to castle and gardens was beautiful. Bed was ok and decoration of room too. Wifi also ok. Not much more.
Poor breakfast but the worst is horrible coffee. No bathtub. Poor staff training although helpful, not very professional and not a 5 star.
The stuff was great and very helpful. The breakfasts were quite reach and included several types of cheese & meat; vegetables and hot dishes. The room decoration is an antique and royal :) In a conclusion, Good value for your money. Very close to the Karl bridge (5min) from the Old City side
The rooms are very small The rooms are very old, so walls have many patches that are noticeable and disturbing. If you take a room that faces the street, ask it to be at least the 3rd floor, so you want stuck with a wall view. Far location from the city center (about 30 minutes walk)
Excellent staff especially in the reception & breakfast area.
Street too dark when walking to the hotel at night.
Excellent Staff. Free and fast WiFi. Perfect position. Room on 5th floor with view of the Royal Palace was worth the modest extra cost.
Didn't stay longer.
Excellent transport service, taxi to hotel. Fantastic brunch. Very kind and helpful staff.
slow service at the reception. time loss at check-out. trams driving under the window
little professional service at the reception. can not issue an invoice. time loss at check-out. small rooms. slow service at the reception
location, friendly staff, quality & service level. I was a bit afraid due to some negative comments I read on booking.com but I can say that everything was really on very good service level. I would recommend that hotel without any doubt and for the next visit in Pague I will choose the same one.
parking in front of the hotel is too expensive comparing to other.
The room was lovely, we had a spectacular view of Prague castle, the palace and palace gardens. The view was even more enchanting in the evening when the castle lights illuminated the scenery.
The breakfast buffet was of poor quality, cold food, poor standard of food and little choice for selection. The bar was closed 2 nights out of our 4 night trip which was inconvenient as we had an elderly relative of poor mobility with us.
great location, tea facilities in the room
staff in the reception is not competent, very small room, on the 3 floor the wall view
Location near stop for tram 22, convenient for going up to the castle & right at the bottom of the hill when you come down.
Everything! It's seen better days, and no amount of paint can cover up the cracks. The rooms are depressing, everything feels slightly seedy & run-down. The staff is not very helpful, giving short curt answers to any queries. The breakfast is a disgrace - over-cooked sausages, chewy ham, hard dry bread and cakes. While we were waiting for a taxi, the cleaning lady and receptionist were having a loud argument, like something out of a bad movie from the seventies!
We live in the Czech Republic but stayed in the Royal palace for a one-night escape from the children. My impressions were very positive. The hotel is furnished and decorated in the style of the turn of the last century – consistent with the building itself, which presumably also dates from that period. We had a garden-facing room which, while not as spacious as others I have seen, was beautifully furnished with very high quality fittings throughout. The high ceilings and ample windows also meant the room was very light and airy. The best thing though was the total peace and quiet. The hotel is in a fairly busy area, but our room was very quiet and peaceful, even with the windows open. The breakfast was tasty and a wide variety to choices were available. The staff were diligent, friendly and helpful. We know Prague well, and this is an excellent location for a first time visitor to Prague. All the main tourist sights are within walking distance, and the river is s stone's throw away.
The staff was fair except for Petra who checked us in and one other staff member. The views from the top floor were spectacular. Castle on one side and river and old town on the other. That was the one saving grace.
The rest of the staff was fair to poor. Some inexperienced and untrained. We had the Presidential Suite which was not a suite at all. It was two separate rooms connected by a hallway. The was no common sitting area. Housekeeping did not take away dirty glasses and cups everyday except for our last day. Which is also the day that facecloths were finally placed in the room. The Bar and kitchen were both closed on our first night. The breakfast was inconsistent one day and omelet station next day none? The final insult was the night I ordered ice-cream to take to the room and after 25 minutes I was told the chef says no ice cream now. This supposed to be a five star hotel! We are staying in the Presidential Suite to use the spa or the exercise facility was an extra charge! Up to 40 Euro per day!
Great location for old town. Hotel is designed in classic chintzy style and appropriate for Prague.
Breakfast is typical Czech breakfast with bell peppers, hot dogs, dry Czech bread, etc but also other stuff make it fine
We has a wonderful stay and found the hotel to be very centrally located. The hotel is neat and well kept. All the staff was very helpful and polite, we especially enjoyed Karel - barman. Our room had a beautiful view and we could not ask for anything more. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.
Staff were nice, rooms were clean
Not so Presidential Suite in the not so Royal Palace. The hotel itself isn’t actually a converted Royal Palace – just on a side street next to the senate and the Presidential suite is just 2 normal top floor rooms with an adjusted corridor between them. The individual rooms still have the room numbers on so I guess they are let out separately when the “Presidential Suite” isn’t bought. We basically booked the “Presidential Suite” as it stated through the hotel’s website that it came with a free transfer from the airport in a Rolls Royce Phantom. As we approached our trip I emailed them to arrange the free transfer and they said that they couldn’t book the car with more than 2 days out, then with less than two days out (coincidentally? now within the cancellation period) they sent me a quote for 300 eur for the transfer (about 20 mins). We went back to the website to show that it should be included for free and they had changed the website to include the fact that you needed to stay for more than 3 days and it wasn’t applicable if booking through 3rd party websites. When I complained to booking.com the hotel said they would do a transfer for 100 eur, then the hotel contacted me and said the transfer for 100 euros wouldn’t be in a Rolls so with all the hassle we didn’t bother – very bad customer services indeed. Breakfast was nothing special – on par with a normal 3 star, rooms were clean but showing age a bit, main curtain fell off when tried to close, net curtains needed a wash and smoking seemed to be allowed as ashtrays were provided. Wall decoration looked like compressed wood shapes stuck to the wall. We stay in hotels all over the world and have paid a lot less for a lot more in far more expensive cities. If you are looking for something special, then I would keep looking as you our visit was nothing like the video on their website.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet.
VERY expensive parking. Rooms are old. Beds need replacing.
The room was quiet and in the morning there was the sound of birdsong not traffic. The breakfast was good, lots to choose from. the staff were attentive
