Great Location. Good breakfast.
Hotel bar - unfriendly bar man - not very welcoming.
Based on this stay the location is great - however there are many other hotels in central Prague so next time we will choose something else.
The daytime receptionist snaps at guests (not just us), she is downright rude and unpleasant. She never smiled and she seemed to make us feel like we were intruders. This coloured our whole stay at the hotel and Prague. The stairs are breakneck - as they are all a different height riser which makes it very difficult to navigate, the stairs are very steep and there is absolutely no help with the luggage - we were on the second floor and it was an issue as my husband pulled a muscle lugging the suitcase up - all around the stay was short and unpleasant and we will not go to this hotel again and never recommend it to friends.
the location was perfect, with a minuet walk to old town. There was nothing to fault with the room. The breakfast included was good, as well as the restaurant food! Staff were very helpful with any questions. Couldn't recommend this hotel more.
wifi wasn't great.
Perfect location in the heart of the old city.
Excellent location, and a useful collection and drop off service at the airport. The room was comfortable and clean. I would probably go back (if they'll have me after this review.)
I was left to drag my heavy luggage up and down two flights of stairs without any assistance; then the wifi didnt work. After complaining at length, it was finally fixed the following morning, although there were "dead zones" in the room, for example the bed area, where wifi didnt reach. Breakfast was adequate but not inspiring. Coffee seemed to be instant dispensed from a machine.
Staff was very welcoming and available, the restaurant downstairs actually serves some tasty traditional Czech food. Try the boar leg or the leg of lamb. Room is comfortable, spacious and bathroom is very nice. Clean hotel and great location - very close to the main square (literally 50 metres) but behind it enough so you don't get the drunken crowds.
I guess I can't really talk too badly about this issue because it is legal to smoke inside everywhere in the Czech Republic, however it was a bit of bother - not necessarily in the reception area/stairs but inside the room itself. I don't know if it was an old smoking room or the smoke was just coming in from under the door, but it was pretty much always present. The opened window however did the trick.
Everything was perfect This hôtel is registered in the UNESCO patrimoine Super lovely room n'5 Staff very kind , discreet and helpfull
Location, staff, food
wifi was very weak, room a bit small but it's an old building so not too much options anyway.
Best location Awesome price Cozy bedroom and great breakfast
No wii fi signal A little bit hard to find ( the sign is not visible at night)
- atmosphere - clean
I love the decor and how Central the hotel is. This is a really beautiful hotel!
The wifi was poor. It's quite noisy at night too.
Location is perfect - right by Tyn church. V helpful staff, arranging taxi collection/drop off at airport and good communication prior to arrival. Breakfast basic but does the job
If forgotten you can still smoke everywhere in Prague so hotel had faint whiff of smoke but that's not really their fault
The bathroom was not as clean as it could have been, the central heating was not working properly, which made the corner room quite cold.
Lot of stairs but since it's a traditional hotel it's very understandable:) Poor lights but it's very common everywhere in Prague
Location was fantastic. The hotel was simple but comfortable and had everything you need.
Some of the staff were not very friendly. For a small hotel you would expect a personal touch. That was missing.
Excellent location! Nice room with period features. Friendly and helpful staff! Very cosy little hotel!
Only a few yards from the main square. The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and very good and the breakfasts were amazing.
The stairs were very steep but this is inevitable in a 14th century building! I guess installing a lift will require a lot of surveys and involve a lot of planning regulations. The lighting in the room was exceptionally low - hard to read, even with every light on! Some of the reception staff and one breakfast waitress were quite surly and reluctant to help, but they were all very efficient.
This was our first visit to Prague, our son had stayed at Cerny Slon several years ago and had recommended it to us,we were not dissapointed, nice friendly staff, wonderful room with fantastic wooden beams, nice breakfast.cant wait to stay again when we visit this spectacular city.
Fantastic location just walking distance to Prague Old Town Square, fascinating historical building dating from 13th Century, spotlessly clean, delicious food, friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Just a couple of points to beware, hotel location is difficult to find especially by car so plan route well before you go. Also our room was on the second floor and although we are fairly fit we found the stairs a struggle!
The hotel is located in a charming old house. A perfect location among spectacular historical surroundings. In spite of the location, the room was surprisingly quiet. The restaurant is very cozy and offers a good selection of wines. If you have a sweet tooth like me, try the cute small Czech pastry that they serve for breakfast - it's delicious!
Great Hotel. Strongly recommend. Excellent breakfast. Excellent service.
Dinner quality was average.
The location of this hotel was great - right in the middle of Old Town Prague. The staff was wonderful and the room had all the amenities one could ask for.
The only thing I can think of that could be better is having an elevator installed. It was quite cumbersome having to drag my suitcase up the stairs to the 2nd floor.
Great location & staff were extremely helpful. With tours & advice.
No lift, need to carry luggage up the stairs. Not a problem for us as we travel light, but something to consider if you have a lot of luggage.
location is excellent, staff helpful, breakfasts good
when hotels say they will only change towels if left on floor they should stick to that rule
Staff, location, food (onsite dining room with breakfast buffet included, dinner there was wonderful), towel warmer and large bathroom
wi-fi spotty, room facing street noisy at 2 am, double bed separate mattresses
