The name of the hotel stands for its history. The hotel had long been the first address in town, known as Hotel Schluechtern, which was established in the place where the former department store Langer was located. It had accommodated many personalities, travelling on the Frankfurt-Leipzig route. The recently established, new Hotel Stadt Schluechtern offers 60 beds in comfortable guest rooms in contemporary design. General standard equipment includes telephone, TV, fax connection and one wheelchair accessible room.

Nicht zu vergessen, dass umfangreiche Frühstücksbüffet. Ein etwas grösserer Fernseher waere schön, wenn man alleine reist und es mal regnet. Eine Minibar gibt es leider nicht. Das Hotel ist Teil eines Gebäudes, das z.T. ein Wohnhaus ist, mit einem gemeinsam genutzten Treppenhaus und entspricht nicht dem üblichen Hotelcharakter.
