We wanted to visit Neuschwanstein, but did not want to do a day trip, since it takes a long time to get there. Alpenstuben was the perfect place for that! We took the bus from the Füssen train station (very frequent) and the morning of our departure took a 10 euro cab. The hotel is right in the heart of the Hohenshwangau village and we had easy access to both castles and the lake. Alpenstuben's restaurant was good and opened later than all the other hotels in the area. Breakfast was generous and good !

Breakfast has limited selection. Dinner was not so tastely. There is no lift for luggage.

You have to take an internet password which is valid for only 1 davice and only for 24 hours which is inconvinient. Also I didn't find any non-German channels on TV.

The hotel was quaint with typically Bavarian decor all in good condition and clean. We had a view of the castle from our room and as it was lit up at night it was quite beautiful. The location is excellent- right next door to the ticket office and where the horse carriages leave as well as easy 5 min walk to the museum. There was on site parking a well stocked souvenir shop and the restaurant was very good. There are a few other restaurants within 5 min walk as well. It was mid winter when we were there so lots of snow but the castle English tour was still very busy.

The castle had to be viewed with a tour guide however we had about 40 people in the tour group and a guide who had a very quiet timid voice. Trying to get everyone into and out of tiny rooms took a lot of time and you couldn't really see the full decor of each area unless you waited until the bulk of the group had moved out again. Smaller group sizes would have moved through each area more efficiently ...maybe because it was winter they had less staff at the castle? The access to the viewing area at the bridge was also closed due to construction so that was disappointing and the bus which runs to the same area wasn't operating due to heavy snowfalls. The fairy tale image of the castle in snow though was magical.

Bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Bed was very stiff, pillows way too soft.

Excellent location right by the castles of the Bavarian Kings. Exceptionally friendly and polite personnel.

This hotel is perfectly located! The room had a breathtaking view of the castle and had a log cabin feel to it. The restaurant has a wide variety of Bavarian meals. The Brauhaus close by is also reachable by taxi in 5 minutes. Highly recommended.

Stayed at their Annnex - Hotel Ludwig, first guests to stay there, different quality, secure parking, designer decor.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was great and the setup of the family room was good for us with 3 separate beds. The staff acquired castle tickets for us and had had them at breakfast the day we were to attend.
