This hotel is the best we have ever stayed at. The two owners could not have been more lovely, nothing was too much trouble, beyond hospitable and generous. The hotel is gorgeous, spacious and the location is perfect. We will definitely be back to hamburg and would never imagine staying anywhere else :-)
We didn't want to leave!
Staff really helpful and friendly. Breakfast very good and ample for the price. Location, a block away from the main station, so easy to get around the city. Hotel breakfast room well decorated. Bedroom had fresh bottle of water every day, Xmas decoration and biscuits on arrival.Would certainly go again.
If I had to be picky - I would have preferred a shower to the bath we had.
Location and friendliness of the staff
This hotel felt like a traditional German guesthouse. It's in a great location close to the main station but situated in a quiet side street. The staff were all excellent and welcoming, particularly Wolfgang who served the lovely breakfast. We really couldn't fault this wonderful hotel.
The hotel had a very warm and pleasant feel, the staff were lovely and helpful, also offering advice on travelling around Hamburg. Ideally situated for the tour bus, train and subway.
very close to the railway station, but not noisy. It's more like a family hotel.
We're directly driven out. That's the first time among our many trips. Although we're late a little bit to check out, but our bags were directly packed and taken out of the room by others is not acceptable. I will not choose this hotel any more.
Almost everything - staff, room, bed, breakfast, location, security.
Unfortunately, the Hotel has no elevator. Certainly, we were offered a lower floor room when we arrived, but declined in favour of a nicer room at the top. We were then given a lot of help with luggage up - and back on check-out, so it was not really a problem, just a little annoyance.
Staff were very friendly, very helpful, over and above what they were obligated to do. Made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was good. Location 2 minutes' walk from main transport hubs - trains, buses, subway.
The breakfasts were excellent and served with great enthusiasm by our most genial host. He set us up for the day. Its location was close to the railway station and excellent restaurants. The hotel exuded charm.
The absence of a lift made access to our room somewhat difficult.
- location - clean - relatively quiet - comfortable - friendly lady at the front desk
not something that I dont like, but a point to be awared of. There is no lift in the hotel, so for someone with heavy luggage you might want to request for room at lower level.
Although not modern in décor the hotel has a charm of it's own and feels like a place in the country from its comfortable rooms to cosy décor and the breakfast area feels like you are about to embark on a mountain trek rather than walk around a bustling city. The staff are all extremely friendly and nothing seems too much bother for them.
Area can be a bit noisy at night but any hotel in that area suffers from the same issue.
It is a traditional hotel with an attractive interior. The staff are very friendly. It is very clean.
I am quite fit but there is no elevator for older guests and I was on the third floor of a steep stairs. Not great to be honest. The location of this hotel in terms of the price is not great. On the street I was propositioned by a prostitute and there were evidence around the area that there were people loitering and soliciting. I completely understand that this is not eh fault of the hotel but the price of €140 without breakfast...too much. Lastly, the bathrooms need to be upgraded. I had to stand in a shower / Bath and hold the shower head to wash myself. This is Germany in the 21st century. It should be upgraded with these rates.
The hotel has a bit of character and family run charm. Breakfast was good, great location and good nights sleep. It is catering for non business people but for me it made a refreshing change.
The "old fashion" german atmosphere
Lack of a refrigerator in room.
The staff, could not have been more helpful and friendly. Breakfast as really enjoyable. It was nice to sit down to breakfast and be served for a change instead of lining up for warm food that was cooked hours ago. Food was lovely & fresh. We had a lovely spacious room and bathroom.
We were on the 4th floor with no lift, we didn't mind but some might. No air-con but the windows all opened 2 ways. There wasn't anything I would say I didn't like anything as the good outweighed the others.
Great customer service, very friendly welcome. Clean and tidy room.
A very friendly and homely place, decorated in the Franconian style, with very pleasant staff. I arrived very late at 11 PM, when the reception was already closed. The personnel was very kind and provided me with the details beforehand, how to get into the closed hotel. In the morning i was called from the reception and invited for the breakfast. It was already late and the kitchen had to be closed. So the receptionist took care, if i came. 2 minutes from the bus and railway station, quiet street.
Felt safe and comfortable and at ease, great breakfast . Able to store luggage on arrival and departure. Would recommend to my family
Breakfast, staff friendliness, near train station, room was adequate.
Sex shops and bums hanging around the corner. Price was expensive as we Checked the George Hotel and almost moved there because it was less for the one night. This hotel seems overpriced.
Good value for money (for Hamburg) and proximity to Hamburg station. Very friendly welcome with tips on what to do and where to go.
WiFi didn't work at all at first, and was slow when it eventually did. Would have appreciated a second key: unless you go back together, it means making a phone call to be let in when reception isn't manned and the main door is locked.
The staff ..superb Breakfast was awesome Love the old fashioned style So helpful ..couldn't do enough for you was really lovely Close to train Close to restaurants etc
Not their fault as in these older hotels but no lift
The lovely ladies who look after this little cosy hotel made this stay for us! Helpful and friendly, and the breakfasts are plentiful and delicious! Very good value for money!
The location is excellent so very close to the train station, but being so close to the station there are traces of a "grubby" element in the surrounding streets? For us, the convenience of the station outweighed the grubby element :)
Lovely staff, very helpful, and the location was great.
Carrying our heavy suitcases up four flights of stairs was a downer, as there is no lift. But the lady owner was very apologetic!
Welcome, decoration, breakfast
No lift and especially no air conditionned
Love this kind of cosy, little hotels. Felt like home!
The bed / mattress was really squeaky and the shower needs at least a pair of curtain. The floor got so wet...
