Dating from 1879, this traditional, family-run hotel offers cosy accommodation and excellent food in the UNESCO-listed, picturesque village of Filsen on the banks of the River Rhine. The bedrooms of the Altes Tor hotel are tastefully equipped, and some even boast their own balcony or loggia. Bathrooms are en-suite with a shower and WC. Between Tuesday and Sunday, you can enjoy a wide range of delights in the hotel restaurant, which includes excellent sausages and other meat dishes supplied by the in-house butcher’s. A self-service beer garden is available in the summer. The Altes Tor is situated at the beginning of the Rheinsteig hiking trail, beside the largest bend of the River Rhine. Maps for hikers and motorcyclists are available from reception. A ferry runs to Boppard on the opposite bank. Lahnstein and Loreley are just 15 km away. Rauhallinen ja "perinteikkään" oloinen majapaikka. Huoneeni oli pieni ja pelkistetty, mutta siisti. Henkilökunta erittäin ystävällistä ja auttavaista. Aamiainen erittäin hyvä. Filsen on joen toisella puolella olevaa Boppardia todella paljon rauhallisempi kylä ja siksi hyvä vaihtoehto yöpymiselle.

Very informal so easy to relax there, which is what we wanted after a long hot journey in a very old car. The private parking for the car was important for us.

Es war alles sehr sauber das Personal war freundlich Kein Fenster und keine Heizmöglichkeit im Bad ( nicht mal ein Heizstrahler), es gab keine Nachttischlampe, Die Einrichtung war sehr altbacken... Das Frühstück fand ich persönlich fürchterlich, nix frisches dabei nur Dosenobst, aber ich bin auch verwöhnt ....

Een leuk, gezellig hotel in het stadje Filsen, met zeer betrokken en vriendelijke eigenaar en personeel. Maaltijden zijn zeer goed en worden met grote zorg klaargemaakt. Mooi uitgangspunt voor een wandeling langs de Rijn. Hotel zonder lift, dus met veel zware bagage is het een hele klim naar de 3e etage. Regelmatig is het geluid van langsrijdende treinen te horen, maar niet echt storend.
