Altstadt Hotel zur Post Stralsund

Location is excellent, right in the new market square, within old city center. Also a 5-10 min walk from railway station. Room was clean, nice and comfortable.

Small details improper of a 4-star: no toiletries in the bathroom (just soap/shampoo in the shower), curtains were so worn at some places that you could see through...

We are Americans living in Germany and we travel a lot. Location was good for walking and eating at a variety of restaurants. The room & bath were very comforable with lots of room.

Parking was terrible and we were told the garage @ 8.00 Euro per day was already full, Breakfast was 9.00 Euro per person--too expensive for cold meat and a brochen.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is nicely renovated, the rooms are spacious, and Stralsund appears to be 90%+ renovated since the German reunification and it makes a truly charming vacation destination. It's a fascinating place - and the local history museum should be visted to better understand the location. In addition to enjoying Stralsund we used this hotel as a taking off point for day trips to Rugen and Wismar, which worked well and surely saved on high season costs. It was also very convenient to have the parking garage directly under the hotel and we never had a problem finding a spot there, no matter when we returned (it did take some twisting and turning and guesswork in this intricate cobblestone town to find the entrance to the garage the first time though!). I would love to return to the hotel someday for another Stralsund getaway. It and Stralsund were a treat!

We did not pay for the breakfast because for 4 people at 12 euros each (summer 2009), it was simply too expensive. We could walk to a nearby bakery and feed 4 for the price of 1-2 people. This hotel isn't alone in charging that much though. Unfortunately most of the German hotels we stayed at no longer include breakfast as part of the room charge, and the price for breakfast rivals approaches that of a nice dinner at a local restaurant. Another small thing which truly did not bother us but others should be aware is that the hotel has an inner courtyard and one of our rooms opened to it. The kitchen and dishwashing area also open to it and due the summer warmth, the doors stood open and the clanking of dishes and sounds of early morning diners was a bit loud. We were a bit jet-lagged having come from the USA so we tended to sleep a bit late, and we could hear it but were able to sleep through it. Also, the local church bells ring every 15 minutes all day and night, but again, it didn't bother us. It all adds to the charm, I suppose!

For the low price it was an excellent opportunity.

Price was los, except for the breakfast, which we did not take at the hotel, but in a bery agreable coffee house close by.

The accommodation was superb - probably the best I have stayed in in Europe and on a par with the best in North America and the Far East. There was a "garage party" in the basement of the hotel on one night that we were there, but there was absolutely no noise penetrating into our room.

There are better restaurants in Stralsund than the one in the hotel, although it was still good.

Det bästa med hotellet var läget mitt i gamla Stralsund och möjlighet att ha bilen i garage under hotellet, frukostbuffén var också helt ok.

Die Buchung über booking.com war einfach und gut. Das Hotel liegt mitten in der Stadt. Es hat ein Parkhaus, man kann das Auto einfach stehen lassen. Besonders gut hat uns das reichliche Abendbuffet für nur 7,50 € p.P. gefallen. Die Servicekräfte sind sehr freundlich.

Ich denke, dass der Restaurantbereich für abends etwas klein bemessen ist. Am Wochenende war das Hotel voll und man musste eine halbe Stunde auf einen Platz warten. Vielleicht kann man die Kapazität wie beim Frühstück erweitern (zumindest für das Buffet)?

Wir waren angenehm überrascht und können dieses Hotel sehr gerne weiterempfehlen. Auch wir werden dieses Hotel in unsere Liste aufnehmen.

Ett alldeles utmärkt hotell med alla historiska och intressanta platser i Altstadt inom ett gångavstånd på 350 meter. Bra parkering.

Vissa kvällar i månaden (2-3) ordnas garageparty i hotellets garagekällare vilket kan vara störande hela natten Kolla så att inga sådana finns just den tid du bor där
