Hotel Lipmann "Am Klosterberg"  

Great hotel! Although, I thought we were getting a room in the sister hotel right on the water front - so that was a dissapointment. This hotel is very nice and just a short walk away in a great little town, but more modern with less of the charm I was looking for in a historic town.

Cordial service and excellent location... a great dinning experience.

Delightful small Moselle village without the crowds of Cochin, whole village full of character, Excellent terraced restaurant at the 400 year old Altes Zollhaus over looking the sunset on the Moselle. It was linked to our discret modern residence higher up in the village at the Kosterberg.Interesting family unit with good English.Whole experience spoke "Quality". We thought our stay there was the highlight of a slow drive down from the Hook ogf Holland to Bordeaux.

Reluctant to take our credit cards to settle our bill, preferred cash but not a show stopper. Authorisation pin code Machine available but tucked out of sight! No trace of Booking .com reservation on their computer when we arrived which caused us some initial anxiety. Proprietor of hotel said that they advertised on Booking dot com that they did not take credit cards. We would not have stayed if that was prominent on the site which in reterospect would have been a shame!.

We stayed at the 'Altes Zollhaus', which is effectively on the River Mosel. We had a very comfortable room, with a river view. It is a small, friendly hotel - part of a family-owned group in the village; English was spoken by all the staff we had contact with. The hotel is well run, and provides everything one needs and expects from a small hotel. The staff are vey helpful and hard-working. The hotel has a restaurant which is open most evenings; when it is not open, there are alternatives. We dined on the terrace, overlooking the river. The food was good, and we enjoyed the local wines. We had a very enjoyable 5-day stay, and the hotel provides an excellent base to explore the Mosel region. Thank you.

There was nothing we did not like, but a word of warning: the hotel (and - it seems - most of the village), do not accept credit cards, and only limited debit cards. We had to pay in cash, so do not get caught out!

The last morning, we were told by the managers of the Zollhaus that theywould not be there, so we had to walk, in the rain, to get our breakfast and pay for our stay at the Zollhaus at one of the "sister" Lipmann hotels. A very strange and inconvenient turn of events.

Very cosy attic room overlooking the Moselle. The evening meal at their adjacent restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast served next morning in the hotel.

Difficulty on arrival to establish where to check in as the Am Althaus was locked and no instructions where to go but this is only a minor criticism.
