Score from 330 reviews Very good
location is great; rooms were comfortable; bathroom was very nice; breakfast was good and staff at breakfast very friendly
staff at check in not so friendly
Breafast was excellent. Great recently renovated restaurant downstairs. Nice central location.
Very tired linen and towels in need of replacement. No light in stairwell which makes coming back late at night treacherous. Arriving late can be a problem as the checkin times are very strict.
The apartment we stayed in was spacious and in a great location in a very cute town.
The staff was not very friendly or welcoming. Breakfast was fine but kept running out of items and refilling was slow. Lots of steps to our room so that was a pain and the entire town shuts down at 8 pm! so if you get back late and want to eat, good luck! Nothing is open.
- lovely hotel - friendly staff - full service
Great location Very clean Parking Staff were efficient
Tight on space for a family of four Staff could be friendlier
Lovely setting in middle of picturesque village. Great buffet breakfast. Large bedroom with modern en suite facilities. Good storage for bikes in lockup garage round corner from hotel.
The guy in reception was ok but seemed shy and think his English may have been limited - certainly not a great conversationalist in English. However he helped me with bikes; I was expecting worse from other reviews.
Traditional decor and homely feel. Owners were friendly and made us feel comfortable. Great selection at breakfast. Our rooms were on the 4th floor and the views were spectacular.
Nothing. The only consideration for people thinking of booking would be that there is no lift and the stairs are harsh but this is not a complaint as the hotel makes this quite clear on the website. We thought it would keep us fit and the views are definitely worth it.
Clean and tidy with lovely staff in a lovely location. Town was a touch on the quiet side in June.
Location was excellent. Town was quaint.
The hotel does not have an elevator so for some this may be an issue.
We were promised a 2 bedroom apartment, and we received one. The bathroom was modern and clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
The daily rate on the internet said that breakfast was included. When we checked out we were charged extra for breakfast - even though our grandchildren didn't even eat one morning. The apartment had a kitchen, but a sign said that usage of the kitchen would cost an extra 40 Euros.
The hotel has a great location, the room is very comfortable and spacious.
The breakfast could be a little bit richer and the staff could be a little more friendly.
Very good size room which was comfortable & perfectly located in the centre of a quiet small town; ideal as a base for exploring this area of the Rhine.
Good property with a very good location. Staff seemed a little indifferent.
Central position, nice room and attractive building, we'll restored. Use of garage for overnight parking.
Reception on arrival a bit unwelcoming. Breakfast a bit average. No British TV programmes.
Great mulit national TV channel seclection.
The room was clean and cheery. The restaurant offers delicious, fresh sophisticated cuisine at affordable prices. The chef-owner and his wife were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome.
Bacharach is one of the most attractive small towns on the Rhine and the hotel is right in the middle. The hotel is very well decorated and comfortable. Public parking very close
The location was excellent - directly across the square from the Altes Haus in Bacharach and a two minute walk to board the Rhine River cruise boats. The bathrooms were very modern and spacious. The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast that was extensive and very delicious.
The room felt clean and comfortable and cozy. Not like a sterile hotel. The breakfast was just okay.
Well located. Good value for money. Comfortable & clean. Staff and owners were very helpful
No lift so had to carry our heavy luggage up 4 flights of stairs!
Location was awesome! Highly recommend the hotel for this fact alone. Breakfast was pretty good as well.
Beds not very comfortable, staff not the friendliness (but ok)
Location of the hotel and a decent breakfast
We stayed 3 nights at Hotel am Markt. Positives: Bacharach is a lovely town. Probably one of the best option in the region. It's located pretty much in the middle so it's a great opportunity to visit all the sites and towns more north or south. The hotel in itself is very nice looking, outside and inside. The room we stayed in was spacious, with a nice bathroom. The hotel is very clean.
Negatives: Everything else. The noise in the hotel is constant and very disturbing. You can hear everything in the other rooms: people talking, the water running, the doors opening/closing, people walking etc. The sound of the water running in other rooms is very loud as if it was running right next to you. The sound of the bathroom ventilation is so loud as well. When we arrived we got "greeted" by (I think) the owner of the place without any warmness or friendliness, or even a smile. Not very helpful either. Breakfast is extremely limited, every day is the same and the staff was never smiling and didn't seem friendly. For people working in the tourism industry you wonder what the heck is going on with them. It's almost as if you're disturbing them. We got a twin bed instead of a double bed, with 2 very small covers instead of 1 big one. Not the best option for a romantic weekend... Unless you decide to sleep together in 1 bed of 90 cm. Wifi does not work. There is a connection but you have to be almost standing in the corridor in order to load a page. It's a shame because it could be a great place but they have a lot of work to do in order to get even close to "good". I would not stay there again. Every other place we went to, staffs were so friendly and helpful.
