Best Western Hotel am Spittelmarkt  

It's so close to the Dresdain station, and it's easy to find the hotel. Shampoo, Towel, hair dryer are included, but there's no toothbrush. But you can buy one at the front desk.

A safe quiet location near to the underground but also easy to walk to some main sites.

Not near to many restaurants so forced to travel for food in the evening.

Location and price

No free breakfast.

Extremely clean and well equipped rooms. Having wifi in foyer only was a drawback and an inconvenience. If more than one or two were trying to use it it failed. Internet in rooms but was no use to me as I, and a lot of other people, carry tablets or I pads. Location was fairly good. We walked everywhere from there although as were were tourists ended up catching cabs home. Cabs however extremely cheap in Berlin. Breakfast supplied was good, but in horrible rooms underground. We only had breakfast there twice as there were a few places directly across the road we went to.

Room was very clean and our bathroom was large. Our friends however said their bathroom was tiny. Not sure how this happens as we both paid the same rate.

Clean room, nice breakfast (9 euros). And that's all.

If you like sauna, this is the place to be. Their air conditioning is programmed "hot as hell" and believe me there's nothing you can do about it, even in your own room. When I complained, they told me to sleep with my windows opened. And that's what I had to do. I was woken up every morning with a raven's noise! Wi-fi internet? Doesn't exist!!! There's a cable in your room and computers on the lobby, that's all. *If you are going to Berlin for the first time, an advice: stay at Potsdamer Platz, it's walking distance to almost everywhere.

I took a party of 21 people for the Berlin 25 Kilometre Road Race, all who had never been to Berlin before. Every single person thought that the hotel was excellent and ticked all the boxes on question 2 above. Although not initially booking breakfast we all had one every day and found them to be extremely good. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and asked us if we had had breakfast when checking out. I found this attitude of trust to be extremely refreshing. The facilities and cleanliness were first class. 10 out of 10.

The receptionists speak english, the hotel is clean and looks new, rooms are pretty big. The location is valuable (subway at 3 minutes, then 5 minutes from Alexanderplatz) and prices are correct.

It was too hot in the hotel, could not turn on air conditioning, Internet is provided by a very very little cable (no wifi) and there was only 1 french tv channel that nobody cares about (tv5 Monde).

Hotel is in walking distance to main Berlin tourist attractions, but it's also far enough to avoid problems with parking or nightlife noise (no cafes, no pubs etc.). Buildings are brand new, room design very simple, but elegant (leather chairs, wooden furniture). No disturbance from other rooms, good soundproofing - they could've been empty, but considering crowd on breakfast that was not the case. Breakfast buffet offered very wide range of products. Staff generally very friendly and helpful. All in all, one of the best hotels in its category - obviously not as luxurious as 5-star monsters, but worth considering.

Bed was far too soft - but that's personal preference. No wireless Internet in the room - that's becoming a standard of sorts in hotels all over the world - and Best Western should also provide that option. Other than that there's little to complain.

Excellent location, 10 minutes walk from the centre or right next to metro stop. Large, clean and comfortable rooms and large bathroom. Wonderful breakfast selection which is more than worth the money.

We were very pleased vith the hotel at all.

The room was noisy due to building work in the street opposite.

The location is ideal, around the corner from a central U-bahn station and buses, and the room was very clean, which is very important to me, and free internet access (via ethernet cable). It felt like a well-run establishment. Also, there are 24-hour internet stations and printers in the lobby that was extremely helpful, when it was working...

I don't like that breakfast wasn't included, and cost an additional 9 euro if you partook. Some of the staff seemed a bit lazy - I had certain requests (I.E. the internet isn't working, can you check on that, can you tell me about the flea-markets, how does storing the luggage work, etc.) and the staff I encountered didn't seem too enthused to help. They did end up helping me, but it felt like I was imposing on their time. Also, I wish there was wifi in the rooms vs only a short ethernet cable that kept you tied to the desk area.
