The location is excellent, in a traffic-free square and in the centre of the old town. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel itself is a beautiful building. If I was going to Munich again I would definitely stay at this hotel. There really wasn't anything wrong with this hotel, it was ideal. If I was going to be really picky, most German hotels include breakfast and this one didn'T. But there are plenty of places you can get a nice breakfast nearby. Maybe if you don't like the sound of people drinking and talking at night it might be a problem for you as the hotel is in the middle of a pedestrian square near lots of bars. But personally I think this is an advantage! I would rather hear the sound of people having fun than horrible traffic noise.

Older Hotel in the heart of the city. Walking distance to many attractions. It was noisy from people on the street having a good time.

the hotel is just adjacent to Viktualienmarkt which is a food market with lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese and hams. You can also get food and drinks at the markets, sit at the bench and enjoy the day. it is very easy to walk anywhere in the city. The staff is extremely helpful. I didnt bring the suitable iphone charger with me and they just gave me one to charge myself. The breakfast is limited but very tasty. you have to pay 9 euros for it. There are couple of churches around and when they start ringing bells, it takes forever. They sometimes start around 7am in the morning so i didnt get enough sleep.

Excellent position 100 m from MarienPlatz, free broadband WiFi in the rooms, acceptable daily rate (considering Munich rates in the center...)

The location is perfect. The room is not big, as the hotel is in the old building. My son and I stayed for 6 nights. We had breakfast twice. For breasfast you can have different kinds of sausages, cheese, cereals, boiled eggs, fresh friuts, as for drinks - orange juice, water, milk, tea, coffee (cappuccino, espressoo, etc). It's good that there is free Wi Fi in the rooms. The famous Hofbrauhaus and Paulaner in Tal are located very close, just several minutes walk. Maybe it will be too noisy for a family with small children as the bell always rings at 7 o'clock am. But for me it adds a certain charm.

We traveled to Munich to meet our daughter for stay at the Hotel Am Markt. The location was perfect in the centre of the city and a short walk to the subway. The market just steps from the hotel was perfect for fresh food and the many restaurants and beer houses made for the perfect Munich vacation. The staff at the hotel were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. We would return to this location again in the future.

The location was excellent! You really could not ask for better, the room was clean, and the beds comfortable (not always the case in European hotels where they seem to prefer beds as hard as slabs of marble). The room was small, but it had everything we needed. While the location is fantastic, it comes with a price. The noise at night is a bit of an issue. There are a number of restaurants and bars in the alleys and side streets around the hotel and this means that things do not really quiet down until very late.

The position was good in relation to the main attractions of Munich and plenty of restaurants close by which was important as it was extremely cold . The rooms were quite small and only adequate for a couple of nights stay and the whole hotel was poorly heated for a winter operation .The breakfast was limited to a continental and no hot food for cold conditions . Saturday night was difficult to sleep as revellers within the hotel were still partying until just before 6am .

The location was excellent in the Viktuleinmarkt area and the food stalls and just a few minutes from the Marienplatz. The room was adequate and beds very comfortable. A little noisy during the night from noise filtering up from the alleyway. However it was Christmas Markets time and to be expected. We dined often at the restaurant section and found the food good and the staff very helpful in translating the german menu for us. We even found the 'skinny' lift quite fun. Inspite of our problem with the hotel manager, I would stay here again as it has so much atmosphere and 'old-worldly' charm. We found the reception and breakfast staff were sadly lacking in customer service skills.and anticipating peoples needs. We also took the breakfast for three days and found it perfectly adequate for us at 5 euro each as stated in our print out from Booking.com. However, when we went to book out one evening (we had an early departure) the youing man on reception wanted to charge us 9euro each and said this had been the price for 2years. I showed him the printout and he rang the manager who was at home. I found the manager's attitude extremely hostile and aggressive. I pointed out this was a problem between him and Booking.com but he did not want to accept this and as I was a user of his hotel I should abide by his charges. But no-one had told us the price of the breakfast anyway, so we were unaware. In the end he did allow us the 5 euro each with bad grace but I found the episode upsetting and a disappointing end to what was a perfect Christmas Market sojourn.

Typical Munich city center architecture, small pleasant lobby with a steep climb up the stairs to small but adequately appointed rooms. Perfect for single leisure travelers just passing through. Location next to market and two blocks from Marenplatz is hard to beat. Staff all said hello and room was tidy and clean.
