Known as the "Jewel Box", Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city center.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.
Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Also not to be missed is Brühl Terrace, a promenade nicknamed the "Balcony of Europe", for its excellent view of the River Elbe.
Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cozy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.
Dresden Airport is the international airport located in the district of Klotzsche, featuring a railway station in the terminal building. Take the train and head to your Booking.com hotel, guesthouse or apartment.

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc.
But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum)
There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

Although I have travelled to other parts of Germany, I had never seen Dresden. It is a remarkable city! I parked at the underground garage at the Frauenkirche, which was centrally located to many of the points of interest. I visited the Fuerstenzug, which is the Procession of Princes, created on tiles. So impressive! I toured the Palace. Make sure you get the complete ticket that takes you through the Green Vault. Amazing jewelry and priceless artifacts. Walking around, it's architectural overload! Also, don't miss going into Camondas Chocolate Store!

You can never get enough of Dresden.
You can never get enough of Dresden. No matter what is the reason of your visit - there is always something that will make you return. For the obvious - Old Town, Frauenkirche, Zwinger, SemperOper…. but crossing the bridge you can explore totally different town. Try to check Pfunds Molkerei to taste local cheese… Or take a ride on the steamboat - either to visit Meissen or Pilnitz castle… and so much more.

In Albertinum museum at entry doors there were no signs where to head to get to the tickets purchasing area, and there was one guy keeping eye on everybody entering the museum giving directions where to go, unfortunately I already climbed leading to him stairs and my fall was long, painful, and bloody. I am sure I was not the first and most likely not the last one keeping close contact with Albertinum floor. Placing just sign explaining the direction would prevent serious injury to other art lovers.

The city centre is gorgeous.
The city centre is gorgeous. At Christmas time, the city is especially beautiful; there are lots of nice Christmas markets around (Striezelmarkt and Neumarkt are the oldest and most famous) that provide local handmade gifts and souvenirs. Don't miss the "Dresdner Stollen," their outstanding traditional Christmas dessert!
The Old Masters Gallery is definitely worth visiting.

Excellent city and architectures.
Excellent city and architectures. We loved it very much. car parking in the city center parkings are too costly but you get Contipark Tiefgarage Semperoper in Dresden charges only 6euros per day just few meters extra walking.
Central location right between Frauenkirche and Elbe - just step out of the hotel and you're right in Dresden Old Town. The room was larger than my own apartment, consisting of a bedroom, bath and living room and furnished with all amenities I didn't need during my stay including a kitchen and a washing machine. Granted, the furniture was a bit dated and the hallways and rooms pretty plain and impersonal - but still, this is pretty good value especially considering the location. Would definitely consider coming here again!
This is a strange one , I’m pretty sure for most of the week I was the only guest .
It is located next to a road and in easy walking distance to the train station .
It is close to the airport and it is best to jump on the train at the airport and walk 200m rather than get a taxi
I had a nightmare journey due to weather conditions and got to the hotel past midnight and I cannot speak highly enough of the proprietor for keeping reception open for me .
There is a car park behind the building which is handy .
Great, big apartment. Very nice location, near the forest, on the hills near Dresden. Great view over the city from outside the building. Quiet area, very accessible and comfy underground parking. It was February, so heating was important and it was very, very good. Quality of sleeping was as expected. All the amenities are next to luxurious and you feel great. A little outside the city, but ok overall, you get used to it after two days. The best accommodation for me in Germany so far.
This is so far the best hotel we have stayed in Dresden. Nice to treat yourself for a special event. If you’re lucky or have some extra budget - get the room with the view of Frauenkirche and the square. It is good spot to just seat and do some people-watching. For cold and rainy days there is sauna on the upper floor… as well as fancy Moritz restaurant. Perfect location for Old Town sightseeing or Opera visit. Very comfortable beds and pillows… and pleasant quiet so you can relax.
First time in Dresden and I am glad I chose this hotel. The location is perfect as it is close to the center and we had an advent market 200m from the hotel. Rooms were nice and clean. We were with a baby and they provided a crib free of charge. The hotel does not have their own parking but we parked right in front of the doors on public parking. It costed 6€ per 24h. I have my hotel for Dresden :)
This is an excellent hostel close to the old town/city centre. Easy check-in at the café next-door.
The rooms are large and in a very good shape. Different rooms have different decor.
A very nice kitchen with a large table. Large and fresh shower rooms.
Tram stop outside the door and S-bahnstation within 5 min walk.
I recommend this hostel to everyone planning to visit Dresden.
I'm impressed with the hotel and the quality of the service. The hotel is located in the city center with a few minutes to all interesting places, restaurants and shops. The family apartment is spacious and equipped with the highest level. The breakfast is delicious. The staff is very attentive. Realy the best place to stay in Dresden!
A funky hotel with friendly staff. A decent location for the price, about a 10 minute walk from the outskirts of the old town and a little longer (in the opposite direction) to the new town. An easy walk from Dresden Mitte train station. The room was comfortable and private.
Great location just outside the Old Town in Dresden. This was our second time staying in this hotel. We had a suite and it’s a huge room with lots of space for three people! Our room had a small refrigerator which was extra nice for our stay.
The lication is fantastic, right in the center of old town. Walking distance from all sightseeing.
The hotel is great for a family or a couple staying.
The rooms are modern , the wifi is good and the breakfast is delicious.
This is a really good budget hotel located at the city centre of Dresden. The location is perfect, close to everything you need ranging from shopping centre, groceries, restaurants and tourist attractions.
The place is located in the very center of Dresden old town, which made it very convenient to visit museums, the Christmas market and the river. Overall we are very happy that we chose this accomodation.
The hotel is right on the center of Dresden, surrounded by main sightseeings. A lot of restaurants, bars and cafes are just 2-3 minutes of walk. We liked the rooftop area.
The staff at reception were very welcoming and very helpful with great advice for seeing the best of Dresden - best hotel staff we have experienced in Germany
This was a lovely experience in Dresden. Able to walk to sights and restaurants. The complimentary mini-bar was an extra treat. The hotel is wonderful.
