In a former school building, the family-run Hotel Volkschule has comfortable rooms in central Hamburg. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Score from 3714 reviews Wonderful
This non-smoking hotel is just a 15-minute walk from the Mönckebergstraße shopping street. The rooms include a flat-screen TV, tea/coffee facilities and free mineral water.
Score from 592 reviews Good
This 4-star hotel in Hamburg offers beautiful views of the Elbe River, an elegant spa, and easy access to the A1 highway. The modern Hafencity district is a 5-minute drive away.
Score from 1066 reviews Good
A 3-minute walk from the Elbe River and the Reeperbahn, this hotel features Hanseatic food and free Wi-Fi. Its Tower Bar provides great views of Hamburg and the harbor.
Score from 3704 reviews Very good
location, room was fantastic with nice balcony and views to the city. Breakfast was great selection and staff very helpful. No problem recommending this hotel.
We only got to stay 2 nights
Location is about 200m away from the train station but if you walk the other way you will arrive at the 'shady area' of the zone. Otherwise the hotel is quite new with good facilities, gym, sauna etc. They also provided fresh apple daily.
Pillow was flat and hotel was pricey at the time we visited because of the convention.
Comfortable room and bathroom. Friendly staff. Walking distance from most tourist attractions.
Steindamm is not the most attractive street to walk through but that isn't the hotel's fault.
Way overpriced basic facility. Had the worst steak in ages! Even after 3 times, back and forward.
Wifi didn't work in the room Almost no amenities
I booked it with an offer and I was very pleased with the value for money ratio
Large airy spaces to sit and relax. Good bar and breakfast was excellent.
Comfortable and good staff. a small deli 200 meters away was good for breakfast.
I thought that I had reserved a quiet room with wifi access. When I checked in, I was told that I could pay more to get a "better" room with better wifi access that would be quieter than the one I had reserved. Wanting quiet and wifi, I foolishly paid extra to move up to a "superior" room. It had no wifi access at all, so I was moved again. The "superior" room finally did have wifi, and it was quiet, but I had thought I was getting all of that with my original, less-expensive, room.
-The hotel bar has a good selection of gins and a bar tender had quite good experience of those and decent level of service - the room was quite large
- I clearly requested twin beds when I booked it (selection + message) and we got double. OK, they were able to dismantle it but it was extra effort and hassle for us - Staff at the reception could be friendlier - Terrible internet connection: I couldn't get my Mac on-line at all. I got my PC on-line once but it was extremely slow and unreliable. The mobile devices were also impossible to connect. This should not be case anymore in 2014. Just incredible.... - Windows of the room were dirty - No doors for shower room
The hotel was close to the main train station and even closer to a U-Bahn stop. There was a nice bar in the lobby where you could get drinks and snacks. There were several bars, restaurants and shops nearby. I did not have any issues with the WiFi.
At 22 Euro/person, breakfast is insanely expensive. There are several places nearby where you can get breakfast for much less. Try Gnosa or one of the many bakeries nearby.
Clean, big rooms, nicely furnished. Our room had a real entrance hall and a lot of storage space. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room Good location close to the train station and U-Bahn
The wifi connection was not always very stable Our room had a shower and sink that were only seperated from the rest of the room by a curtain. Depending on who you travel with, that might be a bit uncomfortable. However there is a seperate toilet. Not all rooms have this kind of bathroom though.
Clean and nice hotel with very service minded staff. Breakfast was excellent with varied selection of food. Good location both close to the Central station and to city center.
The free WIFI at the hotel was horrible.
Hotel and facilities were good. Great breakfast. Equipped with gym and sauna.
Wouldn't recommend hamburg as a holiday destination. Not much to see or do. City was very dirty, rubbish everywhere.
THE NARROWEST GARAGE I'VE EVER SEEN!
The staff at Arcotel Rubin were outstandingly attentive and focussed on meeting needs down to the very finest detail, be it providing information, going out to find a photocopier because their copies were hard to read, an excellent breakfast that met my complex dietary requirements, a listening ear or ... or ... or .... Truly superb and in a class of their own. I often have to argue and insist to get a good breakfast in hotels but here my every need was anticipated after asking only once. Even my sleeping mascot enjoyed his stay :)!!! My only reservation was that I couldn't stay longer.
clean room, excellent breakfast
small-sized bed (I used twin bed room)
The location. The wi Fi was free for me. The breakfast had multiple offers.
It was clean and in the center area.
Free Slow internet connection, very slow. If you want a decent wifi speed you need to pay extra around 5E per day. Every time when you connect to wifi with your phone you must login, it was the worst system I have seen. In the amount of money even 1l of flat water is not given, and it's taxed with 3.5E. Extra charge with 20E/night to checkout at 2pm.
Clean, modern. Safe area as the police station is just across the road.
Very expensive breakfast. Location is near metro but in the area there are only Persian and Turkish stores.
The rooms were clean, and a good size. The hotel is in an excellent location. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The wifi was incredibly slow
It was a quiet and friendly hotel lovely food and surroundings was close-by with quite a few restaurant choices the staff was friendly very helpful enjoyed our stay. I would gladly come back and more to the point recommend this hotel
Very little in which I didn't like. I didn't like the fact that it was time for us check out I wanted to stay longer
The Arcotel Rubin is a great hotel for a Hamburg weekend trip. You can walk from central station in about 5 minutes, or take the Ubahn to the Lohmuhlenstrasse which is a 1-minute walk. The hotel is clean and the facilities are fine. We did not spend much time in the hotel and did not go to the bar or to breakfast, so I can't comment on this.
