I stayed in the hotel 3years ago so that speaks volumes if you go back to the same place. Location, cleanliness and excellent breakfast.
Staff were extremely helpful. It was in an excellent location for walking to town centre and getting around Cologne. Great variety of food for breakfast buffet
The carpet in corridors and bedroom did have excessive stains however this had no impact on the overall experience it is a fantastic hotel
Room was clean quiet and arty location next to chocolate museum great also easy walking distance to heumarkt xmas market
Location for Xmas markets is very good.
Overprized, design missing, dirt and rundown, impossible breakfast (overcrowded mess, people eating in the lobby with the foodplate in their hands..), non-communication on hotelpolicies for billing/reservation costs/ parking.. Rude and incompetent reception desks (ignoring calls and shouting). Defo not matched nor equipped for a busy holiday season. Not worth the money by far!!!!!
Hotel was light and airy. Room wass large for a European city hotel. Free tea/coffee in room. We had a view over the Marina to the Christmas Market and the Chocolate Museum. Although not right in the city centre, it is a short walk along the river to the old town, Dom etc. (10 mins) and only a few minutes to the tram network. Breakfast is varied and plentiful with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc. as well as the usual cold meats, cheeses, fruit etc. that you would expect from a continental breakfast. However at £16 the breakfast is expensive so worth checking the inclusive rates and also worth considering the many coffee shops and cafes toward the centre. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English if required.
Taxi ordered by reception for departure appeared to have been given to other guests. Need to organise with the taxi company a little better but this was a minor niggle in an otherwise perfect stay
The modern atmosphere and decor
Smokers just outside the front door, which was open virtually all the time. The buffet breakfast was acceptable, but the management of that area was sorely lacking. There needs a person on duty at the buffet all the time to ensure that everything is replenished BEFORE it is delpeted. The toaster is incorrectly set tp sufficiently toast the bread. A client ahead of me put six slices into the machine - one after another - and had to repeat the process to get the toast to her liking. This meant that I had to wait so long, that the rest of my meal had gone cold. Also the coffee machine ran out of milk which was took too long to be replaced, but the staff member replacing the milk did not notice that there was no coffee in the hopper, and it took 10 minutes for someone to come and fill it up. As it would appear that much of your clientele are business groups on courses, their breakfast is most important to them, and the current management of that area is sadly lacking. Sort this out and you will have an excellent business. Finally, I had made my booking well in advance of my visit and was very annoyed in being requested to pay €30 extra as my wife and I required a double bed. This charge was totally unjustified, but rather than make a fuss, I paid it under protest. I will be very careful when thinking of using your hotel group in the future.
Funky hotel with great staff.
Single beds were narrow but we are not used to a single bed size
location & modern design
breakfast - too expensive & generally not hot
-Fancy design -close to center
-not very cheap
Large room. Big bed. Location to Christmas Market(s).
Shower over bath - no grab handles. Mirror location in bathroom. Smart sink but water splashed everywhere. Early morning knock on door by Service Team because we had not put "Do not disturb" card on door. Expensive parking. Only 1 cup for coffee despite booking for 2 people. Broken shower head. Broken chair.
loud music on Saturday night
Spacious, clean, modern and relaxing
Wifi didn't work and staff couldn't help
- Nice location near Rhine river - Friendly Hotel Staff
The blankets. We stay in a double bed room but we got 2 small blankets instead of 1 large blanket.
The bed and shower in the room was amazing, the location of the hotel made it very easy to get to local attractions. Breakfast was lovely and all the staff were very nice.
It was very nice to stay in artotel.
Friendly helpful staff, location, views on Rhine side. Immediately offered a new room due to poor wifi reception iny original room.
Wifi! Was offered a new room as wifi reception in my original room was so poor...
We have stayed at this hotel before and it's location is excellent for seeing Cologne. This time the visit was to see the Christmas markets one of which was within a few yards of the hotel and was one of the stops for the tourist train which provided a loop around the four main markets - it was a simple but brilliant way to get around. The overall impression of the hotel that it is good relaxing atmosphere with attentive staff and good language skills.
The hotel needs a bit of a pick me up as seats in dinning room badly worn lack of attention to detail as cracked cups still being used and cover on one server broken and kept falling off also not enough staff to keep dinning room stocked for later breakfasts which meant people eating after main rush found a shortage of some breakfast items and utensils. The light coloured carpet in corridors and bedrooms are worn and stained and need replaced. Our bedroom had a faulty sink plug which meant no water boulder be kept in sink - although reported three times it still had not been fixed on the day of departure. Staff on reception were horrified that maintenance had not responded to the reports. The room was not properly serviced each day with toiletries and tea/coffee items not replenished.
The room was modern, clean and comfortable with a beautiful view over the river and Chocolate museum. One of the Christmas markets was on our doorstep. Walk to the cathedral took about 20 minutes.
Wifi kept stopping and had to rejoin network.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean,, the shower was good
I was astounded when I checked out that the receptionist told me that I had been smoking in the room and that I had to pay a charge of €50,, I explained that neither me or my wife were smokers and after a while and a brief conversation with the manager they reluctantly said that we would not be charged,,, also,on arrival we were told that there was free WiFi, this was impossible to get due to a very poor strength
Excellent staff, very professional friendly service. Excellent breakfast buffet.
I booked a room with a view of the Rhine. Yes, I could see it over the Chocolate Museum! Actually my first floor room (as all rooms do) overlooked a dock/marina area, a backwater from the main river. Not a problem but a bit of a cheeky claim.
Design of room, spacious room, great view from terrace, location next to Chocolate museum
TV and phone did not work, room was not perfectly clean, had to ask for cups (there were none in the room)
I liked the people, the location and the embient of the room. The restaurant staff were exceptional. Charming and very helpful.
I stayed foe six nights they never changed my bed sheets. The housekeeping staff refuse to give me any tea bags. The 2 tea i found ehen checked in were for 6 days.
The hotel decor was fantastic, really modern, up to date and stylish. the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in in a hotel.
the bar was was way over priced as was the hotel restaurant. you can get nicer food half or a third of the price up the road in the old town. Drinks at the bar were ridiculously over priced!
The restaurant, the view, room layout
The odour of the room, parking space
