The Art Fabrik Hotel is a unique hotel in a historic factory building which used to belong to the family of Marx and Engels. Every 3 months, the Art Fabrik Hotel hosts a new exhibition by young, contemporary artists to raise money for 8 children's hospitals.

On checking in, you can visit the hotel's unoccupied rooms and choose the one that you prefer. Some of the rooms have a private sauna, a wooden bathtub or a PC.

More than 80 artists were involved in the design of the hotel and helped to shape the stunning restaurant, café, art gallery and the Persian hamam.

Guests also enjoy free parking, several free drinks, free admission to the gallery, and complimentary Wi-Fi internet access throughout the hotel.

This historic building was once a factory owned by the family of Friedrich Engels, and Engels himself was involved in the workshop here. In the past Karl Marx received his money from here while he was writing his Manifesto.

This building now houses the Art Fabrik Hotel (Fabrik means factory). The idea behind the hotel is to combine art and charity, and the hotel is committed to supporting children’s homes. Several years ago, Roswitha and Erich Bethe, the founders of the Bethe Foundation, developed the unusual concept of the Art Fabrik Hotel.

The hamam is free of charge for guests. It is open from Sunday to Thursday between 18:00 and 22:00, and on Friday and Saturday between 09:00 and 11:00.

The hotel has 6 conference rooms with a combined capacity of 500.

Food & beverage

On Sundays breakfast is served with champagne.

In our main restaurant, nearly every table and chair has been designed by a different artist.

We serve hot food from 12:00 to 23:00 daily. In the Art-Café in the middle of our studio, you can look over the shoulder of the painters and sculptors while they work.

By car:

If you are approaching from the west, Düsseldorf, or Düsseldorf Airport, exit the A46 motorway at the junction for Wuppertal-Barmen. Follow the route towards Wuppertal-Barmen until you reach the elevated railway. After the elevated railway, turn into the 1st street on the left, the Winklerstraße. You will reach the hotel after 2.7 km.

If you are approaching from the south, Cologne, or Cologne Airport, exit the A1 motorway at the junction for Wuppertal-Ronsdorf. Turn right onto the Linde / route B51. Follow the route until you see the Seat car dealership on your left-hand side. Exit route B51 at this junction and continue straight ahead onto Lenneperstraße. Follow the signs to the Art Fabrik Hotel.

By public transport:

Catch bus line 611 at the Wuppertal-Elberfeld railway station. Get off at the Erwinstraße stop, which is located directly in front of the hotel.
