The hotel rooms have lots of character and makes the visit very special and much nicer than the usual, standard, hotel room you see everywhere. The staff are probably the best part of the visit. They are very friendly and helpful and take the time to make guests feel welcome.

Our bedroom had the wow-factor - spacious, high ceiling, chandelier, antique furniture, view over the Kurfürstendamm. The dining room was pleasant and comfortable too.

The schlep to the nearest U-bahn stations (Uhlandstraße and Adenauerplatz) was a little long, although there are plenty of buses.

Selected this hotel from the Tripadvisor reviews and its location as last time I was in Berlin was about 3-4 weeks after the wall came down and Ku'damm was the centre of everything. Wondered if we had made a mistake by being so far from many of the tourist sights, but in fact it was a good location - quiet at night with a fair few nearby restaurants. Once we had worked out that Savigny Platz U-bahn station was nearer than Uhlandstrasse it was very convenient for travelling by foot, U-bahn and S-bahn around the city. The room was right on the corner with an enclosed balcony overlooking Ku'damm, fairly large as these things go and a comfy double bed despite the split in the middle. Still not sure what you're supposed to do with these huge square pillows though. Bathroom and general cleanliness was good. The breakfast was good and filling and an unusually reasonable price compared to some places we've stayed.

Only problem seemed to be a lack of places to grab a quick beer although there were some corner stores to buy water etc once you looked for them. The tv struggled with some of the channels and someone had changed these from those in the sheet in the room. Wifi was only available beside reception or in the breakfast room, but that was sufficient for our stay.

Interesting location and transport links.

Despite the history of this old hotel it need to be "refreshed" urgently. Old and poor carpets with dark spots have to be removed as soon as possible. The dirty chairs as well ! The bathroom was not clean ( a sticking plaster remained in the bath - Unacceptable !). The floor is creaky consequently a lot of noice above us and in the hall. Poor breakfast with only cereals and bread. The rooms were - for the first time - not as described by booking.com ! My business colleagues and myself will never return to this basic hotel with (low)average services. No value for money at all ! For the same price we will return to the Hilton Berlin City Hotel. First bad experience in more than 10 years travelling in Berlin.

The atmosphere and design are astonishing. Feels like home, especially breakfasts. Location is also great with all the branded shops around.

Hotel is not worth 8,8 as it is now! It's quite ok but that's all. Hotel basically is one floor in apartment house. You see only cereals and bread for breakfast. After asking to the personal you can get 1 egg. Literally 1. And a little bit of cheese. I asked for a mixed plate for dinner (mentioned in menu, 9 EUR) but got only few slices of cheese. I've stayed only in few hotels in Germany and unfortunatelly this was the worst.

I was completely satisfied with the accomodations, the personal service of the staff , the excellent breakfast, and of course the superb location.

My room was very spacious; the staff was excellent and the breakfast was also great!

Only thing I didnt like was the coffee, but besides that, everything was perfect!

Perfect and stylish hotel for those who appreciate history, art and culture. All rooms are different and they are really big. Super location. Feeling like at home. We will stay here again!

Bed is a liitle bit narrow for 2 people

I just love that hotel for its personal feeling, fantastic rooms and familiar breakfast. price is good and this was my second time. I will come back. Hotel is relaxing and a place to stay for both business but also perfect for a city weekend with friends och family.

The interior design art deco was amazing staff proffessional situated close to resturants shops and bars

Everything was as we expected. It is an old place with period furnishings which made the breakfast room quite charming and the operator of the breakfast room was very accommodating of our wishes. It is a neat place for it's age and style. We enjoyed our stay.

The floors were creaky which didn't affect sleeping but just seemed somewhat noisy. Noise from the hallways and doors and other guests talking in the halls was high level at times. Also, the trash cans in the back courtyard were loud when being emptied.

Location Service

We liked the old fashioned charm of the hotel and the individuality of the rooms, which were spacious and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the central location on Ku'Dam and the proximity of the restaurants around Savigny Platz.

Nothing - we would stay there again.

This quirky boutique hotel was the best I have ever stayed in: staff couldn't be nicer, the room was gracious and comfortable and breakfast was copious and varied. I would highly recommend it to travellers who do not want homogenous international hotels.

Small and quiet hotel, very nice decorated; friendly staff, perfect locaion. It's the best variant for short trips.

Rather poor breakfast

It is a historical building with character. Each room is different. Good breakfast was included in the price. Free wifi in the room.

Bed pillows were very flat.

Friendliness, relaxed oldfashioned atmosphere. Good Art Deco. Breakfast is good, with your egg boiled or scrambled as you come down, just for you. We have stayed before, and would stay again.

Some noise from the street when windows are opened. We needed the windows open during sleep, as there were no other ventilation. Blinds to roll down would be an impovement. It would suit the rooms, and easier than disturbing the hevy curtains.

Very convenient for S-Bahn trains to any part of Berlin. The quiet atmosphere of the hotel. The friendly, English speaking staff. Highly recommended for mature couples, short stay.

Charming old time hotel in the heart of Ku'damm - one of the most pleasant locations in Berlin. It is really a challenge to find in Berlin something other than modern functional hotels, but Askanischer is a wonderful exception.Located at the 1st floor and looks more as B&B than hotel. Rich breakfast is served at the beauiful drawing room. Wi-fi available and free od charge (we did not have it in our room because it was located too far from Reception, but it iti available at Reception). Doulble-glazed windows, so very quiet. Would definitely choose this hotel on my next visit.
