Score from 413 reviews Wonderful
The staff was very helpful and was able to provide for us anything we needed.
We were in the last room on the hall so the wifi was a little spotty, but it still worked. The distance from the train station is walkable, but when you have small children and no stroller, it can be a little much. However, this doesn't reflect on the hotel and is just something you should be prepared for.
The room itself was good sized but retained its older timber panelling. This may not be to everyone preference but I Iiked it. Wifi was good as is the spa area. Double bed was firmer than previous room in a single but slept well enough to miss breakfast so unable to rate the meal. The street itself is a marvel.
The TV only seems to have German/Arabic channels and no English but I didn't worry too much.
Good location in main street for bus to hiking trails and restaurants (Werdenfelser Hof across the road was so much fun). Lovely friendly welcome by female staff member complete with glass of prosecco. Charming traditional decor and antiques in lobby and common areas. Absolutely awesome meal at the restaurant with a wonderful and charming maitre d' and chef (this was actually the highlight)! Bed and Wifi fine.
Bit of a hike from train station although there were some buses. Our room was in the in rear building which felt a little isolated with inadequate lighting in corridor. Main complaint which has really tarnished the memory of our stay in was the fact that we were double charged - once when we first booked the hotel and then a second time when checking out. The male staff member who checked us out insisted that the room had not been paid for although I had what I thought was a receipt from booking.com with me. When I later checked my bank details I had indeed already been charged for the stay! This matter is currently being investigated by booking.com who I must say have been most supportive to this point and I understand that mistakes can happen however I must say the hotel itself showed no interest whatsoever in this matter when I contacted them in the first instance. For this reason I can not recommend this hotel and would not stay again in future. Someone has my money and I would rather like it back! The only bad experience in our 3 week holiday in Germany.
Staff was very friendly. Breakfast - you experience how the rich and famous must live. Loved the fresh juice from oranges machine!
We could not stay longer
We had a marvelous stay at the Atlas Grand. The people are so welcoming and helpful and the atmosphere is incredibly charming (dare I say elegant?)...This was a surprise destination for a Christmas present to my discerning husband. I worried about reviews I'd read about hard beds but was very pleasantly surprised. I emailed after booking to request a balcony room with a mountain view and they gave us room 218. It was beyond perfect. My husband was so pleased with this hotel that he called it the highlight of our trip to Germany. Oh and the breakfast is truly excellent...worth every penny! The sauna is amazing- a real treat. We highly recommend and look forward to returning.
Wifi was not the best, but who comes to this charming area for the WiFi? We had enough access to plan our trains and face time with family, so it all worked out.
Location along beautiful old scenic street. Excellent breakfast with tremendous variety of food choices. Gorgeous old historic property. Fantastic, large sauna; great massage facility.
Beds/mattresses were rock hard. Internet connection very spotty.
Beautiful hotel, lots of old world charm. The staff was very welcoming and accomidating. I would recommend the Atlas to anyone staying in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
location was great and the sauna was amazing
the hotel is creepy in it's decor. so much so it made it hard to sleep. The bed was HARD as a rock.
The staff spoke excellent English and were friendly and helpful.
As a light eater, I'm reluctant to pay for a buffet breakfast. This was my only onsite option. Unfortunately there were no nearby restaurants or cafes serving a lighter breakfast. I think I'd have preferred to stay on the other side of town.
Very impressive services and the staff are very friendly and helpful .I enjoy my stay and I will come again.
We loved the location and feel of the Atlas Grand. It was like staying in a friend's old mansion. And the relaxation room and saunas were great after a day of hiking. Giuseppe, in the Italian restaurant, is the most amazing and attentive waiter. Eat there just to meet him!
The front desk and breakfast staffs are somewhat cool to Americans, even those who are well-traveled and speak some German. Most mornings, we had to wipe and set our own breakfast table while the service staff watched. And when I was unable to open our safe (with my jewelry and passports in it), it took two days for the front desk staff to send anyone to help despite our checking whenever we passed the front desk. Finally, I asked the bellman for help as he was coming from attending to the room next door. After he helped me, they sent him up again in response to my request an hour or so previously.
Hotel staff spoke good English, very friendly and gave us great directions on our stay. 15 min walk to the train station but a cab ride to city centre. That said, there is a lot of restaurants and bars around the hotel on the main street. Would recommend staying again.
Parking is off site (pay for your ticket prior to going into the parking lot). Breakfast was Euro 16; skip for the bakery across the street. Great tea and coffee and fresh pastries.
The receptionist we had this time was very comfortable to talk to
Room had paneling and made you feel like you were in a cave AND the bed was hard as a rock
The room was very clean, we can find all necessaries in the room. The speed of Wifi is acceptable. Generally Fair.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was large, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Check-in begins at 1500. We arrive after 1700 and had to wait 20 minutes for our room to be prepared.
Excellent traditional hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Very accommodating to our motorcycle tour group. Great breakfast and evening meal option too.
Beautiful hotel. The staff was helpful and the food was very good. Great location. Walking distance to food and shopping.
The beds were so hard we would have been better off sleeping on the floor.
comfort room with a verygood mountain view , 200m to free bus station to everywhere even far to the last train station before zugspize, stuff is kind and helpfull
location is great, grand looking, and staff polite.
Sleep was not good. The room was not well ventilated and smelled moist. Noise from water in pipes kept up awake in the night. Blankets smelled dusty. Hotel is old u can feel it.
Prosecco on arrival and brilliant breakfast, well worth the money if you can get a good room rate. Great location
Hot tub wasn't on and the outdoor pool a disappointment, as in it didn't look clean enough to go into it.
Free wifi! Friendly staff! Interesting room - felt like a hunting lodge sort of, not a boring hotel room! Hotel has an interesting history and beautiful grounds. And set in the most beautiful scenery and right in the heart of old town Partenkirchen
The church bells ringing at night were loud, for light sleepers you will want ear plugs.
The hotel was fabulous, the interior was pure luxury. The staff very courteous and helpful. Got the hotel on a special deal and had to pay upfront, so we took a gamble and was not let down. The meals were fabulous with so much choice.
Nothing to dislike here.
Great location, right in the cutest part of super German town. Lots of good authentic restaurants near by. Close to the Olympic ski jumps. Decorations look like they have come out of a castle! Bathroom is large and grand!! Finally a big tub and shower! Turkish bath was great! We did not know how to do it, but we did it. Nude sauna allows you to wear your bathrobe (for those of us who are bashful Americans.)
Small bedroom. Church clock goes off at all hours, it did not bother me when the window was closed. No AC. Bed was hard and not enough pillow action.
