Hotel Baseler Hof  

The hotel is located on a busy street and our room was on the street side. The room was very nice and large. It was warm when we were there and had the window open and the traffic was loud. But when the windows were closed it wasn't so bad. However...there is no air conditioning so if you are here in the summer you either sleep with the windows open and traffic sounds or windows closed and be too warm. The hotel is located by a large shopping area with great restaurants. It's also close to a lake. If you are American, walk along the lakeside and look for the American Consulate. It looks like a mini White House! The Hamburg Rathaus (city hall) is also close, go see it it's beautiful! The car park is a 10-minute walk away and is very nice but if you have a large car it can be difficult maneuvering in the garage but we managed. The breakfast was awesome -- hot foods, breads with cheeses and meats, croissants with wonderful jams, yogurts, cereal, and a your own pot of coffee at your table.

We would stay here again but not in the summer.

I like th location and I stayed there many times before.

Convenient location for the commercial centre of town, comfortable hotel and a high recommendation rating on the website coupled with the price seemed a good bet. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was more than satisfactory.

The offer price for a single room, about 30 Euros cheaper than a double, turned out to be for a shoebox. The price I imagine therefore was not a special offer price. 89 Euros for that room I felt was steep. The website picture of a building by the lake was not of the hotel, so perhaps misleading. The hotel's own website pictures of the hotel room interiors were misleading too.

The personnel on the reception was very friendly and helpful. The food for breakfast- fresh and in good variety. The room was tidy and had all things appropriate for four star hotel.The situation of the hotel is very near to the center of teh city, which made our tour easier. Next to the hotel there is a nice restaurant with good prices where we spent the New Year, it was also very good - food, interrior, music, prices.. I am very happy with my stay in the hotel and in Hamburg!

The fact that the sauna was not separated for men and women..or mainly the fact that all people there did not wear any swimming suits, was disturbing ...

* Excellent location, easily reachable from the main train station either by U-bahn or on foot (10-minute walk). Major downtown attractions are within walking distance. *a hearty buffet breakfast was included in the room price. *free 3-day pass for local public transportation (S-bahn, U-bahn, buses, ferries). Overalll, highly recommended.

Wi-fi/W-LAN is not free (costs an extra €2 /day)

Staffs are really friendly and helpful, they are excellent.

Room was too small for the money which I paid and in it became too warm I was swetting like anything. And the whole night I was unable to sleep. in summer i wont recommend some others

All staff were were friendly and approachable. The restaurant staff were smiling and efficient. The reception staff spoke good English, looking after our needs well. The lady who cleaned the room was equally pleasant and accommodating.

It suited our needs perfectly.

Service most friendly including the restaurant in the evening. For me ideal location between railroad station (Dammtor) and Old City. I found the Internet instuctions, how to get from railroad station to hotel excellent.

der fleckige Teppichboden im Zimmer führt deutlich zu Minuspunkten

Super Restaurant! Super Rezeption. Super Service am Morgen!

Möblierung nicht gerade modern! In einem Doppelzimmer hätte ich mir schon ein Doppelbett gewünscht und nicht zwei Einzelbetten, die sich auch noch verschieben lassen!
