Score from 2151 reviews Very good
great localization, 50m to underground station room is big enough, clean and comfortable nice sauna - useful in winter elevators available - it is untrue that there is lots of stairs and no elevator
- breakfast is pretty expensive, but lots of options for breakfast in close neighbourhood - additional fee for parking, but it seems to be standard in Berlin - some problems logging to WiFi
- Classy building - Value for money given discounted room rate (€200 for 3 nights) - Very central location - Very clean room & bathroom - Friendly & helpfull staff
- Matress was almost U-shaped
Excellent location of hotel. Lovely large bedroom with very comfortable bed.
Unable to get WiFi in bedroom. Breakfast was self service but tables rarely set or clean.
it was all a bit too simple, could be nice to have at least toilettries (shower gel, shampoo, body lotion) we had to run to the supermarket to buy stuff. Apart from that all great :)
Good location near the underground, typography of terror and checkpoint Charlie Fair size room Value for money via booking.com Free wifi Near the shopping district
No view (you probably wouldn't get much of a view anywhere in Berlin) No tea coffee making facilities in the room One English tv channel No bathroom toiletries No bars or restaurants within walking distance Hotel bar and restaurant had little atmosphere
Good bed. Quiet room. Cafés and restaurants nearby.
No English TV channels. No kettle/coffee/tea. And weak bedside lamps.
Clean and nice, basic 4-star-hotel. We walked almost everywhere but it was convenient to have a metro stop just a stone's throw from the hotel. Beds were soft, but pillows even too soft. Nothing special but nothing really to complain about either. I would go again.
Housekeepers were a bit too eager to change our towels every day, eventhough the recommendation was that they'd change them only if put on the floor (to help save the environment). We thought it was such a waste. I know it's a common service in 4-star hotel, but we were more satisfied with no cleaning at all during our stay. The service in the front desk was without any personality and interest in a customer. But it didn't make our stay any worse.
The location was ideal for seeing Berlin. Although the reception area was basic, we had two huge rooms plus walk in wardrobe and bathroom. Immaculate and comfortable. It was low season but there was no noise.
It was better to request a freshly cooked omelette than to eat the slightly hard scrambled eggs on offer.
I was delighted with breakfast, hot and cold buffer choice; plenty of choice generally; staff friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, quality of furniture, shower- room, television, all excellent. I asked for a quiet room, which was provided.
I didn't have any dislikes as such; but perhaps the front lobby could be improved, as it is rather forbidding and gloomy, which may let down the general impression of the atmosphere and quality of the hotel (as first impressions can be important)
Good Location Quiet Big and comfortable room Very good WiFi Close to underground Excellent breakfast
Room was in new part of the building, without a lot atmosphere
Location next to U6 at Checkpoint charley. Very easy to get there. Clean and reception personnel more friendly than what I often find in Germany.
The design of the ground floor was not attractive, including the entrance to the restaurant and the way to the lifts. Shower was not functional. The atmosphere was not personal, and I did not like the way the payment took place.
Not actually in the centre but a good location (very near Check Point Charlie and U Bahn station), but Brandenburg Gate etc walkable. The room design was simple but functional. Good selection of coffee, teas, fruits etc for breakfast to suit UK and Continental tastes but scrambled egg usually set hard.
Only one lift so the wait can be long. Restaurant open only for breakfast, but there is a nice smallish bar ('Die Bar') with a limited menu. Only one pillow per bed supplied but extra were given when asked. Only liquid soap dispensers, no shampoos. TV only had German speaking channels.
Great location and room - really good value for money
nothing - all was very good
near several central u-bahn stops
pretty boring and ugly area to stay in (nowhere to eat or really go out), so you need to leave the area to see the good parts of Berlin.
Constantly having to re log into the wifi Q:Why when the Hotel is called Angleterre that there is not one English language TV channel!
The hotel is very centrally located, next to a u-bahn station. The price is very attractive. Good lighting, big tv, safe and minibar. Room was a decent size.
The double bed is actually two twin beds pushed together with a duvet on top. The pillows aren't firm enough to support the weight of your head. The wifi is a bit weak and the a/c is a little loud and isn't cold enough. I could hear the guests above me walking so soundproofing is an issue. The bathroom needs updating. Even though the hotel is in a central location, the actual neighborhood is ugly and there is nothing much around the area.
... and soap dispenser empty 3 days.
The hotel is well located and was very clean. The staff was very helpfull. The street outside the hotel is full of coffeeshops, which is great if you don't order breakfest through the hotel. A lot of tourism attractions are walking distance from the hotel and also public transportation is located near by.
Breakfast room cramped
This was not a good experience for a disabled traveller. With the notable exception of an older member of staff at reception (tall, older guy with a moustache), they were at best disinterested, and at worst, extremely unhelpful. We had to exit the hotel through a door which was kept locked, and then enter again to the restaurant through a door which was also locked on two occasions. It would have been impossible to navigate the hotel without assistance. He was escorted to the restaurant by us and was not offered anything but coffee; the restaurant was so cramped that getting anything to eat under his own steam would have been very difficult, and he was ignored by waiters when he asked for something to be brought to his table. As able-bodied people, we really liked this hotel, but it should not advertise itself as a wheelchair-friendly resource.
Angleterre's overall quality was very good, the restaurant breakfast was fantastic, and the bicycles we rented were a delight.
We found that the things we were interested in were in the western end of Berlin. But for people interested in the standard "sights", Angleterre's location should be perfect.
There is nothing wrong with this hotel. Everything is fine. But that's it... Don't expect anything exciting.
The hotel could be a bit more edgy and less mainstream. That would turn a good stay into a great one.
Nothing to dislike - a well run hotel with a bit of character
The hotel was nice enough, the room was clean and comfortable, but there are plenty better to be had for a better price and experience.
There is absolutely nothing to be had within walking distance, except Checkpoint Charlie. Which is ho hum! The surrounding eateries are over priced and of average quality. The hotel has poor wifi, and you need to take the metro to get just about anywhere.
