The Hotel Böll is situated in a peaceful yet central location in Essen. A direct underground connection next to the hotel takes you to the exhibition centre/Grugapark in 15 minutes, and to the city centre, the colosseum, the Aalto Theatre and the philharmonic in less than 10 minutes. You can thus reach all interesting sights and attractions quickly by car or by public transport.

For 7 decades the hotel has been in the possession of the current family owners, and has been run as a bed & breakfast establishment. Modern hotel comforts and traditional management are our trademark.

Belonging to the hotel compound are an impressive gallery wing and a park. Altogether, these give the hotel a special charm and distinctive character.

The writer Heinrich Böll was often a guest of his cousin, the architect, at the Hotel Böll. Together with the photographer Karl-Heinz Chargesheimer they developed here the book 'In the Ruhr district', which documents the Ruhr district of the 1950s in unparalleled fashion, with text and pictures.

Former industrial plants which are now used as museums or unusual event venues can be found in the surrounding area. UNESCO world cultural heritage site "Zeche Zollverein" is in close proximity to the hotel. Nearby you will find direct underground connections to the exhibition centre/Grugapark (15 minutes) and to the city centre / colosseuem / Aalto Theatre / Philharmonic (10 minutes).
