Known as the City of Three Rivers, Passau is a beautiful German town in Lower Bavaria crossed by the Danube, Ilz and Inn rivers. Situated near the Austrian border, this university city is home to the biggest cathedral organ in the world with 17,774 pipes and 233 registers.
Built in 1688 by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago, the Baroque St. Stephen's Cathedral has frescoes and paintings by JM Rottmayr. Featuring classic European architecture, the historic Old Town of Passau has small cobbled alleys with picturesque Bavarian cafes and restaurants, as well as a Neo-Gothic tower. You can enjoy a cruise on the Danube River or wonder around the medieval houses that are modified into galleries.
Set between the Danube and Ilz, the 13th-century Castle of Passau was the bishops’ residence for several centuries. Travellers can visit the fortress of Oberhaus and discover interesting museums with potteries, sculptures and paintings.
The Austrian city of Salzburg is about 110 km and Linz Airport is 64.5 km away. Booking.com offers a variety of hotels and guest houses in Passau and the nearby cities of Salzweg, Thyrnau and Kellberg. The Central Railway Station of Passau has trains to Vienna, Budapest, Amsterdam and London.

Passau is a beautiful town where the Donau River joins the other two rivers. It is also the starting point for many Donay cruises. Walking around the town, visiting the Castle, or just strolling around the river walks was an amazingly relaxing experience. We arrived and departed by train, and the station is 10 minutes walking from the city center. It was the place where our river cruise started and ended, and we chose to prolong our stay in town for two nights. We recommend dining early since most of the restaurants will close. For lunch everything is open, but finding a restaurant for dinner might be a struggle. I recommend the restaurant at StadHotel Passau, it is open from breakfast to dinner and they serve typical Bavarian food.

Amazing. Great. Unbelievable. Great evening/night life.
Amazing. Great. Unbelievable. Great evening/night life. Many restaurants outside in beautiful streets. Some streets are so tiny that it is scary to walk them but I loved it. The meeting of the rivers is beautiful. Also I recommend taking a boat trip to
Linz(5hrs).

Passau has an enviable location at the confluence of three rivers. Most of the public architecture is baroque or rococo. The old town has a good vibe, helped by the presence of tourists and students from the local university. It’s a great place to stroll, with several excursion possibilities.

I have always wanted to see Passau.
I have always wanted to see Passau. We stayed there for three days. I woudl reccomend to climb up Mariahilf for a beautiful view of the old town. It is a perfect place for taking photoes. We had excellent white sausages inthe pub just across the street. Thank to the location of Helen's flat, we had all the main sights within 30 minutes, apart from West Oberhaus and the Mariahilf, of course.
Comfortable and clean rooms, very nice breakfast choices. They even provide ear plugs on the bed for people who don't like church bells. Great location for visiting Passau and also starting our cycle holiday. Was able to park outside back of hotel for 3 Euros with hotel ticket. There are about four parking places outside which we had to use as had cycles on top of our car. They also have a small underground garage under the hotel for cars. Reception were very helpful. They also have a room to store cycles.
We booked this place last minute after arriving in Passau by train, with bikes to start the Danube bike trail. It’s a bit away from the downtown area, across Inn River. Rather generic in decor, but comfortable enough with two double beds. The sauna area looked really nice - but we were too late after dinner and left too early to use it. There’s a nice little workout area with a trampoline. That was fun.
It's a great hotel right next to the train station and just a short little walk to the charming city centre of Passau. Close to cafes and restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised about the spacious room which was great for our two little children. Bed was really comfortable and we had free water which was just perfect after a long train journey. Would stay there again and recommend to freinds.
I love the apartment. Really nice, comfortable, very modern. It is very cool with the electric heating, we can adjust the heater into which temperature we want. I really recommend this apartment when you visit Passau! The location also very great, really city center, and many restaurants nearby. The host is also very friendly and very helpful!
I was in Passau for business. Place is 10/10. Clean cozy place, easy to reach. Easy to check in , easy to load stuff from the car because of driveway is so close to the entrance. Edeka and Lidl in 2 minutes. 5 minutes from the river and old city.
Great value. Good freshly renovated bathroom. Everything is new.
We had an incredible experience in this brand new apartment in Passau. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the abundance of amenities exceeded our expectations. The quiet location provided a peaceful retreat, making our stay absolutely satisfying. Highly recommend for a comfortable and enjoyable visit!
Everything was very perfect here! Room size is big enough and very clean, facilities are new, the staff at reception was friendly for some kind reminders, I really love the design of this hotel, also convenient enough because it’s so close to the train station, just 3 minutes by walking.
The apartment was clean, large and comfortable. Excellent location for visiting Passau. Excellent housekeeping service and accommodating staff. Comfortable space to relax with family and friends. Safe, covered on-site parking at an affordable price.
This is a very old, unique hotel and history abounds. It was very hot when we were there and there is no air conditioning. That is understandable for a facility this old so if you don't mind that, it is a unique place in the heart of old town
It was a stop hotel for our road trip and satisfied us fully. Great size room, clean. Has little details that you might need for your stay as like toothbrushes or sleepers etc. Great breakfast and friendly stuff. All good for us.
Location is very good, right in the center.
Ambiance is good. The hotel is within a glass museum.
The hall for breakfast is very nice, has a great view outside.
The room has a relatively big indoor balcony, which is very nice.
The room was perfect, very comfortable with some nice touches. Breakfast was very good, the staff friendly and professional. The sauna was really really nice! We loved the 2nd floor exit that takes you straight to the Altstadt.
We liked everything about the property. Our room was large and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast spread was amazing. The hotel had a secure, locked garage for bicycle storage.
The room was great, clean. The beds accommodated us perfectly. The underground parking at the hotel was a great plus. The breakfast was more than enough and the staff was helpfull.
The hotel itself is nice, a classic building that still keeps some stylish touch. It's located in a quiet area, almost in the forest. It offers free parking and a decent breakfast.
