Hotel California am Kurfürstendamm    

Very nice modern hotel in a great location. I enjoyed the private balcony overlooking the courtyard and breakfast was very good.

We stayed at the Hotel California for 3 nights, the hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from kurfürstendamm Metro station or about a 10 minute walk from Zoologischer Train Station (which you can catch to / from Schönefeld Airport). The Airport is about 40mins from Zoologischer Train Station and the trains are every hour, an all day tourist ticket for €7 can get you all around the city on the Metro (Inc to / from airport – as this classes as Zone C) The hotel California am kurfürstendamm is classified as a 4* hotel, i stay in numerous hotels every month and would say it’s more 3* in reference to the rooms, The rooms (we had a superior) are quite small in width but are long, the room had a mini bar but the water for a bath wasn’t that hot at all and the dial to select bath / shower was broken and kept coming off, there’s no Tea / Coffee making facilities or Iron / Ironing board, there’s only 2 English language TV channels (CNN & BBC World). The reception staff were more than helpful and friendly (you must obtain your WiFi voucher from here to use the WiFi (but it’s free and last 3 days) The Breakfast was brilliant, there was a great selection of fresh foods (Meats, Cereals, Salads, Fruits and drinks) to choose from, however it gets very busy and the staff working in there are more than a little slow in getting tables ready for the many waiting guests. We had cocktails in the Hotel bar every night (€8 / €9 each) and depending who you got depended on how good they were (there’s a guy about mid 30’s wearing glasses, he made awesome cocktails! – the lady serving however hadn’t a clue) The hotel is slap bang on one of the main shopping streets (when you come out of the hotel) turn left to the go to the shopping centres / high street stores, or turn right for all the high end designer shops. I would recommend this hotel but only after informing people of the above, but for the time you’ll spend at the hotel it does the job.

Nice staff, nice rooms and perfect central location. Good breakfast. Close to communications, bus and subway.

The room with large windows overlooking the main shopping thoroughfare. The electric blinds on the outside of the windows, the bathroom esp. Shower.

No tea and coffee making facilities. 2 singles pushed together - made one big bed but would have preferred a king size or double bed (room was described as a superior double).

Difficult to use the elevator

Hotel California is located in the main shopping area the underground is very close. Bike hire recommended and the main tourist area is walkable. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you

No parking available at hotel at price reduction as advertised, had to use another hotel's parking at 20 Euros a day. Bathroom glass sliding doors.

- Some reception staff did not speak English - Pillows on bed too thin - Coming back to the hotel at night (4 or 5 am) difficult because the staff is away in a backroom sleeping - you must ring the bell a lot and for a long time and wait a lot in the cold
