I booked for a double room for one person and was straight away given a single room. I had to come back and claim with the reservation for a double room. People at reception did not even apologized for any mistake and just explained it was because there was no non smoking double room left. I finally ended up with a smoking double room. This is no 4 star hotel, 3 star at best is more appropriate. There was some lino in the bathroom, no bathtube but a simple shower and some dirty towel left on the floor in the bathroom. What's more, you have to pay an extra 12.5€ for the sauna. Wifi in the room is also an option.

Breakfast The staff in the reception were not interested in the customers. They did not say hello, look at you or pay any attention at all.

Clean, comfortable room. Location very good. Breakfast fair. Use of spa and sauna charged additionally - for 550euros for 3 nights, I am disappointed we had to pay extra for spa and sauna - it's quite ridiculous.

The location was great The staff were not clear about payment, when I offered to pay on arrival they told us to wait until departure but did not warn us that they would block the money from my bank account. As this was unexpected, it lead to unforeseen bank charges. I wanted to pay cash. Also, the facilities were poor considering the 4 star rating. The room was basic, two single beds pushed together, two single duvets. (This was a holiday to celebrate our engagement) No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. No lounge area Wi fi was subject to a charge per 24 hour period or pay per hour on the hotels computers. After paying 400 euros to stay at the hotel for 5 nights you would expect free wifi, especially when you can go to mcdonalds and pay 2euros for a coffee and get free wifi.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel California on the Ku'dam during a visit to the Berlin Christmas markets in December 2011. The hotel location is fantastic as it is close to the city centre and zoo gardens area on on of the more well known avenues in Berlin, and close to numerous shops / nightlife etc. The hotel was very fairly priced. Staff were polite, courteous, friendly, and very professional. Our room was spotlessly clean, beds comfy and a good sized bathroom. No tea/ coffee facilities in room but hey so what, we made up for that by having more gluhwein at the hotels own outdoor Christmas bar. Missed breakfast due to being a bit worse for wear ! But certainly the dining room looked clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel. Plenty of guests around but the hotel was quiet. I would strongly recommend this hotel to my family and friends. Literally a 5 minute walk to Zoological Gardens train station (or bus ride/U-Bahn for the less active). From there you can get pretty muc anywhere. Recommend visitors buy a travel card for the stay either multiple 1day tickets or a 3day ticket for travel zones A, B and C because although walking around the city is best (because there are so many sights that you would otherwise miss) it is handy to jump onto a bus or train to get to some of the more further away places such as Potsdam, Treptow Park and Spandau. I lived in Berlin for 2 years and absolutely love the place. It has a fantastic atmosphere with something for everyone, vibrant nightlife, quiet restaurants/bars, historical buildings and monuments galore, beautiful architecture, bustling city shopping areas and tranquil parks, but best of all I think is that no matter where and what time, you feel safe and relaxed and the locals are friendly, and will try to help (for example if you aren't sure on which bus, train etc to catch or where from someone will invariably stop and ask you if you as ok before you need ask them).

The hotel was excellently located for transportation to both the airport and other landmarks and very conviently located near Zoo station. The room was quite spacious and clean for the price. The service in the cafe was very friendly and prompt. Though the room was amazing, surprisingly the pillows were deplorable. They were lumpy and provided poor sleep as a result. For such an elegant hotel, you would think they could replace pillows now and then. Use of internet required the feeding of coins for a minimum of time. Printing of boarding passes was additional. The english channel was a hefty fee of 12.50 euros and you could only watch what was on offer. There was no selection. I was definitely disappointed by the nickel and dime charges for such a nice hotel.

The hotel is superbly placed on the Kurfurstendamm, right in the middle of Berlin's major shopping street. It is very close to the nearest S-Bahn station (Zoologischer Gardens), about 10 mins walk, and there are U-Bahn stations even closer (as well as bus stops). The hotel is as centrally placed for exploration as you could hope to be in a sprawling city like Berlin. The staff were all very friendly and spoke much better English than our German! The room was very comfortable and mostly quiet (with the exception of some Russian singing outside one night!), and the food that we had (breakfast) was lovely. A great hotel, very competitively priced and ideal for a short holiday in Berlin.

It was a very convenient place ti go to the train station and shops, right in the middle of the most famous shopping area. Great area to be at! It was very noisy because we stayed at the older part of the hotel in level 1 over looking the main street, luckily we were very tired that we had no trouble to sleep. However, the noise came from the front ground floor was loud, may be double glazing the window may reduce the sound. Also customers should be advised that whether they are choosing the old or new part of the hotel.

Good location. The room was bad, dirty carpets and curtains. The bathroom was very narrow. In general, the room was very poor and no way this could be a 4 star hotel, but max 3.

We have actually stayed here before on our last trip to Berlin. Ideal location. Lovely rooms, very helpful English speaking staff. Very good breakfast hours. On this occasion I was actually having surgery so the comfort of my room to relax was very important, it was superb, we had a huge balcony which was lovely to relax on after my surgery, lovely. Some sort of room service could add to this excellent hotel.

Excellent breakfast, with a wide choice. Our room was compact, but comfortable. When my husband requested lighter bedding, it was delivered promptly. The location of the hotel is excellent. We were able to get International Herald tribune on day 1 of our stay. On subsequent days only newspapers in German were made available. It's a relatively small matter, but it is that extra attention to detail that makes the difference between good and a great hotel.

The location was perfect and the noise levels in the hotel were excellant. The rooms were very clean. The water in the shower was not hot enough. There were no tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were not freindly at all - seems this is common for Berlin though. The breakfast room was too small for the number of guests and the food was not varied enough.

Clean room and location of hotel both good. Decent breakfast Breakfast room sometimes very busy, Suspect I was not given the "superior double" room as per booking.com but rather a standard room. Expected a bit more for the price paid.

Good location with some decent restaurants and U-bahn nearby. Room was clean, spacious and surprisingly quiet as it was on the 1st floor looking onto the main street. Staff polite and helpful. Breakfast buffet was ok. Ideal hotel for a weekend break. Probably more of a 3 than a 4 star.

“We all like visiting to Crowne Plaza City Centre. The hotel was fantastic and served with all sides of the residence. Facility, atmosphere and services were good in the swimming pool area, the reception and the breakfast restaurant. Our kids liked especially the swimming pool area and all offers in the breakfast table. The location was great, exactly as we expected.” Marianna, Helsinki |
