CARAT Hotel Berlin  

The hotel was close to the airport, and only 20 minutes from the centre of Berlin by U-bahn. The room and breakfast were both good, and the staff helpful. The hotel can be reached easily from Tegel airport by taking the No. 128 bus to Kurt-Schumacher Platz and then changing to the M21 bus (same bus stop) - 2 stops to the next crossroads. Buy a Welcome to Berlin travel card which will cover all train and bus travel and gives a discount on entrance to main tourist attractions. An excellent location.

Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant is closed on Saturday and Sunday night, so we recommend that you eat in Berlin centre before returning to the local area. The pizzeria just down the road from the hotel was awful and best avoided.

I chose this hotel because it got great reviews in cleanliness, as well as service. For me, those are the two most important factors. I also needed something near the airport because I was flying out of Berlin in the morning. When I got to the hotel, I was happily pleased to be immediately greeted by the front desk staff who quickly got me situated in my room. I had originally made a reservation for a single room, but ended up bringing one of my friends, and the staff quickly helped me change my reservation. I was happy to find that the hotel is clean and doesn't smell old or musty like a lot of the hotels I visit. I was happy also to find that there is an elevator on the bottom floor which was a relief because I've had to lug all my suitcases up flights of stairs at previous hotels. The front desk staff was really friendly and gave me a great recommendation for a delicious Italian restaurant that was down the block from the hotel. When I got to my room, I was pleased to discover it was very clean and had a very comfortable bed. Overall, I completely enjoyed my time here, and will definitely return here when I am in Berlin again in the future. Hope this helps.

The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. When i did not get hot water in the morning, they immediately sent the house-keeping for assistance and helped me in getting the hot water.

The hotel was bit far from the station. minimum 10 minutes walk from the S and U bahn stations. But there are buses running from Ubahn station Kurt-Schumacher . bus 122 and M21 in which u should get down in the second stop. The room seemed to bill small.

Very nice reception on arival from staff, very clean and comfortable in good location handy to the airport and the city with excellent value for money. Great choice for breakfast. Would stay again. Thanks

Loud, the neighbourhood was not so nice.

The neighborhood is very quiet, close to U-Bahn entries ( lines 6 and 8 take you directly to the city center).The staff spoke English very well and everyone at the reception was very nice, they even gave us the room at 11 (although the check-in starts at 14.00). Regarding the cleaning, nothing to complain about, everything was great! It really worth the money!

Exceptionally good value for money, doubtless because location is less than desirable except for airport access. Room was large, comfortable, spotlessly clean. Breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen and open early, doubtless for those who (like me) need to get an early plane. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the rather bleak neighborhood and the 10-minute walk from the nearest U-Bahn station. Not a bad walk except with heavy bags. There is a bus that connects the U-Bahn station with the hotel; it would be worth making this information available. Connection to the center of Berlin is rapid, so the hotel does work for a longer stay than the night before a flight, especially for those on a budget.

As noted, the rather bleak neighborhood with few options for food. I didn't try the hotel restaurant, which is the only one around. If it's as good as the breakfast buffet, it's good.

I like the location, everything is well organise and clean well and service is very good, am so happy to stay in this hotel, am enjoy in.To many shops near by and bas stop is very near.

Very close to Tegel airport. A nice bed.

Very expensive Internet - 8 euro per hour.
