Location was great, close to the main train station to and from airport and other places in Germany. Staff were friendly and we're very helpful.
Only thing I could say I didn't like is the hallways carry sound a lot, echos of people coming to and from rooms and cleaners in the morning. Not a big deal at all though.
Close to Christmas markets. Many restaurants nearby. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Walking distance to most everything. Felt safe at night.
Breakfast was not included, but at 8 euros it was well worth the price.
No comfortable chair in the room room set up for business people and not holiday guests minimal control on heating -- room to hot - with window directly over bed head could not open at night -- 312 turn bed around could not get internet in room
Reasonably priced hotel close to Xmas markets older area of city. Best feature-the mattress. Brilliant.
Surrounding area tended to be noisy: especially the street side. If staying there try to get a room on the opposite side over-looking the courtyard but there will be some noise at weekends.
Great location right nearby the river a number of Cologne sites, restaurants, etc... The Cologne Dom is only minutes away. I did not purchase the breakfast as I wanted to walk around the city both mornings but did look and it seemed very international with eggs, meats, etc... and the usual European fare - so if I wanted to eat there I think I would have been OK. I took a walk over the train bridge (with the many love locks on it) and a visit to the Panorama building was nice - chose to return via the park by there and the next bridge so it was about 14km total for the round trip.. but nice and easy to do if you are just out walking.... This was my 2nd visit to Cologne and this time Christmas markets were in full swing so a lot of people... but there were at least 7 of them scattered around so you can explore each... beware the Glüwein areas as that is where most people are! But a nice city and the hotel is within so many things to see and do. Another nice thing was that I had my Do Not Disturb sign out even while on my walk and the cleaning crew put fresh towels on a bag on my door handle... That was nice service!
'Great Location' but be aware you can not drive to the hotel. It is on a back pedestrian only street without any parking. There is a parking garage 200 meters away though if you know about it (ask the reception) and only 8Euro with hotel validation. Maybe ask via e-mail for directions in advance so you do not have to worry about illegal parking while you find the hotel - I did not know beforehand. While the hotel was overall very nice (and they were repainting areas to keep it that way) the only complaints might be that the hallways echo the noise of people outside so you hear a lot of noise from people going to/from their rooms. Not a major issue if people are respectful but... Also my room looked out over the courtyard and there was a small cantina there that did have music until very late (or early depending on your view). If it was warmer out and I had the windows open that might be a problem as I just heard the music with the windows closed.
Rooms were small, but very clean and comfortable. The best shower, instantly hot and lots of water. Location 'bang' in the middle of the old town, making it easy to see the city on foot. Plentiful breakfast (although should have taken own tea bags!) Great choice for a 'City Break'!
No English / Breakfast tea. Reception staff, while not rude, could have been more helpful. Hotel made a mistake on the final bill - we had to wait while they sorted it out and served other people in the meanwhile - that said, they did recognise their mistake and did sort it out!
It was a one minute walk to one of the Christmas markets/shops/bars. Man on reception very friendly and accommodating – gave us an umbrella in case it rained! Reception open 24 hours.
Nothing springs to mind as we did not spend much time inside.
I was in a single room 103. There was a light outside which meant that the room was illuminated all night even with the curtains drawn. It was very noisy with the bathroom of the adjoining room next to the bed. Also it would have been good to have been told that the spa was being refurbished before I got there.
The location of the hotel for the Christmas markets (there are several in the area). The room was small, but ok. I like the wood floors, helps with the overall cleanliness. Breakfast hours were good, food was ok.
The staff at the front desk were nice, but didn't make any extra effort when asking about area sights (made no effort to get information about sight seeing cruises of the Rhine River). Disappointing but not a deal-breaker. I think the positives outweigh the negatives.
Everything is perfect during our stay.
Location is very hard to find. It will be better if you provide customer a better map but if you found the hotel, you will know that it is very easy to walk to every places in Koln.
Breakfast was SUPER. Staff very welcoming and informative. Very Clean.
Guests & "STAFF" "SMOKE" outside the front door. This "STINK" rises to the bedrooms above and if the windows are open for ventilation you are sleeping in an ashtray!!! Not pleasant at all. We were in room 211 - right above the main entrance and our friends in 208. Both rooms stank of cigarette smoke - HORRIBLE!!!! Bathrooms poorly ventilated, extractor not working and the drains smell badly.
Central location for Christmas markets Good size room Would stay again
Close proximity to the station and cathedral, bars and restuarants
There were two single duvets on the double bed which was irritating and the sauna wasn't working when we went.
Location Cleanliness Breakfast Comfortable beds
Slightly noisy at night.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They changed my room when wi-fi didn't work. The breakfast was very good.
Paying for wi-fi. This is 2014 not 2000, it should be included in the room rate. Having to change rooms because the wifi transmitters are too few and poorly placed. The pillows are poor. They're thin and uncomfortable. The bathroom tile grout is moldy.
The location was excellent
That some of the staff were not helpful and there was two single beds pushed together to make a double bed
couldn't be in a better spot.
parking was a bit of a search with the Christmas market opening on our arrival day.
Location, cleanliness, room ready early and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend and visit again. Great value for money.
Beer at the bar we found not to our taste but this was no problem as there are many bars in the area.
The staff was very helpful with all requests. They were accommodating special needs and caring about the guests' wishes. Suggestions were made to facilitate individual situations.
The kind of lights in the room were not giving me enough light to see well.
location, cleanliness. Plenty of nice restaurant all around
rooms very small, not really a double. Bathroom really small and not very comfortable
Large room, fantastic shower and quiet place.
Lift is too small, but that is very commom in older building in Europe. No big deal.
-Close to lots of things to do (didn't get to experience the neighborhood). -Evening staff was sharp/helpful/nice!
-Parking was offsite (booking.com information didn't make that clear). -I had a hard time finding it. -Internet wasn't free in room! -No one told me there was breakfast! -When I later ordered breakfast and later they wouldn't use my credit card because the fee for breakfast wasn't enough for their minimum. I was running low on cash and needed it for parking.
Stone floor on corridor and thin doors caused a lot of corridor noise to pass into the room. Door locks were very old and noisy.
Very helpful personnel. Quiet and central location. Close to the river and Dom. Clean room. I was lucky to get my room ready much earlier than my check-in time.
The staff at reception was lovely. The location perfect within the Altstadt. We had a very comfortable large room with two single beds.
Location of breakfast room stopped us from having breakfast there ( 2nd bottom level - no windows.) But very easy to find Cafe's close by to have lovely breakfasts and food as such !
