Close to the lake on both sides. Great choice of fresh breakfast items. Access to roads for all directions. Although we have listed quite a few negatives we had a lovely stay which was not spoiled by them.

Dissapointed that our rooms lake view was across quite a busy road and public car park - not a problem with the window closed but if it had been hot the noise would have been intrusive (no air con). Nice view though! Limited free car parking around the hotel. We had to pay €2 every day to park across the road in the public car park which also became full at times. Feel ripped off by the cost of having a dog with us - €20 a night is far too much. Only found out the cost when we paid the bill. Finally the main moan - no English translations for anything. Surely the hotel information could be translated and kept on a data base for printing when required. Not many staff spoke English other than those on reception.

There were a lot of good about this hotel. If you travelling by car, it is ideally located in a peaceful small town, but with quick access to cities like Hamburg and Lübeck. There are nice nature locations too within reach of less than one hour. The hotel is by the lake, you can go swimming from the hotel pier, or you can go rowing or canoeing with hotel equipment. On the other side of the road, there is public beach for a swim, as well as very nice fish restaurant and an ice-cream pavillion. The center of Ratzeburg is also very near, within easy walking distance. The hotel itself seems to be recently renovated and is in very good condition. Also the rooms are in good condition and spacious, or at least our's was. Breakfast is good, although quality has been chosen instead of quantity and variety.

I wonder why they didn't install proper ventilation and airconditioning system toghether with the renovation. When the outside temperature is +25 or above and it is sunny, the hotel and rooms get very warm. You have to keep window open to be able to be or sleep in the room. And if you are on the road side of the building, the noise from the quite busy road is disturbing. Also there are warnings that insects come in during nights if the window is open... taken all this into account and the fact that this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, I really suggest the hotel management to rethink installing a cooling ventilation system to the hotel. I would pay easily 20€ per night more for that luxury. Also, if the window is shut during the night, it feels that the ventilation in the room doesn't work. It feels like the air just stands still. For car users there are not enough parking spaces within the hotel area. On the other side of the road there is a public parking area, but it costs during 10-18. I wonder if hotel could agree with the town that their customer's could park there for free. E.g. by giving a parking ID to be visible on the dashboard.

Friendly staff, good food at restaurant, great views from restaurant/bar.

Parking was poor, had to use public pay parking which was surprising in holiday area hotel.

We stayed in a newly renovated room which was very comfortable. It is so nice to have tasteful decor and nice linen when you stay in a hotel - the experience felt like a treat! The staff were also very efficient and nice but also unobtrusive. A stunning location on the lake. It was probably the cleanest hotel room we have ever stayed in.

The location and the beauty of the lake right by the hotel are just phenomenal. The hotel staff are nice and friendly and the free parking space although very limited but was a blessing. The rooms were big and cozy. The hotel is about 30 minutes drive from Lubeck and 45 minutes drive from Hamburg. Both worth a visit.

The lack of an air conditioner was not a plus especially when there were so many mosquitos when you left the window open.

Beautiful location. Fantastic rooms. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very nice walking/running path around the Kuchensee (7500m).

    No AC in rooms.
