Location, breakfast, free fruit and newspaper
Extra bed + matreass in double room (for child) was very poor. Poor wall and window isolation (noisy).
Was perfect for visiting the Cologne Cathedral and Christmas markets. Was upgraded to a larger room by a very sweet receptionist.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was great, close to main train station and the Cathedral. We walked to four different Christmas markets quite easily.
The rooms were small and dated and the shower was tiny.
Proximity to train station and the Cathedral.
I was not aware that the toilet was in a separate room in the hallway which was inconvenient in the middle of the night. At least the shower/sink was in the room. If this was indicated on Booking.com, I missed it. I would not have booked if I had known about the toilet in the hallway and not in the room.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Dom Hotel. Staff was very friendly, room was really good and the location couldn't be more ideal. A 5 minute walk from the Dom, which also means close to the first Christmas market and all the shops. Perfect for this time of the year.
Maybe a little remark regarding the WiFi. We were on the third floor and the sweet-spot to get a little bit of WiFi was hard to find. Not that we really needed it, but the staff of the hotel might want to know.
The apartment was situated between the Cathedral and the high street shops on a quieter side road. we had plenty of room in Apartment 1, two bedrooms each with a double bed & two singles together. However only single duvets on the double beds. The loo & bathroom were seperate so it felt like having two bathrooms so great for privacy. A large hallway, kitchen & living room, this was a good size & layout, i could have moved straight in & called it home.
On checking in the staff were unaware of our breakfast being pre-paid in our price. And my email went missing regarding confirming parking so we didnt get a special rate, however the 24h indoor parking was close by at €20 per nite. Struggled to find the hotel as it was a bit further from the Cathedral than i assumed as there are lots of side roads in this area if Cologne.
Location - near enough to Dom but far enough to be quiet at night Room had been recently refurbished We requested still water instead of our complimentary fizzy water every day and it was no bother
No outlook from room Although room had been refurbished sink had a huge crack in it - it should have been replaced Bed was too soft for me - but that is a personal thing
Good for the price, good location
The wifi was disconected all the time
When my group arrived it was late and we were put in a one bedroom apt with extra beds in the living room. We had booked a two bedroom we complained to the guy on the desk and he said there was no available apts. The next morning we went down to reception to complain but in fairness to the manageress Didier (I think) she was excellent. She was waiting for us and had a beautiful apartment across the street ready for us. Bright, warm, all mod cons comfy beds and good wifi.
Only downside, the large two bed apartment for 8 people could do with another bathroom or wc. If I was hotel owner I would consider putting one in the huge entrance hall as there would be enough space to build there.
Able to leave bags at reception
Builders present, hotel should be closed for amount of refurbishment being done, no breakfast available.
what was on the breakfast it was good! location was okay!
zimmer very small and the staff not very friendly , parking difficult. the wait staff for breakfast did not refill and she did not ask if we need any more coffee, just not what i expected for the cost.
near the christmas markets Friendly and helpful employees breakfast good beds spacious appartment
heating did not work correctly, they could however not repair that during the night, we were given some extra's for the incovenience though. The showerhead was "lame" and came down all of the time. The coffee at the breakfast was not our taste at all...
Breakfast was great.
Small room and bed
Couldn't fault the location.
Why hotels say there is parking when in reality they do not have the facility and send you to a supermarket is an irritant.
I stayed in the suite on the 5th floor. Very large with kitchen. Comfortable felt like an apt.
a bit cold in the winter.
Great location, fantastic apartment, it didn't exactly match the pictures but it was actually better so a nice surprise! Reluctant to rave on about it too much as I want to be able to get it again!!
My only slight disappointment was that the wifi cut out in the main bedroom. It's fine in the lounge, kitchen, hallways etc but cut out when you walk in the bedroom - perhaps it shouldn't be an issue but I like to have the option.
If you look at the family room pictures, they look ok, but the actual apartment is actually different. It's much better, very comfortable. And not to mention the location, 300m from the Central Station and the Dom.
Nothing to mention.
location is great close to the Dom. the hall and breakfast area are nice. good breakfast, nice staff.
the room was very old, furniture should be changes and renewed. some parts were broken. moquette was not very clean. for the money paid was not worthy
staff were great communication smart design excellent breakfast
wife could have been stronger in my room on 3rd floor
Next to tram and restaurants. In the center of the city. Breakfast was typical German, but very good.
The heaters, even on high, didn't heat the room well. Lucky it was only early November.
In general we liked the hotel. Location was awesome. It takes 5 min to Dom and central station. Schildergasse and oldtown(altstad) were also very close, 10-15 min by walking. At the reception Ms/Mrs Didem ( surname was Eren or something similar ) was very helpful and kind. We would like to thank her again. We stayed in a flat. It was clean, tidy and big enough for 5 people.
One of our neighbours was terrible. They ringed the door 3 times at the middle of the night. Because they didnt have their key. But I guess its because we stayed at a flat. Normal hotel room could have been better.
Good location a couple blocks from the Dom. Friendly helpful staff. We had a suite with separate bedroom for the kids.
Rooms were a bit dated, although we were told that a renovation is planned later in the year.
the breakfast was ok, with a moderate price
tv didn't work, wifi didn't work, the extra bed was so small, I thought I lay on the spring when I went to sleep
The receptionist and other hotel staff were very nice.
The bathroom was too small...
Booked a family suite for 5 adults and was amazed at the size of the living room with large windows, accommodating 2 single beds, a pull-down bed plus sofas, chairs and plenty of room space. Small galley kitchen and large bathroom plus main bedroom with 2 twins/close double. Excellent location near the Cathedral was a bonus.
Choice of huge painted canvas artworks on walls - no problem with looking at paintings of nude ladies, but it needs to be done well, these were a bit slapdash looking and were the only spoilers in the room. A later check-out time than 11am would have suited us better but we realise this is fairly normal for most hotels.
