Hotel Domhof  

The Hotel's location is excellent. It is only a short stroll to the Dom and the main shopping street which has a lot of character. We booked quite some time ago and had a wonderful corner room with several windows and a pleasant view. There are only two floors but the Hotel has a lift which is good. On site parking is available in an above ground or secure undercover garage. Breakfast is served in a large sunny room and is plentiful. In summer it probably spills into the courtyard. Very pleasant staff.

The visit was spoilt by two receptionists whom we met on arrival. We were there before 2pm and were told to return later. Very officious, no courtesy, no invitation to leave luggage and just very matter of fact. We were not asked whether we wanted either of the parking locations, just had to work it out ourselves. No offer to help with luggage although we didn't need it but others may. In summary, more like arriving at the rail station than at an hotel. Management should remind staff that they are not clerks but the front office of a hospitality business.

Ideal for exploring Speyer. You can see cathedral from the hotel window. Exellent local restaurant near hotel. Free parking. Spacious room for breakfast (very good).

Everything was very good except getting there due to the area being closed to vehicles due to and extremely interesting farmers market being held in adjacent areas but a multi storey car park at the other end of the area was only Eu2.50 A day. Breakfast excellent. No restaurant in the hotel but the Domhof Brauhaus next door provides excellent beer and meals. The hotel is virtually under Speyer cathedral (Dom), the hourly clock chimes could be troublesome. The magnificent new organ was dedicated at time of visit, this organ sounds superb.

Beautiful hotel in a great setting within the city of Speyer, just minutes walk to the cathedral and the city centre.

The standard room we had overlooked the beer garden and was, therefore, a little noisy.

Der Frühstücksraum ist, wenn man wegen des Wetters den Innenhof nicht benützen kann, ziemlich klein. Die Beleuchtung im Zimmer ist für das Lesen fast zu dunkel (Deckenleuchte und Schreibtischleuchte fehlen). Es fehlt an Steckdosen im Zimmer.

Lage und Preis

Das Hotel liegt super zentral, direkt gegenüber dem Dom und in der Altstadt und trotzdem sehr ruhig. Das Zimmer (Standard) war sehr geräumig und stilvoll eingerichtet. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ praktisch keine Wünsche offen und es wurde ständig nachgefüllt. Wir waren rund herum zufrieden. Super Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis

Es hat Atmosphäre auf Grund der alten aber gepflegten Räumlichkeiten, Möbel, Bilder. Sehr schön ist der Innenhof. Ruhige Lage

Besonders gefallen hat uns die hervorragende Lage und die kostenlosen Parkmöglichkeiten für Hotelgäste (ausgenommen die Tiefgarage, hier kostete das Parken 5 Euro am Tag).

Der Preis (95 Euro pro Nacht) fanden wir persönlich etwas zu hoch. Die Nacht darauf haben wir in einem anderen Hotel (1 Stern mehr) für etwas mehr als die Hälfte des Preises bezahlt.
