Score from 692 reviews Very good
We just spend one night there and we did not expect a wonderful place, just a fair hostel and it was more than that. The receptionist was very helpful, nice and gave us very good recomendations about the city. Everything was very clean and very ok
It is located a bit far from the city centre but is easy to get there
Wifi was good. Doors locked at night. On street parking was free if you could find it.
The location was far removed from the city centre. Many workers from the city appear to live here. Most of these were men, so may be disconcerting to female travellers. Toilets were not in good nick. Got woken up by noise from a fight in the street during the night. It appears as if it is a rough area.
Staff very helpful for storing our trikes safely. Very well kept
No staff on premises overnight, in case of problem. Rooms in groups like an apartment, and our neighbour left personal stuff in washrooom. No access to washbasin if someone using shower. Good if you go as a group of 6 people!
The rooms were really small.
1) Spacious rooms 2) Fridge in room 3) TV in room 4) Silent neighborhood
1) A bit far from U-Bahn station, but there is a bus stop near.
Does what it says on the tin. Good setup, clean, feels secure. Check in process was efficient and the desk staff friendly. All good.
The day time staff were very nice but this is about the only good thing at the hostel.
In the evening at 9pm the first night we checked in we asked the man on reception a question and he yelled at us saying he will only speak to new arrivals after 9pm. We were only asking a simple questions about going pots and pans for cooking the next evening. We then went upstairs and sat on the bed which collapsed immediately. My boyfriend pulled off the mattress to find the bed taped together in the middle on both sides. Too scared to go back to reception we tried to fix it ourselves but had no luck. Finally we went back to the man at reception at about 9.30pm an he started screaming at us saying it was our fault and that he would not help I showed him a picture and after we raised our voices he finally put us I. A new room which took him two minutes to arrange. Besides this incedent I generally didn't feel very safe or comfortable in the hostel and I think it would be better to pay a tiny bit more to be closer to town and save on public transport which is about 6 euros a day from this hostel anyway.
Very quiet and cheap place!
I don' t like white curtains in very sunny summer at 3.30 am.
Cheap Friendly staff Good connection with highway Good kitchen system (you give a caution of 25€, get all kinds of kitchen equipment, you clean it and when giving back all of the stuff you get it back) Big fridge in the bedroom
Public parking was tricky to find (busy residential area) Big dining room very warm (limited ventilation possibility) Ventilation in bedroom limited (window, no airco)
While not exclusively so, this hostel is dominated by groups of immigrant workers living there for an extended period, because it is cheap. You see them cooking their lunch and eating together at the downstairs canteen; you see them blocking the main entrance late at night as they sit together on the stoop and drink; and you run the risk (as happened to me) of being assigned to a suite where you are sharing a bathroom with a whole group of them. (However, the individual rooms are well sound-proofed.) This hostel claims on the Booking.com site to be located in Hamburg's central city ("Mitte") but that is a lie - it is actually 3 km or so to the East. The area is green and residential - but it is not the city center.
nice twin room for low prices
transport system was inconvenient
Big rooms Value for money
Location, a little far away from city center
Great hostel, very nice and polite stuff. Very good facilities. Rooms are clean and I can reccomend it to all, especially to solo travelers and young people.
Everything is fine. Maybe only problem can be a Letzer Heller street, which is small and unknown in neighbourhood. Just take metro(U-Bahn) U2 or U4 to Rauhes Haus, and then bus nr. 116 in front of the metro Rauhes Haus and get off at Horner Brückenweg! That's it :) The most easiest way to find it!
thin walls and noisy rooms
Fair away from city center, early check in times, since we arrived just before the deadline the staff did not want to assist us with local info, drove to city center instead of taking public transportation since we didn't have good info, my son has stayed at many hostels while in Europe and he reports he usually takes free tours provided by hostels especially since many are located near city centers, parking was limited and had to park numerous blocks away, doors not locked at night
It is cheap, so do not expect much. Otherwise the staff is okay, and the hostel is quiet.
It's relativly far from the city centre, 10 minutes subway and 10 minutes walking.
Quiet location in a residential area handily close to Lidl. Great for people traveling by car.
Basic bathroom and kitchen facilities, clean and no frills but ok if you bring your own soap, detergent, plates etc
It was cheap
The pictures must be either modified or have been taken a long time ago. This place is not so cleans (stains on the walls and bugs).
too far away from town
The hotel staff were very friendly, they give very clear instructions how to get to the city center. The room was very clean though you have to make your own bed.
In general it was good,it's a bit far from the city center, you have to take a bus to the metro station and go from there. But the buses are very punctual in Hamburg,we didn't have to wait for very long.
Location not ideal
Friendly and helpful staff, easy check in/out. Clean and neat room including the fridge (medium sized) and the TV. Super clean bathroom and the toilet !
Very friendly, nice and helpful staff; Quiet location with fair access to transport Really cheap for a separate room
walls were dirty. Weird yellow things on. Cold halls + room + hostel in general.
