really good location
Cheap price, central location close to the more exciting parts of Hamburg. Decent cleaning.
The room smelled and was very dull looking. Bathroom facilities lacklustre with barely working shower etc.
The room had an unpleasant odor.
Central location close to Karolinen-/Schanzenviertel
Massive building site behind hotel - loud early in the morning and not a nice view
Good location nearby everything, shared bathroom but clean and OK.
Work site, lots of drilling and hammering in the morning,
Just the Location
Staff not helpful AT ALL
The internet in the room was very slow and sometimes disconnectd.
The cleanliness of the hotel in the rooms was ok
The hotel looked like a builders yard with all scaffolding put up and staff was not very welcoming upon arrival. Loud noises throughout the night made it a disappointing stay.
Comfortable bed, great location for exploring Hamburg from, some nice restaurants nearby, and we actually loved hearing the sounds of St Pauli stadium on Saturday evening! The bathroom was clean and large, and we had no problem with it being a shared one. Although next to a busy road, it is set back slightly so despite having a room at the front, the trees outside meant we did not feel the traffic was an issue. Staff were all very friendly and courteous. Highly recommended for the price.
The coffee could have been better... There was no lift, which would have been a problem if we were higher than the first floor. There was only one chair in the room; two would have been nicer so we could both sit at the table. While we did not find it unpleasantly noisy, some people might not appreciate the inevitable sounds of the city which any budget hotel guest might encounter. For a longer stay than a weekend, the lack of drawers/storage could be an issue.
Large rooms, comfy beds, clean facilities, friendly staff, perfect location. This hotel is probably the best bang for your buck in all of Hamburg as it's right near both Sternschanze and St. Pauli, two big hip party neighborhoods. 24 hour reception is a plus, so is the relaxed and easy going attitude of the staff.
The downside: no free wireless. Sorry, in this day and age it's almost a crime not to offer it. How this hotel gets away with it I don't know. Despite all of Figaro's postive aspects, it would be my second, third or even forth choice for Hamburg simply because it doesn't have free wireless. Something easy for the hotel to remedy, I'm sure. Hint hint.
no elevator no parking noisy construction nearby
Perfect location right next to the U-Bahn station and everywhere in the city is accessible by walk. Very good value for money. Bathrooms/showers are clean enough.
Pretty basic service. Next to a construction site, so it's quite loud at night.
Location was convenient for StPauli area.
Dirty No ensuite Expensive - paid much more than other travellers- definitely well over priced. Smelled heavily of cigarettes Ripped stained mattress No breakfast but would not have ate there anyway
The location: pretty close to the center (a picturesque way), U-bahn across the street. Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte is in 10 minutes, absolutely worth visiting. A quiet hotel with free wi-fi and kind staff! I enjoyed my stay there.
If you are visiting within the World Football Championship, do choose the quiet side of the building. It was worth hearing the hurrays when Germany won in 2014! But the rooms with a view to DOM should've been too noisy that night. In other days that's great!
The Guesthouse is very close to a metro-station and makes it easy to go back and forth to the city. WI-FI but only in the lobby.
Poor costumer-service. Low quality mattress.
the staff always knew what you needed. were fast and were always there. The location is perfect exactly in between the best places to go out and felt pretty safe.
I mean you cant ask much for the money and thats just what it is.
It's surprisingly okay! Nothing fancy but it's totally fine and in a good location.
The room was listed as having a double bed, but instead contained two twin beds.
Smell really bad,dirty
To be honest I didn't like anything and regret that I booked this hotel.
Verry smelly room, dirty walls and bed.
The location to the city was great! If you didn't want to take the short stroll into the city, the metro is right across the street.
Parking in the street of this area is impossible. The hotel does not have any parking. We parked in a paid garage nearby which turned out to be quite pricey. The staff have basic English, some better than others. There was no wifi available when we went. As others have said this is a very basic hotel with some pretty tired and worn out facilities. It's not the cleanest. Although it's a non smoking hotel it smelt very much like smoke (especially the bedding) and an ashtray was provided in our room. Bathrooms/showers were limited and unclean. Fine if you don't mind foregoing these 'luxuries', but as a seasoned traveller I'd say it's not good value for money
Location is good. Staff are there 24h, and very helpful. There are good and clear maps at the reception, to take whenever you like.
All the hotel is old, and it was surrounded by construction space, but this might be different when others arrive. Also, the staff at the reception speak very poor English (unlike the rest of the people in Germany we talked to).
Location is the best part of this "hotel".
One toilet and one showers per floor. Can smell faded cigaret smokes everywhere. Hot water in showers is an extra - it disappears several times while one takes a shower. Wi-fi only in the "lounge" area. Construction near by - constant noise.
Central for Knust venue , short stroll to Stadium, Fanladen, and St Pauli FC minded bars. Thanks to all for a wonderful weekend..
When we needed help by sorting out the rooms over 10 people, he did a good jop!!
