First Domizil    

We stayed on the 5th floor. The room was clean, classy, comfortable, and the rooftop balcony had an amazing view of the streets and especially the cathedral! The owners also have the pizza shop right next door so are always available If you need help getting in,the door codes can be tricky until you get used to them! And the pizza is great too! All around loved the place and if we ever make it back to Cologne we will surely stay again!!

Location is AAA. spacious apartment with reasonably good amenities, little kitchen is ideal for family. like the coffee machine wit generous supply of coffee n tea capsules but very little milk.

Temperature controls not working well, cold nite for tropical country people. no email received on door code luckily i hv a phone wit local SIM card n manage to get through to owner. I agree with another viewer about the living room not having curtains as you felt that people could look in at night but the view is so lovely you get use to it.

This partment is super and has a nice location.

The price is expensive ,but it is worthy .

Location was excellent. Cologne Cathedral across street, and the main train station a block away. Very comfortable accommodation, and perfect for small family.

Spacious and clean apartment. Perfect for a family of four.

They email you the entry code the day before arrival so you have to be able to access your email while traveling.

Great room design, big bathroom, two bedrooms with very large beds, lots of space, and complimentary beverages. Well equipped kitchen. Free wifi (about 5Mb/sec speeds). Also steps from the Dom and Hauptbanhof train station.

No temperature controls, single use packets of bath gel were difficult to use. No extra toilet paper.

Great place, great location close to all attractions near The Dom. Great apartment for larger families.

The is the second time we have stayed First Domizil. The first time was in October 2012. The apartment was seemed a bit more used and was not quite as clean this time. Not bad, but not as exceptional as our first visit. We also ran out of toilet paper!

Close to trane station and dom. Rooms where good size, plenty of rooms for the kids. very good price for location. If you need help go to pizza shop.

You need a phone to get your code to get in hotel.

The apartment was brilliantly designed with children in mind. Very clean, and just beside the Cathedral, but quite. We need more of these places in other major cities!

The door lock was a little tricky to get the hang of, but that just might be our incompetence!

Excellent location practically beside the Cathedral. The apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable and the apartment didn't have any features that were not kid friendly like sharp cornered tables, lots of trinkets etc.. We had three children under age four and it went smoothly. They loved looking out the window at all the action outside. The supply of free coffee and a bottle of beer was a nice touch too. The owner was very hospitable and made us a reasonably priced and delicious pasta dinner in his restaurant below the apartment. I would definitely recommend this place

Very central - close to everything you would want to see in Cologne. Excellent views of the Dom from the terrace. Literally next door to the Tourist information and 2 minutes from the main station.

Using the access code to get through three doors (we were on the top 5th floor) was initially fiddly - but improved with practice!

I liked the apartment a lot. I liked how spacious it was and how it was decorated. I also really liked how close the hotel was to the train station and the city center.

I did not like how we were given an access code to enter the place. I emailed First Domizil multiple times asking them to send me the code via email and also asking when the cost of the hotel would hit my credit card; however they never responded. The day I left Berlin to go to Cologne, I checked my email and still did not have the code, so upon arrival at a very crowded train station I had to locate an internet cafe to check my email. I still had not been emailed and it was 3pm at this point. I tried to call, but got a voicemail. My friends and I had to sit at the internet cafe and spend money and wait until we were finally able to get a hold of First Domizil at 4:30 with the code. Overall a real hassle for really nothing. I would suggest finding a better way to communicate the access codes.

It was clean and contemporary

We didnt realise we had to call for an access code to get in. My phone died so I didnt have the information readily available. Fortunately Id printed off the information so we had the phone number of the person to call. Once we got hold of someone it was easy. A pint of milk in the fridge would be more welcome than one beer and one bottle of water! We were disappointed that there was hoarding outside the windows so we had no view- except of the back of and Esprit advert that was on the scaffolding. .

Excellent, convenient location- close to The Dom (cathedral) & train station. The apartments are spacious and and furnished in contemporary fashion.

Although clean, the interior is austere, unwelcoming, & soulless. This is made worse by inadequate low- level lighting throughout. To further aggrevate the situation, the whole exterior of the building is currently shrouded in huge dust sheets and scaffolding. This renders the picture window in the lounge superfluous. There was thankfully no actual work being undertaken during our stay, but it was a consideration that workmen might appear at the windows. The building is unmanned with no reception. On the the two occasions that we required assistance (the first when we couldn't initially find the place because of the aforementioned shrouding of dust sheets, the second when the code- access entry system was inoperative and we couldn't get in) the contact number provided was also unattended!

Great location just opposite the cathedral! The apartment was very neat and comfortable, with a very modern design. Also very easy to walk in an out with the pass code.

Great location, lovely penthouse apartment with views of the Cathedral. Lovely airy room made it a pleasant place to work from in between meetings. Was very clean and much better than a stuffy hotel room. Will definitely book for next trip in Cologne.

Coffee machine didn't work. I did email them and they did promise to resolve it but that never happened. Not the end of the world but just a shame. It would have been nice if I'd received an email explaining how the check-in service worked and that I wouldn't receive an email until about 2pm with access code. Had I known this I wouldn't have worried quite as much about how to get in - I ended up calling and email to ask. I arrived at 9am in Cologne and had to drag my baggage around until I could get in the apartment so if you're used to leaving your luggage with a concierge until you can check-in, do remember this isn't possible.

Location, location, location! and the view from the rooms.

I was missing personell. Some furniture could be better quality.

The location is great and the room is very comfortable with a lot of amenities.

There is some noise from the street (as it is located in the very center of the city). Also, there where some stains on the shower towels - they could be old stains that didn't come off but it is still not a very pleasant experience!

Penthouse view was great, outdoor patio was to die for, could see city and church. Very nice.

The apartment was beautifully decorated and with all the comforts of home. The location could not have been any better with its proximity to the rail station, restaurants, and shopping. The owners and staff were wonderful too. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

The elevator was tiny but it did not seem to be a problem for us.

A little bit too noisy but, in the end it's the price you have to pay when living right in the city centre... just a few metres from the cathedral!

Excellent location - could hardly be more central. A beautiful and spacious apartment, very well equipped and would easily have accomodated four people. It was a pity we were not staying longer! The check-in process worked fine, despite my misgivings about receiving the access code electronically. Would be happy to stay there again

The fact that the code to access the apartment is sent only on the day of arrival is a problem if you are travelling and don't have email access/mobile phone. This was not made clear on the booking page - I only found it out through booking.com reviews. However, I requested it earlier and the staff were very helpful in sending it before I left the UK.

Having the code to open the door, would have been an advantage, instead had to wait in the rain whilst booking.com got me the code. The "hotel" said they sent the code to my mobile, well i'm still waiting for it to arrive.
