Location was beautiful and the price was very good as well. It has a nice breakfast buffet and the staff was always very helpful. The lift to the hotel must have been the best of all! Dinner at the local restaurant is good, but not really friendly towards vegetarians. There was only one dish possible, and it's more an appatizer, but I guess Bavaria is not the best place to go for vegetarians. The spa was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I booked this Hotel to ski in Garmisch as I thought it would be ok to ski down to the lifts, but this is not possible, instead there is a 25min walk to the bus, which you then have to change on to the ski bus to get to the slopes! However after the initial dissapointment with the trek, I would have to make, this hotel is a little gem the staff could not do enough for you, the location is breathtaking and the walk I found not to be taxing but quite magical, along with old fashioned gondola. The food both dinner and breakfast was reasonably priced, unpretencious homemade and generous and the homely surroundings made my short stay a real pleasure. The traditional dress at dinner is charming and the watresses were attentive and welcoming The fixtures and fittings do need a little updating, however everthing was very clean. Don't be put off with the location it is positive rather than a negative!

It was wonderful.... We took a cable car up to our rooms, view gorgeous. Totally a hidden gem! Wi Fi spotty in rooms, must pay through TMobile Hotspot. Also beware that cable car that accesses hotel only runs from 7AM-Midnight, so if you need to leave early, or want to come in late, you have to make sure it's between that window.

We just went for one night and have 2 boys and we loved taking the tiny cable car up the mountain to get there. The breakfast was included and great. The view from our windows were wonderful. Staff very helpful and polite. We would go back again !

It truly is nestled into a mountain valley cove of bavarian fame. The cable car to and from the hotel is a piece of nostalgic modernity. The rooms did not have microwaves, so if you bring snacks, bring dry goods.

The staff was friendly. Perfect location to the Gorge and the Olympic SkiStadion.Prices are reasonable.Good/Gute breakfast/fruhstuck.This a great pet friendly hotel! One must plan accordingly when returning to hotel as the hotel cable car shuts down after 2200 hours/10 p.m. You must be at the cablecar station before 2200 hours/10 p.m. if you wish to return to your hotel room for the night. The cablecar station re-opens in the morning at 0700.Please note this means of transport is what is available to the guests. There is no shuttle/private car service. Not sure, but wondered if they have a timer on their hot water heater as I had to take a shower at 0530 and there was no hot water till later in the morning.

The location was outstanding! You are South of town a bit and up an unlit road. However, the ride to the top in the gondola through the gorge is breathtaking. The views from the rooms and spa are equally breathtaking. Food in the restaurant (only one was open in the Winter) was extremely good and very Bavarian. We spent our time enjoying the view and skiing. Others hiked through the mountains, which would be equally beautiful in the Summertime. You park at the bottom. You must climb up 30-40 steps to get to the gondola house. You ride that up and have another 50 meters to get to the reception area. If you have a lot of luggage, be prepared for multiple trips (the gondolas hold 4 people or 320 kg max). There's no phone in some rooms and television is limited to four (snowy) Austrian channels. Internet is available (t Mobile) for a fee. However, if you're looking to get away from things - then these aren't negatives - they are positives. Their website does list rooms and rates, however, the English version is less complete and doesn't completely describe the rooms. The booking.com website provided more complete information on the size and nature of the rooms.

We loved the location and rustic feel. The apartment was not very clean. It was very dusty and the kitchen was disgusting. I wouldn't even use the kitchen and that was one reason we wanted the apartment. However, everything else was great and we will stay there again.

The 3 1/2 min cable car ride up to the hotel, the hotel had to be 300m above the river basin below (pretty cool). The hotel was really reasonable, price-wise. No TV/Internet (which was a nice thing for one night). The walls were pretty thin, could hear the gentleman in the next room snoring.

This is a very special place. Ignore the other reviews critiquing the towels, slow restaurant, or cable car. Everything about this place is totally charming. It's warm, comfortable and totally wonderful. I've stayed all over the world and this is truly one of the best. You can find fancier, but the location and warmth here is without equal.

I was surprised by the high quality of this place. Very warm and friendly people welcomed us. It was an experience by itself, just having breakfast with an amazing mountain view and getting a ride on the hotel's cable car. My only regret was not staying longer.

The main asset is obviously the location, coupled with the trip in the cable car to get there (fun at night on your own if you like an adrenaline rush!). Overall, a totally unique experience. The hotel was almost empty the 2 nights I was there, so it was easy to enjoy the solitude and the peace and quiet - in fact. I wish I could have stayed longer. The breakfast was plentiful, varied and very tasty! Some may not like the lack of free internet or TVs in the single rooms, but for me this was an advantage. The point of heading out of the city for a couple of days is to get away from the pressures of modern life for a bit! One receptionist made you feel as if you had insulted her just by your presence. You could put it down to German efficiency, communication issues or whatever, but I've never received such a cold response in any hotel I've ever stayed in, particularly from someone who isn't nearly old enough to be that bitter yet. Fortunately, the other members of staff were much friendlier and it certainly didn't ruin my stay. But I would urge the hotel to provide this poor girl with some customer service training! The location could be a disadvantage for some as, in winter when the daylight ends early, there isn't much to do up there and it's a long way into town and back without your own transport.

Loved the beautiful mountain setting. The cost was very reasonable. The furnishings in the room were very nice. The bathroom was very clean and modern looking. The cable car ride to the hotel was a unique & memorable experience. My daughter and I loved it. No wireless internet reception in my room. If there was any signal I could not pick it up. The breakfast could have used a few more dishes like scrambled eggs and bacon. The website needs some better pictures- bigger & higher-resolution. The description of the 4 person room didn't mention that 2 of the beds were bunk beds. My 4 elderly aunts had this room and were unable or unwilling to climb up into a bunk so one slept on the sofa instead.

The Hotel was beautiful. One of the favorite places during our 2 weeks of travel! The cable car adventure up to the hotel was maybe the coolest part...also be sure to check out the hiking trails off behind the hotel as they were very cool!! Nothing...potentially would be alittle difficult to find, however splitting the cost of a 10€ taxi from the main train station was plenty worth it for us. There were signs for it, but it was just tucked back away, and we would have likely thought we were going in the wrong direction...not a bad thing, its part of what makes the location of this place magical...just something to be aware of!

The only access cable car was a novelty. It was a quiet location generally however it was very busy with day trippers at the weekend. There was good access to mountain walks and a spectacular gorge from the hotel. Service and staff were sadly only poor to fair. The food menu was quite disappointing and limited.

Great price, great food. Rude girl working at the front desk. Felt like I was bothering her anytime I had to speak to her. The shower in the shared bathroom was broken.
