Oberau might be too small and quiet for some people's liking

The owner was so friendly and accommodating, it felt like we were staying at our uncle's house! He doesn't speak much English, but his son does. We had a triple room, which has a traditional German king bed and a fold out sofa, which fit our 8 year old and our 5 year old. We also had a friend staying in a single next to our room. Rooms were comfortable and spacious enough (and with good closet space), with a lovely balcony looking out to the mountains. The bathrooms are tiny, but recently renovated and nicely fitted out with hairdryer and little drying hooks in the shower. There is a room right near the front door where you can store your skis and boots and such, and we liked hanging out in the breakfast room in the evenings playing games that we brought. Breakfast was a very nice traditional German bread/cheese/meat/butter/jam breakfast, with frequently refilled coffee and the most fantastic local eggs (boiled). My kids enjoyed playing with the owner's two little dachsund/schnauzer mix dogs and playing in the snow piles in the neighborhood. At the owner's suggestion, we walked the 5-10 minutes to Cafe Dubrovnik for dinner one night and loved it. Garmisch ski areas are about 10-20 minute drive, depending on traffic. Will definitely stay there again...it's not glamorous, but very warm and traditional, which we enjoy. We found it to be comfortable and a good value for the money in the Garmisch area.

Only two small things - the doors and door handles are a little squeaky. The little storage room where we put our skis might be outfitted with hooks or shelves to store gear more easily.

Out of the way of skiing. A neighbor got upset with us and yelled at us when we left because our car is a little loud when started cold.

Loved this place. English was lacking but kindness in abundance. Lovely people and cant' wait to return. Wonderful place and cant thank them enough :)

The staff. We made the reservation through Booking.com, but it didn't go through. When we arrived the staff had no idea, but they made sure we were accommodated even though that meant sending my two buddies to another hotel for a night, while I remained there. The staff went above and beyond.

hook up some english channels on the tv would be nice. maybe cnn or sports channels to watch at night.

Handy for the pub/restaurant just down the road. Room was spacious with modern fittings and a good shower and toilet en-suit. Nice window (and balcony) view of mountains. Breakfast fine, parking no problem.

TV didn't work - not a problem for us so we didn't mention it. Even though their was a strong WiFi signal, it was impossible to connect, and as we don't speak German (our fault) and the proprioter didn't speak English, we couldn't get him to understand the problem.

Centrally located. Good breakfast. It is a place to sleep and then get going for the day.

Small room, not the size of room you would want to spend time in on a rainey afternoon. WiFi. This hotel uses MaxSpot. I cannot say anything good about it. I was never able to connect even after going to McDonalds to verify the account. When I got back to the hotel I still could not connect. Another guest had to resort to calling a friend to use their email to complete the connection. If WiFi is important to you this is not the place to stay

It is a very nice family run place with a cosy atmosphere. It is centrally located between Oberammergau, Ettal and Garmisch- Partenkirchen. The owners are very open to all your needs and questions.

The rooms are not very big, neither is the dining room (which serves breakfasts only).

Sehr nette Begrüssung durch den Gastgeber. Obwohl wir für 3 Personen gebucht haben, war nur für 2 gebettet, aber dies war kein Problem, das wurde schnell nachgeholt. Alles in Allem können wir das Gästehaus nur weiterempfehlen!

Přístup a jednání pana majitele, je to velmi milý a ochotný člověk, který se snaží o maximální spokojenost hostů.

Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Die Zimmer waren gemütlich und das Frühstück war lecker. Wir haben uns sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt.

Mir hat der Service ausgesprochen gut gefallen, der Wirt war sehr entgegenkommend, hilfsbereit und überaus freundlich.In dem typisch bayrischen Ambiente des Hauses mit seiner familiären Atmosphäre habe ich mich sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Zimmer sind sehr ansprechend gestaltet und gepflegt und das reichhaltige Frühstücksbuffet ließ keine Wünsche offen. Das Hotel ist unbedingt weiterzuempfehlen.

Очень удобно для путешествия на машине, рядом магазины и заправки, близко к выезду на скоростной автобан А95. Фактически вся Южная часть Баварии в радиусе часа езды. Посетили все замки Людвига 2, ездили в Мюнхен, в Тироль. Очень общительный хозяин, удобная парковка, большой номер.

На завтрак только хлеб, ветчина, сыр и вареные яйца, каждый день. Пешком в округе делать нечего. Мусор из номера убирали не каждый день, и уборку проводили не часто. За неделю постельное белье не меняли ни разу, как и полотенца. Персонал говорит только на немецком, хотя на жестах объяснялись нормально.

Der Service ist herausragend insbesondere das Kümmern ist sehr positiv. Der Hausherr steht immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.
