Very attentive staff. Meals, excellent quality and as much as you can eat and more. Be warned, arriving at breakfast you will be asked if you want omelette, delay her, or it will be on your table before you sit down, The wine cellar is a real plus and the wines are as good as you buy in the area. A lovely quiet location. If travelling by car it is not the easiest to find. We took the wrong road up out of the town, the one signed to the Mway. The correct road goes up from opposite the railway station, but is not well signed.

The staff is superb at the Gasthaus--friendly, helpful (and speak English). Breakfast is fantastic. We had a deluxe double and it was lovely with a nice bathroom. Dinner was very good. Only a two minute drive from the Rhine River, but in a quiet village up in the hills. Would go here again.

Paul was extremely helpful and affable. He provided us with maps, free bicycles, and was at our service whenever we needed him. It was a wholly enjoyable stay! The location is fine if you have a car, but it is removed from town and a good distance up a long and windy road. You can ride their bikes to the river and town, but then they must arrange a cab for your return.

Very nice hotel in a quiet location with excellent staff and very good breakfast. Close to all major attractions of the area but in a very secluded location. We stayed 1 night only but I wish we could stay longer. And did I mentioned "THE BREAKFAST"... if not here it is - very good.

Great location nestled in the valley. Rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable. Loved the history of the place, the friendly welcome and of course our teenage kids are happy when there is WIFI!! Evening meal and breakfast were absolutely awesome and a wonderful end to our European holiday before heading back to Australia.

Extremely friendly hosts, very comfortable room with large sofa bed for the children and beautifully soft duvets and pillows. The building is full of character and the excellent food is locally sourced and very reasonable. The wine cellar is open for tasting and the breakfast is truly amazing, the children loved the fresh cheesecake!

Good location for overnight stop - close to motorway, yet very quiet and with views over open country. Staff very helpful, rooms clean, and breakfast all it is reported to be on Trip Advisor, etc. Close enough (but not to walk!!) to Rhine and its attractions for longer stay. Very limited for alterative choice for evening meal within walking distance.

Very nice location in the vineyards above Oberwessel, near the Rhine. Very friendly and accommodating staff, and the self-guided tour through their wine cellar is not to be missed! Excellent food at the Breakfast buffet and lunch/dinner. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience, and highly recommendable. The hotel is up quite a steep hill from the main town of Overwessel (which is right on the river). If you are not traveling by car, you will have quite a hike (or a taxi ride) to get up there.

I enjoyed the location, the staff, this cleanliness and size of the room, and the Cherry tree in the side garden. Yum! We loved the breakfast. The hostess was warm and inviting and the cakes were super! The location is in a beautiful neighborhood. This location is right up the hill from the castle. It is about a 5 minute drive to the fussganger zone of Oberwesel. We booked a double room with extra bed, but actually got a bunk bed too. Would love to go back again! The firmness of the bed was not to our taste, everything else was perfect!

We stayed for 4 nights in June 2011. The Gasthaus is about 2km outside Oberwesel up a steep hill but is set in a lovely village above the Rhine. Our room was very comfortable with a small sitting area and a balcony. Dinner was excellent but the breakfasts were even better, so much variety from stawberies to smoked salmon, the usual cooked meats and cheese ending with freshly made cheesecake or croissant. We bought a walking map from the hotel and enjoyed walking to the next villages on the Rhine direct from the Hotel. The family also have vineyards and we had the opportunity to taste their fine riesling wines in the cellar, an opportunity not to be missed. I would highly recomend this hotel

We cannot say enough about the family that owns the inn. They were absolutely lovely...they went out of their way to make our stay lovely. The inn is beautiful with the rooms recently done over professionally. Beds very comfortable, rooms spacious, and the food....FABULOUS...they have their own vineyard and the wine is as fabulous as the food. Perfect place to stay

This is our second visit to Weingut Stahl in the past three years and again it was a highlight of our trip. The owner, Paul, is exceptionally welcoming and efficient. He invited us to enjoy a wonderful wine tasting in the family wine cellar which dates back over a hundred years. The food in the restaurant includes a wide variety of German local specialties and they also have menus available in English for travelers who do not speak German. Local residents flock to the restaurant for a glass of wine or beer and a friendly meal. Krista is the queen of the breakfast room. She provides a huge selection of meats, cheeses, cereals and freshly cooked eggs. She provides local insight into places to visit with a cheery smile. Fresh fruit from the family's trees is turned into the best jams and jellies. Rooms are spotless with comfortable beds. A great value for a hotel in the area of Oberwesel and the middle Rhine. Excellent in all areas

Paul Stahl and his team do a fantastic job of caring for guests. Rooms are large, clean and well furnished (great for families). On-site restaurant has diverse traditional German menu, with well prepared food. Service for both the hotel and restaurant were outstanding. Make sure to visit the wine cellar and taste the many fine wines. Just a few minutes from the Rhine River - far enough to avoid the town and train noise at night. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is situated about 2km from Oberwesel in a quiet village. It was very peaceful and relaxing at the hotel. I was given a very large room, which was well appointed, and which had a balcony overlooking the countryside. The restaurant was lovely and the food and wines were very good. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. An excellent hotel.

The owner was wonderful. We arrived fairly late and the next day had to have lost luggage delivered all handled well. Breakfast was delicious with lots of home made goodies and fruit. Great place to sit outside when the weather permits - good parking Rooms were great with great views Not a problem for us but just to be aware of - may be a little bit hard to find - just don't miss the big sign (we had gps so we were fine and remember it was dark when we arrived)

This hotel is a jewel in the hills above the town of Oberwesel on the Rhein. It is a family run hotel that has excellent food and great wines made onsite. You are greeted by family members and served dinner by them and their staff in a very friendly way. the meals are excellent and can be taken in their large dining area or on the outside patio. Breakfast is typical continental only with a larger selection and special dishes brought to your table to sample and even have waffles made to your order with a variety of fresh toppings. The rooms are large and well furnished with balconies on some that have a view of the surrounding farms and hills. And it is very quiet. You can even go to the cherry trees in the garden and pick your own to snack on. A truly lovely hotel!
