This loft-style design hotel is housed in a former gasworks in Hamburg, and features a modern industrial design within the brick walls of a listed building.

The Gastwerk Hotel Hamburg enjoys excellent public transport connections. The nearby bus stop and city railway (S-Bahn) station easily take you to all of Hamburg’s main attractions.

The hotel will seduce you with its fascinating design. Several components contribute to an impressive overall impression which is both complex and simple.

Occupying a former coal stockyard for Hamburg's gasworks, the hotel offers 141 rooms and suites, a flexible conference area, restaurant, bar, health spa area, free parking spaces and an underground garage.

Food & beverage

In restaurant Mangold guests are served Italian, French, German, Caribbean, Asian and Maghrebian to name just a few.

The kitchen is run by chef Andreas Marquardt, who combines the best ingredients and recipes from all 5 continents to create universal culinary dishes. With intensive preparation and fresh ingredients, the distinctive international and exotic dishes still maintain regional character.

The bar Riva die Bar features warm, Italian-style décor and will spoil you with all kinds of beverages, snacks and cocktails. It has a capacity of 60 and is the perfect spot to unwind with friends at all times of day. Opening times: 6:30 – 01:00.

Room information

Atrium Room: These smaller standard rooms in industrial design are 25m² in size and offer a view of the atrium.

Business Room: These deluxe rooms in modern design are 30m² in size and feature a large window front and a bathroom with power shower.

Loft Room: These deluxe rooms in industrial design with red brick walls are 30m² in size and feature a walk-in wardrobe.

Area information

Located just 6 kilometres from Hamburg’s city centre, the hotel lies within a listed area with a large park, a fitness centre and several shops.

The hotel enjoys an easily accessible location, just a few minutes from the A7 motorway (the Bahrenfeld exit). The airport can also be reached quickly from here, and the river Elbe is nearby.

Important information

Please note that renovation work will be occurring in the restaurant from 4 to 15 August 2008. During this time, we will be serving breakfast in our cosy conservatory. Here we will also offer a special business lunch and an evening buffet dinner.

Please note that when booking a minimum of 6 rooms a night, free cancellation is possible up to 5 days before arrival date. Later cancellations will be charged with 80% if the rooms cannot be sold.

The friendlyness and service of the people. For us, with two kids, it has been great staying. Nevertheless there is no indoor swimmingpool and no playground in the hotel...

The rooms were a bit dry (because of the clima?)...

Sehr interessante Architektur, Gestaltung und Ausstattung und tolles Flair; auf jeden Fall mal kein Standard-Business-Hotel, sondern besser.

Restaurant etwas zu laut und nicht ganz angemessen im Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Auffallend hilfsbereite, freundliche Mitarbeiter an der Reception und beim Spa, tolle Architektur und Inneneinrichtung, angenehme Atmosphäre, nette Bibliotheksecke, offene Internetnutzung
